Missing Pieces really clears up a lot of stuff or builds on connections between characters, so don't worry about not getting something or misinterpreting a character.

I love how Miyamura not having dinner at the Hori house was so outside of the realm of possibility that there just wasn't going to be any for Kyoske. He doesn't even have a set of his own chopsticks, but Miyamura does. Imagine being away from home for several months and being told you have to use plastic silverware because there isn't enough for you, but a kid that you've never even heard of has his own set of silverware. Savage.
HAHAHAHA.
Hori's Mom and Dad's story is so awesome and you'll get why things are like that in the Hori family.

Horimiya is more about the friendship and personal grow than the normal romance where all serie is for the main pairing to get together. As you can see, they became a couple since the begining.
Btw, if you like the jealous tipe, you'll love Hori. She is quite violent...
If I remember from the web novel version it says the Hori’s parents are essentially in a long distance relationship that stemmed from Hori’s mom being bad with money or something and Hori’s dad’s work, I might be remembering wrong.

why does nobody ever notice that 1. that is the girl that shindo sent miyamura a picture of in the previous episode and 2. that shindo is clearly visible behind miyamura?
Coz they're focusing on subtitles i guess. It needs skill to read subtitles and look at scenes at same time.

Kyosuke is the worst dad in anime? He is the BEST dad in anime.
My favorite explanation for Kyosuke's attitude may or may not be canon but was given by another father who had a daughter. His comment on this episode was that as a dad, it's your job to shake up your daughter's boyfriend, to make him feel uncomfortable. That way you can gauge how he responds to the chaos of being in a relationship with her especially when real trouble arises. Of course, you also want to have fun by embarrassing your daughter and her partner. Dad privilege, apparently.
As for his job, I think he's a traveling salesman but some suggested that he does freelance work that involves travel, like photography.

Hori's dad is the BEST dad in all rom-com anime! Ahh I love how wholesome this anime is!
Horimiya is a surprising anime just based on how fast the relationship moves. Typically you don't get a confirmation of mutual feelings until the last or next to last episode of a season, while the whole story revolves around the "will they, wont they" back and forth dynamics. Characters will waffle and almost confess or something will get in the way or somebody does something stupid that makes the other mad, or another girl gets in the way. But no, not Horimiya, even though its a comedy it does a good job at portraying a good natural progression of a realistic relationship!
The dad always left to find milk.
Calling someone by their first name is a big deal for Japanese people. It's like using a nickname or a term of endearment, cause they're used to calling each other on a last name basis out of politeness which is a cultural thing in Japan. But when you call someone in their first name it means you're really close with each other usually reserved for family/best friends/childhood friends/romantic partners

I think it's hilarious that in the intro y'all were saying nothing's probably gonna happen after Miyamura's confession and then BAM! They're dating! We also got some more lewd handholding, which was nice.

I do really think you guys should watch Missing Pieces. It helps fill in some things and plus, you get to spend even more time with these loveable idiots, it's a win-win!

@@HaydrogenBombgojo is inspired from killua in HxH ....actually a lot of shonen ideas are inspired from HxH ...demon slayer, CSM,JJK, Mha,Fire force,hells paradise a lot more ...but Jjk one is the most that got most ideas from HxH

I know the Remi comments are jokes lol, but she's kinda interesting. Remi is emotionally intelligent enough to comfort Sakura without invalidating her feelings, and she was emotionally intelligent enough to push Hori's buttons in the prior encounter because Hori responds to it well. My ONLY complaint about Horimiya is the show shows the worst side of a character before it shows the best side of them, Remi is a good person who had some bad "first impressions", but she's still a good person.

I agree that the mangata does tend to bring in new characters with bad traits, before showing their better sides. I'm pretty sure this is intentional because they want us to understand that people are not just all good or all bad, but have both and it really depends on how we decide to interact with them. Especially that one scene (in a later episode) where Miyamura talks about how he thinks he can be friends with any one.
On a related note..... I always love how Remi was able to manipulate Hori on Sports Day! 😂
calling someone by your first name in japan is evident of your closeness to them. especially calling someone by their first name without the honorifics (-kun, -chan, -san, etc.)

Personally, even tho at this point Remi isn't portrayed as likable yet to a lot of people, I don't like when they get mad at her for _worrying about her best friend._ Is it not fair to ask your long time best friend if it's some thing so difficult that she has to hide it from her? Clearly of she asks that then that means they've never really had this problem before. She's not really _forcing_ her to tell her, but rather asking _why_ she can't tell her, and if it's a her problem. She's _allowed_ to pry because she cares and loves her best friend.
But then again this is usually the turning point for a lot of viewers towards her lol
