Hi Lindsay! Happy Saturday! I hope your dad is making good progress to coming home. I have a hack that helped my mom get over her post hospital stay pneumonia. A visiting nurse told her to do this every half hour or so. Take three quick deep breaths and then cough three times. It helps move the fluid in your lungs. It helped get her over it quickly. I hope your dad can recover soon. 😊🙏🏻

That is a really good tip. My aunt who is a nurse gave me that tip as well. Another thing that is really good for a person is to sit outside in the fresh air and hopefully sunshine for at least 15 minutes. Even if you have to really bundle up it is so good to be exposed to fresh air.

Hullo Lindsay, I have mentioned before that I learned watercolor painting from my Gran at 10 years old. I will confess that I was NOT excited about the summer time classes when I was told that was what I was going to be doing for most of my summer holiday! I was a little bit surly and my Gran said that I did not have to paint,I could just read. I found her Audubon field guide collection and I was mesmerized! I asked her the next day if I would be able to make pictures like those? She laughed and said that if I applied myself and really absorbed her instructions I would be allowed to try by the end of summer, I was hooked! Now my minks and the raccoon were not going to win any awards but I still love creating fauna and floral pictures! My first “best effort” was a tulip and they are still my favorite flower to create even today! Thank you for sharing your time with us, we all are wishing you health and happiness for you and your family and redoubled for your father’s recovery. I am tremendously interested in the oil sticks and water soluble oil paint sticks too! Please take care, stay safe and be happy!

I was so looking forward to the gouache 12 project class. I was gonna do one for each month and give it as Christmas gifts. But totally get the craziness going on. So sorry to hear about your Dad. I wish him a speedy recovery and hope you get at least one more good holiday season with him. Just in the last week I received the first round of bad news on both my parents' health. It had to happen sometime, I guess. We know it's coming our whole lives, but when that time arrives, it's always such a blow. Virtual flowers and hugs to you both.

I absolutely agree with your decision to stop Inktober. I tried for a few days, but my hands acted up and I stopped. Your health, mental and physical, is more important than an art challenge. Your hair looks great btw, hahah, it reminds me that I need to wash my hair too. 😅

"Buying when you don't have the time to do" is the story of my life. I realized I was doing that a few weeks ago. Whenever I was overwhelmed with work (I work many hours a week in a high pressure job), I'd start hoarding art supplies. It was like "Ok, I don't have the time do make/create but I can at least click a few times and buy. Takes a minute." And then of course, I would get that high from a purchase and the possibilities and the colorful shininess of it. All the best to your father.

I also bailed on inktober this year, i was forcing myself to do it and finding no joy in it so realised it didn't make sense to keep going. Sounds like you're being sensible and taking care of yourself. Keep your energy for the most important things, you and your family.

Thinking of and praying for you and your family with your dad’s health issues.
When my husband was going through his cancer journey, I kept a bag of colored pencils and a small adult coloring book with me. It helped me calm my mind and center my spirit in the midst of a horrible time. Just a thought as you spend time w your dad. Coloring doesn’t necessarily require much thought- you can be present with him and not get overwhelmed with the gravity of the days. ❤❤❤

Boy we must be on the same wavelength this week. I pull out supplies for an idea I have and stack it on top of yesterday’s supplies. And then I decided to really purge my cabinets as I have too much stuff. So my book room is all pulled apart and it just makes me tired to look at. I’ve gifted a lot to a school teacher friend, but there’s a lot left. Ugghhh. I’m now more resolved to not buy anything this year. Maybe next year too! Take care.
I hope your father is doing better. My dad dislikes hospitals too. He also dislikes making a fuss, especially if he has to involve others. He’s from that generation when the fathers always solved the ppproblems and didn’t “put others out” (my mom worked equally hard). He informed me he was going to an out of state hospital for a procedure while standing at the front door with a suitcase in one hand and the doorknob to the opened door in the other! I was flabbergasted! It took a while, but I finally got him to be more forthcoming. He’ll even ask for help - after exhausting every other option. 😆 Lindsey, please focus on your family and yourself. We absolutely understand if you don’t respond to comments, because - priorities. We’ll be here. We can do a “Second chance Inktober” in spring or whenever.

Sorry to hear about your dads return to the hospital. I sure hope he improves quickly. About the Inktober thing, I was very disappointed in the prompts and didn't even draw the backpack. Next year, make up your own, and we can call it Lyntober! ❤
I can tell you're not doing well with your Dad's current health condition and I understand. I decided to do the zentangle prompts for Inktober this year, trying to learn the basic patterns. I am also doing Bloomtober, learning about poisonous plants and practicing my botanical drawings from reference photos. So I was excited to hear of your line and pen botanicals coming after the holidays. I will definitely want to make those cards. I wonder if you'll ever move away from Maine, you're going into another winter that seems to be coming faster every year. I, of course just went through 2 hurricanes in 2 weeks, but its not really the same. My summers are getting hotter and I don't know where else I'd want to live. My family is scattered across the country and my parents have passed. Also looking forward to the Michael's class. Hope your Dad gets out of the hospital soon, have a better week.

You are the busiest person I know. Yes, it can be really disruptive to have a person you are supporting in the hospital. These days it seems that many local hospitals have closed and you have to drive a far distance. Love and prayers to you.
My parents live an hour away so the hospital is closer to them but in the opposite direction than me.

Prayers for your dad and family. I hope he recovers soon. I've been sick with Covid for over a week now and every day is a different adventure, but I think I'm getting over it pretty well.
