Thank you for this review, and continuing to review Amazfit watches! I just recently bought an Amazfit Balance and while I kept in mind all the previous results of the older watches from your review, I wanted to take a chance on this one. This review coming out now gives me more confidence I'll stick with it. Surprisingly, my few days of sleep with the watch have been accurate in terms of duration (sleep/wake), so this is where things my vary for each person.
Thank you, Rob, for your amazing work. I would never buy a watch without first seeing your review. I was expecting the Amazfit Balance review since the watch was launched! You definitely make the best reviews!
I really appreciate the hardwork you've put in reviewing these devices. Honestly most of the reviewers offer similar content on the devices. This sort of creates an echo chamber in terms of reviews which are not even evidence based. Keep up the good work! And I am waiting for your complete review of fitbit charge 6.
Thank you for still reviewing Amazfit watches Rob! I thought you had given up on them. I'm still waiting for the Huawei GT4 Pro to make my final decision as to which of the two will wrap around my wrist. After watching your review, the Balance is a good contestant, mainly because of the plethora of metrics that is providing.
Excellent review! Thank you for the best reviews of these devices available on youtube. Have been watching your channel for a while now and am still amazed by the work you put into making these reviews.
Might be worth running some tests again on the Balance now that Zepp OS 3.5 and Zepp Flow just launched, could prove some improvements. Thanks as always for the precise reviews. I was tempted to sell my Galaxy 4 Classic for the GT4 but their app is meh...I am leaning towards the Balance.
I like the addition of running into the testing procedure. I think that you need to test this watches also on another person. I know it is not feasible to do it in a detailed manner but even some very small test would be greatly beneficial to show between subject variability of results.
I've had this for almost a year and can agree with this review of the watch. They've recently updated the watch but they still need to seriously improve the sleep tracking
Aqui do Brasil.
One question about the heart rate testing: Correlation for indoor cycling and outdoor running are both at 0.95. But outdoor cycling is 0.65. Given how the first 2 fared, there should be little reason why the 3rd fared given the 2 factors: indoor/outdoor and cycling/running. Another thing about this is the individual sessions analysis, there are outdoor cycling sessions where there are periods with totally missed signals (could this mean the watch wasn't worn properly, or maybe watch hanged?) and sessions where the watch performed to the level of the 0.95 tests. This suggests that there are perhaps other factors at play. On the sleep tracking, yea it has been mentioned by quite a few reviewers that it is generally inaccurate, whivh affects the readiness level as well. Hope Amazfit can solve this through OTA updates, otherwise it shouldn't be relied on for making decisions. And one last mention: Apple watches seem to be the most accurate but unfortunately can only be used by those with apple phones from what i'm aware of, same goes for samsung. Edit: I've read a number of comments saying the heart rate is very accurate for them when comparing with the polar heart rate tracking device, and some others that speak of accurate sleep stats from other videos. Given that sensors' results depends on many different factors including skin colour, weight etc., could it be an issue with the tester or the fit of the watch? This is only considering what was covered in this video, with at least over a dozen factors not mentioned.
Wow such a great analysis. Really wanted to see how much better the Amazfit Balance has become, since they've been pretty vocal about their accuracy improvements. This is my first time on your channel and when I saw the Balance vs heart strap analysis I was thinking it'd be great if this guy laid out how the other watches performed when set up with the same strap and BOOM there is was in the next minute. Really good job man, damn.
The great thing about amazfit watches is their battery life? Does any other watch do better here and also provide better tracking results? I think when you take into account the battery life this is a fair compromise. My understanding is that whilst the Apple watches are amazing they spend more time on the charger than on your wrist! ;)
@magorzatachp6370 The Huawei watches also have less fitness metrics (features) in comparison to the Amazfit Balance, which also has training readiness via heart rate variability, body composition measurements, NFC and the AI coach.
@@simdencard body composition is not accurate, readiness is not a thing really, always over 80 points even if you feel like crap in the morning. And HRV isn't really availible, you can't tap into those values. I have this watch and like it very much, it's great as a smartwatch, but don't expect miracles from those functions.
I really want that Amazfit get succeed. They make really good and spending a lot of effort. I like their design. So I will be very happy if their accuracy gets improved.
