    Hey IWrocker. This comment isn't really about this video in particular, but just in general I think you've got one of the best reaction channels out there. You're extremely likable, open minded, and you're humble but you clearly know some stuff about a lot of stuff. The commentary always feels relevant. I love how it feels like we're reacting to something together. Other reactors pause too much and it feels like a chore, like "just get on with it", but you commentate while playing the video, and when you pause it's always worth listening to what you have to say, and it never feels like you're just stalling. Keep up the great work man. I don't know how your days are like, but you always give off these positive vibes and good energy. Excited to see you play ETS2 again too, looking forward to the next video of that 😁

    Estonian here. All those cars use Soviet GAZ-53/66 V8 gasoline engine (conditions allow also Gaz R6 engine but currently no one is using them). Class conditions limit the allowed modifications of the engine: engine blocks, cylinder heads, intake manifold, oil pump, water pump needs to be original, displacement must not exceed 4400 cm3 (this is a bit more than original 4300 cm3 so it is allowed to bore cylinders for bigger pistons or use stroker crankshaft), engine must be naturally aspirated and feed by carburettor (can be custom), intake manifold porting is not allowed. They produce up to 200 hp and top speed is around 140 km/h. Cabins are from GAZ-51, -52, or -53.

    As someone from Estonia, i'm always happy when people check out our quirky little country, especially if it's one of my favourite (and only) reaction channels.
    So the trucks you see here, are are Soviet-built farm/work trucks. The ones with pronounced fenders, shown less in this clip, are ZIL-130, built between 1962-2012. They run 6L V8 gasoline engines but are weak in stock form, so they are suped up for rallying. The other older looking ones are GAZ-51, built between 1946-1975 and run a 3.5L inline 6 gasoline engine. This sport is actually quite an old tradition, but it has been carried on after Estonia broke free from Soviet Union/occupation and so we still rally them.

    I'm also Estonian and one of the best of those truck rally drivers was once my co-worker, when we drove in Scandinavia.
    About those trucks- those Gaz 51 trucks were made between 1946-1975 (I was born 76) and as much I remember from my childhood, they were used in rally already back then in soviet time, of course not as modified as now.
    Now, as much I know, they can drive up to 100 miles per hour in speed, I don't remember the acceleration, but as it can be seen from video, it's not slow :D

    • @terkojakobson
      @terkojakobson ปีที่แล้ว +2

      let's be real here - as "tough" as they were, they were only barely even starting up every other day in their original form. gears were never going in without taking a bite out of gears (imagine the awful sound on EVERY gear change) and the thin and hard tires - as cool it is to slide with them on rallies - were just a nightmare to drive on snow. these rally versions have basically only kept the original frame, cabin and engine block, everything else is from other (western) trucks and/or custom made. it's a unique and spectacular form of a car hobby though.

    When they tested Rally Estonia to join WRC calendar back in 2019 these trucks also competed.
    This is a sight to see.
    We were walking back to our car with a friend when we heard one truck crash. It was in a very high speed section, but there were no spectators there. We ran to the crash sight and fortunately everyone was ok. Other than the driver and the co-driver there were two guys at the site and we managed to get the car back on the wheels with 5 people.
    Unfortunately they couldn't continue, but at least we managed to clear the road for other cars.
    That year was one of the best rally experiences of my life.

    1200HP... Rally, like most racing, is a momentum game. You don't need massive power, it costs too much in reliability, weight, cost and cooling issues.
    Most rally cars (top class, 90's on) develop 300-400hp..
    Group B cars were up to 550, but by 1990, 4 years after Group B was banned, the Group A cars (more had to be built for homologation so were actual cars) were as fast on the stages.
    BTW, if your intrest in Rugby is open to more, the World cup just started..
    Might be worth a reaction / watch-party? Squidge rugby does unbelieveably good breakdowns too.
