      It's a year later, but I'm so glad I found your video! I live in the southern U.S. in zone 7b, and I'm just now getting around to planting my tulips, daffodils, crocuses, and grape hyacinths. I also have a flower farm that is partly in my orchard. Your orchard and bulb bed looks beautiful!

    I've planted tulips in mid-January, during a short thaw between snowfalls, and they still came up just fine.

      Cheers Nick! I haven't spotted anything growing through just yet, but saying that, the weather's been so horrible here for the last few days and the ground's covered in snow that they might've started and I won't have known. I'll definitely be uploading an update once they start (all being well) flowering!

    I'm still planting my daffodil, tulip, crocus and hyacinth bulbs in the ground and in pots. I'm looking to buy some discounted bulbs, but I have to prechill tulips and hyacinths in my planting zone and I have to have all my bulbs planted by the end of this month. So I'm not sure if I should buy them or not.

    • @niallgardens
      @niallgardens  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      That's really interesting that you live in an area that means you have to pre-chill your bulbs. Whatever you choose to plant, good luck and I hope you get a great display!

      @dernellhilton2539 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@niallgardens Yes it is interesting but I'm not sure where you live, I live in the US and orders I placed, I have to prechill my tulip and hyacinth bulbs for 8 to 10 weeks vs other states like Oregon, Michigan, and Wisconsin those people don't because it gets really cold there. The prechill will help my bulbs bloom so beautiful.

    How do you think is it possible to plant daffodils, tulips and crocuses in the middle of February?

    • @niallgardens
      @niallgardens  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      I would say that if you already have the bulbs, it's definitely worth a try. Ultimately, they certainly won't be successful if they're sitting in a box or bag. I'm willing to bet that you'll still get on ok. You may get a few less flowers, and the flowers may be later, but I'd go for it! Good luck!

    Hi Niall, I am in trobles and need your help now. I am in zone 7a USA. I bought lots of tulips and there are on the way to me now. We have snow and the ground is frozen now. What should I do? Thanks

    • @niallgardens
      @niallgardens  2 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Oh! My suggestion would be pots and containers. I think if the ground is so frozen it'll be an impossible task to get them planted. How about planting them into containers to get them going, then scatter the pots around the garden once they're flowering? That way, you can have a spring of playing with where you like them. Once you're happy with the placement, and the ground thaws, you could plant them in those exact spots for future years?
