- Dramatic flooding across Central EUrope left at least half a dozen people dead as forecasters warned of more rain to come.
Poland, Austria, Czeckia and Romania were particularly hard hit by Storm Boris in what could be some of the worst flooding in the region for 30 years.
Romania was forced to set up displacement camps and launch volunteer rescue operations, with the president Klaus Iohannis offering his condolences to the victims' bereaved families.

Water that in part in the past was then kept on glaciers and released naturally in spring and summer helping to keep groundwater levels stabel. Might be a big project, but finding a way to safely store such water masses might be a way to counter effects of climate change. Here in Franken(part of Bavaria) we had several droubts over the past years with record temperatures and i fear in the near future we may get more sever water-shortages.
One of the things I love about being eastern European is how blasé we are over disasters. "Oh, the river's overflowing and sweeing away villages? Well, I still gotta go on my morning run!"
