Modern commercials are so slick and "optimized" that most of the time, they end feeling sterile and forgettable. You can almost feel the upbeat optimism that permeated the USA in those days. Yeah, sure, it's consumerism, but damn if it didn't have a FUN to it. I miss it.
It feels like I'm watching something out of a whole different universe I mean everything is so golden in these commercials it's like watching a brighter world that doesn't exist anymore.
as a fellow Corpsman you know the struggle from service, we once talked about being in Okinawa at one point. At any rate, I am grateful you are doing this, I deployed so much a lot of the 90s were taken from me, thank you dude, you are solid semper gumbi DEVIL DOC
i have been watching your channel for some time dave. and i got to admit you do a good job bring back the 90s in such well crafted videos and being born in 1986 i remember so many of these commercials so thank you dave for bring back so many memories
Commercials were so much more diverse back in the 90's where they wouldn't repeat all the time, everything today is all about pharmaceuticals trying to hook you.
my wife & i were watching what's now called 'linear tv' tonight on the CW network. a couple of series produced by the CBC, the canadian broadcast company. all the ads were 'old people' ads like for pharmaceutical drugs & insurance policies. CW was, not so long ago, the network for premier programming for young people, like the series in the early 2000s, ONE TREE HILL. now, young people no longer watch 'linear tv'. it's only the olds who watch it. like me!
nice! i didn't know that was copland. i remember these 'BEEF' ads too. haven't seen them in ages! but for me what hits me in the nostalgia feels are the PACE ads. 'NEW YORK CITY! GET A ROPE!' i'm dyin'!
16:17 - 16:31 That awoke a memory of periodically seeing that on TV and *always* wanting to try it. Breyer's probably doesn't even make that anymore. I always liked those "Beef: It's What's For Dinner" commercials. I do not miss the 90s, at all, but these old commercials do give me a fuzzy feeling.
nice set of ads, Dave! many I remember well, some remain foggy in my grey matter. lots of actors whose faces i recognize but can't put a name to as well. but is that Jane Lynch in the Clorox ad that begins at 29:52? sounds like Lynch & looks like her but I dunno! it looks like these adverts were broadcast around '92 - '94, right before the tech boom that made a lot of commercials hyper-fast with a lot of tech optimism! boy has our world changed! a killer set, Dave! thank you for publishing them!
Maybe you've seen this commercial that I saw on a burned DVD of the Monstervision Friday the 13th Marathon that aired on Halloween of 1998. A man is looking at a map, and when a blond woman asks if he's lost he pretends to speak Italian to her, asking where Cafe Verita is (I think that's what he says) and when she points it out right next to them, he asks her to join him. That's where it cuts off, and it's been a LONG time now that I've been trying to find it to see what it's for!
I was born in 1981 and was a kid and teenager during the 90s. Things were never the same after 9/11. I wish our economy was as robust as it was during that time.
I've watched Babe multiple times, and loved the Rugrats before Dil came along, but I *NEVER* made the connection that Babe and Chucky had the same voice actor until read your comment. I feel so slow right now.
@@cortneyperfume_madness480 I believe they added vertical live streams this year for TH-cam short lives. Just another way to add to the brand. They should be keeping the standard life format that I use as well from what I understand
@@DavesArchives I've seen TH-cam throw a few of these Shorts Live streams at me while scrolling through my shorts feeds, I hate them as they are never relevant to anything I'm interested in from creators I've never heard of, with some very low quality/effort content, so if this is how TH-cam is handling them, then it's gonna fail hard!!
I never get tired of 90s commercials; and I never get tired of Dave and his archives!
Back in the day when you’d recorded so you could rewatch at any time
Watching commercials from the good old years feels soothing
Yesssss soooooò very much so!!!!

@@Skkraright modern day commercials are so dry, dull and dreary the vibe and aura of these commercials is just something very special
I LOVE, LOVE, LOVE old commercials!!! Ty for this!
I watched so much tv as a kid these commercials feel like old friends
Ahh, more memories I didn’t know I missed. That nostalgia hits harder and harder every time it seems. Thanks Dave!
Daytime commericals really did hit different in the mid 90's, Thanks Dave 👍
Never get tired of this kind of content. Thank you SO much for what you do, Dave!
I appreciate your uploads. The other day I fell asleep to one of your videos and I thought I woke up in the 90s lol. Brings back so many memories ❤

Thanks for this Dave; it helped me cope with the loss of Jack Karlson today (the "succulent Chinese meal" guy). May he rest in peace 🕊️🙏🏽

28:06 Finally, a "Beef, it's what's for dinner" commercial so I can look up what song that is. It's the hoedown portion of Aaron Copland's Rodeo, btw.

Love the first ad. Absolutely! Pepsi, America's choice. 👏😘
Thank You Dave
RIP Jack Karlson! 🥡🥡🥡

Look forward to watching this with the Jaboody boys
How many women in here knew that Monistat 7 was Mycelex-7 at one time? I sure didn't. Such an educational set of commercials tonight lol 😂😂

That One Life to Live promo had me crying from laughing
I still love eating Toaster Strudels to this day especially the strawberry and blueberry 🫐🍓
Dave, tell me I’m tight so I can screenshot and show my friends
Sad today how the commercials are sadly, disgustingly different. I want to go back to these times!

Toaster strudel is certainly not better
Nutragrain sugar...it tastes like sugar cause thats what it is 😆
So many small product commercials back then. Seems like much more prescription drug commercials now.
Right, back then seems it was only Vicks Advil and Tylenol type commercials
i do!
Ok... toaster strudel got me!!!

Does anybody know who the mother and daughter from Zest soap commercial are? (11:16) Are they a real family or just actresses?
Back when had commercials for Cheese, Beef, and Milk.
Well, Something!
