I find the omission of Harriet Pattison's role in the planning of the monument somewhat unsettling - Nathaniel was most certainly aware of his mother's contribution.

FDR's giant bronze head in the square of granite seems (to me) a symbol of FDR on many levels:
As if the granite box his bronze head is mounted in could symbolize how FDR was familiar to everyone--through the large radio-FDR's famous fireside radio chats.
Sculpture could also be very symbolic of the president and his paralysis (from polio). As if the square box of granite containing the the FDR bust represents his wheelchair.

    Took decades.....
Well first. Roosevelt’s arch-enemy Robert Moses had to depart from the scene.
I haven’t visited the monument but I find it a bit odd that Kahn placed the President’s bust in a granite “box” facing north. Perhaps he was thinking of this setting as a “jewel box” or cyclopean “vitrine” but with the viewer facing south it almost guarantees that the already dark bronze faces will be in shadow.
    Counter-comments welcome.

A stirring speech on freedom from one of the biggest statists ever to occupy the White House. Beautiful.

The design is lovely. But the location isn’t. Not a very accessible place for people to easily get to.

I'm only 10 minutes in, but will it at some point be revealed within this video specifically what the 4 freedoms are? Or shall I just Google it? Furthermore, i have not yet seen the park being discussed. Wow, pretty incomplete story here.

Freedom of speech, worship, from want, from fear. Stated before the made possible tributes right at the start. Did you skip this?!

Again, this is another leftwing homage to FDR rather than a program about art, architecture or engineering.