I prefer long battery life over the best accuracy. Most devices that perform better in your lists are way to expensive and only have a day or two days battery life... Considering that, the Amazfit Balance is the sweet spot for me. A watch that would need to be charged every day would drive me insane

how dumb. You prefer a watch that has long battery life but shit accuracy?? No point in wearing it then if it isn't giving you accurate data. Might as well just wear a regular watch. It will have even better battery, without the terrible data.
I agree. Battery life trumps a few points of accuracy. Accuracy on these devices is essentially relative to your baseline. So if your resting heart rate is 68 and the watch measures 75, we'll that's your baseline. My huawei has 14 day battery and is better than some watches that have 2 day.
หลายเดือนก่อน
@@wburke121 battery life never trumps accuracy. It's ridiculous to say so. If it measured 75 at rest, that doesn't mean once you start exercising, it would be correct. As soon as you start exercising, that shit Amazfit will be very innacurate. Don't believe me? Go watch the videos that give Amazfit watches truly shit reviews. They are a joke. I came for a amazfit review and you eneded up changing my mind on it. Thank you for your hard work! The precision is really relevant for me! You're worth a sub for sure. Also I was really happy to see my hometown on your gps tracking to work
Love my Balance, apart from the glass screen does scratch way to easy 😢 I was folding up a jacket after washing it, and accidentally brushed my wrist up against the zipper, and unfortunately the zipper was of metal, so it left a really nasty scratch in the glass 😢 So I will definitely recommend people who want to buy the watch also buying a watch case/screen protector for the watch.
For run tracking with GPS most Amazfit devices work very well, sure, heart rate isn't their forte but as general running devices they work great with huge battery life normally.
I had one of their earlier watches and was significantly disappointed with the metrics. Design is amazing, results awful. They are expensive, the new ones better be massively improved
I bought my wife the gold blue one and she has had it for 3 days now. So far, I can tell that it looks amazing, but I dont believe it is accurate. Sleep is bad. They still don't track deep and rem separately. My wife slept very bad the first night, but the watch said it was very good. Like it didnt catch the sleepless first 1 hour and half at all. The other day, she received a notification that the SpO2 was low, which was not correct again. While she was sitting and talking to me, the HR was showing 54, which I don't believe as well, so I have some doubts about HR as well. Looks like it is a perfect stylish watch to motivate you to move around and achieve some health goals, which is nice. I like the App, the Programs they added in withings+. It is very clean and structured and if you are into these things and follow them I believe it will bring benefits.
@thequantifiedscientist Thank you for the extremely informative videos! Has withings sent you a scan watch 2 or a nova yet? They really make the best looking watch!
Hello from Portugal, your reviews are unique and amazing, can you please check the new zepp update in the Amazfit Balance, its supposed to improve heart rate...etc tks
No pace zones. Heart rate zones based on a max HR of 220-age, no custom value (30 BPM too low for me). A single vibration at end of a workout step without a countdown & without audible warnings. No scheduling save AI but only up to 10k. Not for serious training.
Excellent review Rob, you gave me a laugh with the intro of a watch that doesn't suck haha. I have a question about the Huawei Band 8, have you tried it again? 2-3 updates came out that focused on the heart rate sensor, I ask because it has the same one as the GTR and in your tests it was a little better than those that have the TruSeen 4 sensor but not equal to the TrueSeen5
Hi, have you done a study of how different types of straps effect these type of watches? Doing that for every watch and strap combo doesn't make sense but it would be good to know if there is an impact with different strap types.
Thank you 😊 it would be awesome that you would rank watches at the end of the video in the price category or recomend a watch thats better in this price category at that moment.

Amazfit recently pushed an ota update for GTR4 and GTR 4 to improve the HR algorithm. So maybe you can retest these devices. By the way amazing content !!!
Which watch would be best in your opinion, the coros pace 3 or the amazfit balance? For a person that barely use the watch besides phone notifications, sometime calls and some gym exercises. Thank you for the content Or would you recommend another one better?
Can you do a review on the North Edge watch? If possible, the E530 model. It advertises a lot of health tracking functions, and it even ECG analysis, but I do not see any reviews that supports this claims. Thank you!! I'm a fan of your channel anyway. Your review helped me be conscious of the supposed to be functions of smartwatches to us. And be more aware of the quality and value of the watches that we invest in. Thank you for sharing your knowledge with us!
