    Any asmr people will have loved that video with the crinkling!! The raspberry ripple tulips look gorgeous and the white alliums. It’s such a nice thing as we get into winter to do spring bulbs and be looking forward to them right as all the Christmas choccy is running out and winter cosyness starts losing its novelty ! 😂👍

    Thank you so much Eli for the happy birthday wishes, that was very kind of you and greatly appreciated.
    Thanks for making me feel younger.
    I thoroughly enjoy your utube channel and have learnt a great deal from it. So much so, I am getting a Rhino greenhouse in the spring to replace my current one.
    Thanks again to both you and Kate.

    Thank you Eli for really cheering me up this morning! I've definitely been feeling that 'low light, SAD' feeling, which results in zero motivation. Your upbeat, positive video (despite the rotten weather!) has really encouraged me to get out and plant the tulip bulbs I received in the post days ago! I know I'll feel better after a bit of fresh air and leaf raking, and you've given me the encouragement I needed 😊👍

      @@eliandkate You’ve got me very interested in the hot bin compost for a bit of control and savings on how I dress beds/fill pots. I’m also interested in how you create your own hanging baskets since I buy mine every year at $20 a pop for 7. I’ve checked every bag soil I usually buy and they all have peat in them (trying to end nuts in the house - found yellow sticky traps for house plants online).

    Hiya Eli and Kate, I've also got some radar onions planted. I've put mine in pots and it's a first for me too. My garlic is coming on a treat and my spring onions that I started off indoors are all planted outside now. I'm about 200 miles south of yous in the north east and we've not had a frost yet but I'm sure it's on the way. Your bulb selection looks great, I'm excited for yous.

      Hydrogen peroxide work like a miracle on fungus gnats.
      4% hydrogen peroxide solution diluted 1 part in 4 parts water and give all the plants a really good drench. Kills all the larva and you can use sticky traps for the adult flies.

    Hi, would love one of your updates.
    My garden is small and space a real premium so I plant most of my bulbs in bulb baskets then I don't have to wait for the leaves to die down fully. I lift them after flowering and plant them in large pots to finish. It's a bit of a pain because I have to dry them off cure them and store them but it gives me summer planting space.
    Like you my pea shoots have not come up but my winter gems and winter leaves have. My rocket has sprouted but is not growing at all, I think it's the lack of light rather than warmth.

    • @eliandkate
      @eliandkate  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      you know lifting bulbs is not something I've every done, I think somehow they are the one thing I am ok with being messy :D
      The reduction in light over the colder months is something a lot of people over look, everyone things it's all about heat. but once seeds germinate, light is crucial which is why we see such a slow down

  • @michaeld.3779
    @michaeld.3779 3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    Okay, I’m persuaded! Today, I’m going to Lowe’s and buy some bulbs. I don’t know what kind yet, but I’ll look at the photos on the packages and decide then and there.
    Yesterday was quite summery here, although we have had some nice rain in the past few weeks. My garden is now completely bare, and will remain so, except for some carrots and peas, which I’ll plant soon. I’m not doing much this November/December because my daughter just got her first house. She wants to personalize the place from top to bottom.😳 So, I’ll be putting in new floors and painting for days and days.

      @eliandkate  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Hey Anita,
      I know a lot of folk do use fans. To be honest I don't, it's just another expense that I don't really think is worth it for what I'm doing. If I was growing for commercial purposes or I was relying on what I grow for food I would probably go down the more serious route, but for me, I grow for fun so I don't want it to become a big deal like that :D
      If you get what I mean.

    The packaging for the bulbs are great, the pictures on the pack would be a godsend when your planting them and pairing them up. I’m shocked with variation in quality with bulb size, I preorder mine from farmer Gracy (always a discount) all of them were nice big bulbs, ordered some more for my new border from crocus the tulips were not great, bought some from the garden centre and wasn’t impressed. I’m prepared for winter, I’ve got the insulation up, the tender plants are under cover. Crocus in the lawn looks beautiful, but you need hundreds, I planted 750 in my lawn, took me a whole afternoon. Any tips to keep the humidity down in winter?
