Also, the Center fucked up, it was to force the Pats to have too many people on the field and if it didn't work, just let the play clock run and take the penalty. But the Center continued the player as if nothing was wrong.
The amazing thing about the Giants kickoff that they recovered in the endzone at the start of the game..... No time was taken off the clock.... Because the ball was never touched in the field of play...
As a die hard colts fan, I still sit speechless with massive blood pressure increase at that inexplicable nonsense on 4th and 3 against the patriots. If I live to be a hundred and ten years old, that singular play will trigger me over and over again.
Yeah, but the whole thing made no sense at all. Obviously the guy was NOT suppose to hike the ball. That they were trying to draw the Pats offside for a 5 yd penalty and get the 1st down (then 4th and 3). But that didn't matter cuz the Colts were going to get flagged for illegal formation. So the penalties would have offset, and the 4th and 3 would have just been replayed. But in the actual case, the Pats took over on downs, right there. Dumbasses!!!

For everyone wondering, he tackled his own teammate to try to keep him in the endzone because if he went out they would've been in like the 1 yard line.
Pat explained the whole play, it was never supposed to be snapped, just meant to confuse the pats and possibly get them to have too many people on the field
I have noticed in college games that when they kick off now and the ball lands in the end zone the kicking team does not try to cover it for a touchdown. Has there been a rule change? A kickoff used to be a live ball after it travels ten yards. Now it seems that if it hits the ground , it is a touchback.
Pianoman3131313 he tackled him because if he went out of the end zone they would have the ball on the 1 yard line but if he stayed in and they tackled him they would have it on the 20 but it failed and he fumbled
Because he was stupid, I guess. The tackling teammate (Jack Golden) should have left his teammate (Fred Lewis) alone. Instead, Lewis ended up fumbling it. You can't go back into the end-zone once you've possessed the ball in the green field of play. Otherwise, it's a safety. If the ball ends up in the end-zone with the defense in possession, then it's a touch-back and they get possession on the 20 yard line.
He couldn't keep his teammate in the end zone when he wasn't already in there in the first place. His teammate (the one with the ball) had possession of the ball in the green field of play and then went into the end zone. At that point, it would be a safety had his opponent tackled him then. You can't go into your own end zone with the ball. Otherwise, it's a safety. The ball has to land into the end zone for it to be a touch-back (except for kickoffs - that's a live ball/play).
Adam's right... After reviewing the kick, the field goal counted and the Browns won that game in OT... It was priceless... They were interviewing Flacco on the sideline and somebody came up and yelled "C'mon! It ain't over!" Yes, this does happen as referenced by the commentators. @LavishPatchKid You are incorrect. The text I posted is the official text from the NFL rule book concerning the matter. As neither of the exceptions could be applied any player on the field, regardless of team, could legally advance the ball. What you appear to be trying to cite is Rule 8 Article 6 (c) which is part of the fumble after two-minute warning exception. As I have explained though, that exception does not apply here as the play was conducted with more than three minutes left in the half, and therefore clearly not after the two minute warning.

I used to be in the marching band, trombone. But moments like these are why I watch football.
And I can say this the last 10 seconds of the game was one of the most epic game plays eve. If games can be played like that all the time you will not Lose a fan.