As much as I love my second hand $15 Amazfit bip as a watch (you know, checking the time) and get the occasional notification I use it's hart rate tracker only for tracking my resting hart rate when I sleep and it seems to do a pretty consistent job. For activities where I would want to know my hart rate during exercise I'd wear a chest strap. But usually I don't care (I have a Magene one with an empty battery...). I don't do any hart rate specific workouts anyways. I'd much rather buy a powermeter for my bike. (which is cheaper than buying an apple watch) Also I only have to charge my Bip once every 4 weeks! So there's no beating that.
I love your reviews Rob, keep them coming. I think a lot of us that are waiting for you to review the ultrahuman ring. Can you tell me if it's in your plan to review it in the near future ?
sadly another smartwatch that just doesn't cut it on the sleep side, but at least we have this site and one or two others, to give us a reasonable insight into their accuracy, in stark comparison to most tech journo's, who are clearly in the game for some kind of recompense, or just can't be bothered
thanks for making thi video. seeing your chart 19:50, I am not sure how to read properly, is Huawei GT4 worse than Amazfit Balance for sleep? is it far worse or just very slightly? And for the overall score Huawei GT4 got 3.5 star, and Amazfit Balance got 3 star. So you still recommend more on the GT4 just slightly?
I love my balance watch. Unfortunately I scratched the screen within 5 days so make sure you get a screen protector. I've also got screen burn trying to polish the scratch out 😢
Rob, I'm not sure if you've done this already, but how about testing two Polar H10 side by side? I think this would provide some insight into how reliable and accurate it is to test smartwatches by referencing H10.
Please make a video on g shock dw h5600, it has a heart rate sensor and sleep tracking ,its made in collaboration with polar..it would be great if you reviewed it.
Price over form over function. It's a shame Huawei was driven off the US market. The only ones who can compete with the Chinese when it comes to price are other Chinese.
Happy new year rob! Could you possibly do a review of the Redmi watch 3 Active or Redmi watch 3. The watch 2 lite had some pretty accurate sleep tracking so I was wondering if the Watch 3 Active is an Improvement. This would really help since I'm not sure if I should buy it or not. Thanks bro!
I saw that you’ve also tested the Muse S gen 2 for sleep.. Could you please make a video on that? Would be great to see something else than wrist worn devices!
I'm shocked at how well Apple Watch does for you. I've had the 7, 8, and 9 and it just doesn't work well on my wrist. It would register either too low or too high, and the calorie calculation was way off (they are off anyway, but it would think I burned way more calories than realistic).
Looking froward to see more amazfit watches reviewed by you as they are price friendly. I have not yet bought a watch from them as the features still are not fully reliable.. 👍
I just thought that in your b-roll on running you were shown holding a camera gimbal. You were speaking of low hand tension while indoor cycling and running. I imagine the hand holding the camera while running is under a very different situation than if you were running and not holding anything in your hand.
First Amazfit that don't totally sucks😂. Maybe (after an Amazfit that I had some years ago and that give me my first contact allergy) I'll give it a chance. Thank you for your detailed analysis!
@@TheQuantifiedScientist I mean the HUAWEI WATCH 4 and HUAWEI WATCH 4 PRO, it's the same hardware but different presentation, one it's in titanium and another one come in a rubber band.
Great job Rob
As much as I love my second hand $15 Amazfit bip as a watch (you know, checking the time) and get the occasional notification I use it's hart rate tracker only for tracking my resting hart rate when I sleep and it seems to do a pretty consistent job. For activities where I would want to know my hart rate during exercise I'd wear a chest strap. But usually I don't care (I have a Magene one with an empty battery...). I don't do any hart rate specific workouts anyways. I'd much rather buy a powermeter for my bike. (which is cheaper than buying an apple watch)
Also I only have to charge my Bip once every 4 weeks! So there's no beating that.
4 weeks?!!Long-lasting battery life
Could you do a video with the Redmi Watch 4?
I find it the best looking and phenomenal value for money, so subjective opinion indeed....
Thanks for your reviews
Nice video. So which one is better, amazfit balance or huawei gt 4 ??
