Much as I love Sidekick Simon this brief arc with Zoe still stands as a bittersweet, heartwarming epilogue that shows exactly why Alan Partridge is so good. Yes, the characters are funny and the comedy funny but the human aspect beneath it all is what has ultimately made Alan such a success over the years and raised him high above his peers who all too often fall into one joke, catchphrase cashgrabs …
… watching Alan’s clear infatuation with Zoe, his clumsy flirting, his unrequited love and the use of the Kate Bush song “The Man With the Child in his Eyes” makes this one of my favourite MMM moments.
