Solid video! I just bought a bottle of black eel. I found that the regular black wasn't cutting it for my TWSBIS, because they're already such dry writers. To get a little more shading I mix the regular black and the black eel together. Brings down the dry time a little too.
+VittaR I just got the ink today and it's working great in my Prera which was pretty scratchy with the regular Noodler's Black. It also works great in a medium point Gray Retro Pop Pilot Metropolitan I ordered alongside the ink.
I just bought a bottle a couple of days ago and I'm very pleased with it. It lubricates XF nibs nicely, it's very black, does not feather on most paper and it's waterproof. So far, I have found it to be fairly quick drying. This might become my "go to" black ink.
I'm new to this ink. I eyedropped it into a fine Preppy and I was genuinely surprised how smooth it feels. With the same nib in a pair of other ED converted Preppies, Herbin Éclat de Saphir and Lamy Turquoise - two of my go-to inks - have a noticeable degree of feedback by comparison. I may well use this more often as my default black ink. I'm not sure if it would leave staining residues in barrels and feeds, as I found to be the case with Baystate Blue, but I can live with that if it does.
Great review. I had similar experience with this ink. I did notice the shading and I'm still not sure how I feel about it having just changed over from Borealis Black which has no shading.
Is Black Eel a very wet writing ink, and does it provide lubrication to writing? Because I want to use this in my Platinum Preppy Fine (which is very dry writing and very scratchy).
+Adil Jiva I'll add it to the list for what samples to order next time! ...however; I already have roughly 140 samples to be tested in my ink-drawer... so, I probably won't get to it for... well... a while...? =-/
I just want to say thanks for your fun, yet thorough, reviews.
Wow this is amazing. Thank you so much. I cant believe it’s the first time I saw this video.
Great analysis !!

Just bought this ink last week and can't wait to try it. I'm hoping it writes smoother in my really fine point pens due to the lubricated quality.

Great video. I also have way to much time on my hands so I'll be watching the rest of the vids

I just ordered this because my lamy black cartridge basically dries grey on my midori md paper