So you still recommend more on the GT4 just slightly?
lol USA 200$, EUROPE 250€....gotta love equal prices.
Great videos! Can you test the accuracy of the CMF WATCH PRO byNnothing?
I love my balance watch. Unfortunately I scratched the screen within 5 days so make sure you get a screen protector. I've also got screen burn trying to polish the scratch out 😢
Good job, Rob. Happy new year.
Thanks! Happy new year too!
Love this watch!! Great review!
Looks like form over function, thanks for the review
Price over form over function. It's a shame Huawei was driven off the US market. The only ones who can compete with the Chinese when it comes to price are other Chinese.
Happy new year rob! Could you possibly do a review of the Redmi watch 3 Active or Redmi watch 3. The watch 2 lite had some pretty accurate sleep tracking so I was wondering if the Watch 3 Active is an Improvement. This would really help since I'm not sure if I should buy it or not. Thanks bro!
which one is better, Garmin Forerunner 45 or Xiaomi Smart Band 8?
I still can't decide which one is better between Huawei GT4 & Amazfit Banlance
I saw that you’ve also tested the Muse S gen 2 for sleep.. Could you please make a video on that? Would be great to see something else than wrist worn devices!
I'm shocked at how well Apple Watch does for you. I've had the 7, 8, and 9 and it just doesn't work well on my wrist. It would register either too low or too high, and the calorie calculation was way off (they are off anyway, but it would think I burned way more calories than realistic).
Huawei GT4 or Amazfit Balance?
Huawei GT4 of course, have a better HR sensor
@@francobellomo9979 not true both useless
Lacks some smart features which Balance has like Readiness. I personally switched from gt4 to balance and like it more. Also i fond the app better
@@francobellomo9979
Gt4 gps max 20h.
Balance gps max 52h.
Readiness is not that important but NFC payments are :) of course this feature doesn't work in the US, but works like a charm in Europe!
Thank you man. Love your work.
Looking froward to see more amazfit watches reviewed by you as they are price friendly. I have not yet bought a watch from them as the features still are not fully reliable.. 👍
Hello, would you please do a comparison of the "Oura ring" vs the " Ultrahuman Ring AIR" review? Thank you ! ♥
Thank you! amazing work!
What about the Huawei Watch fit SE?
Great video as usual.
Which do you think is the best watch I can buy, especially regarding health?
Hi Rob! Thank you for your work. Helps a lot! What is the best smartwatch for the weight lifting?
For cycling and other strenuous activities best to pair a chest strap and use that.
Awesome content. Thanks. What about the Suunto, have you tested that?
Great video! When do you expect to review the amazfit bip 5?
Great breakdown. Also have you tested the amazfit cheetah /cheetah pro? How does cheetah compared to balance?
I'm interested to know which watch is better for you, the Amazfit Balance or the Garmin Vivoactive 5
Can you do a Huawei Watch Cyber test? Thanks
great test and video! Can it broadcast HR to for example Garmin Edge 830 ?
I just thought that in your b-roll on running you were shown holding a camera gimbal. You were speaking of low hand tension while indoor cycling and running. I imagine the hand holding the camera while running is under a very different situation than if you were running and not holding anything in your hand.
First Amazfit that don't totally sucks😂. Maybe (after an Amazfit that I had some years ago and that give me my first contact allergy) I'll give it a chance.
Thank you for your detailed analysis!
Love your video so much, hopefully famous branch will notice your great work and help you to get moẻ devices
How about testing Amazfit Active? It has a good price/features ratio, and some TH-camrs are saying it is better at measuring HR than previous Amazfits
Bro your content it's awesome, could you review the Huawei watch 4 or watch pro?
That so much man! Which Watch Pro do you mean (CMF Nothing)?
@@TheQuantifiedScientist I mean the HUAWEI WATCH 4 and HUAWEI WATCH 4 PRO, it's the same hardware but different presentation, one it's in titanium and another one come in a rubber band. I think is the last Huawei smartwatch pro version, is the next generation after huawei watch 3 but they have not done as much marketing as other devices.
And man, I suggest you enable the subtitles and the title in another language, I am a Spanish speaker and I have not found anything similar to your videos, everyone speaks from experience and not from data. I think the Spanish-speaking community would really love your content.
