    So the thing about Saurfang (main orc in the cinematics) and Anduin (the human king) is Anduin's father Varian set aside the Horde vs Alliance fighting to allow Saurfang to take his son's body away so he could give it a proper burial (the snowy flashback in Old Soldier). Saurfang promised that he would never forget this. So even before this expansion they have a connection and is another reason he didn't kill Anduin. There's another cinematic (not the same movie level quality, more like a regular in-game one) that connects some things where they, Anduin and Saurfang, meet up before the last one and decide that instead of just stopping this specific conflict, they want to break the cycle of hatred and focus on fighting battles that actually matter.
    The sword, Shalamayne (it's a named sword in a fantasy story so pretty cool, lots of lore, etc), was also Varian's, and previously he was the only one who could take it apart. So being able to do so is like Captain America wielding Thor's hammer.

    It's so fun watching people, who aren't familiar with the lore, try and make sense of the story. And you two have really been on point with most of it.
    Also, if you watch the Cinematic trailers, you will get the major story-line of the expansion, but if you like to see some of the sub-plots as well, I really recommend the In-game cinematics as well. There are a bunch of them, but it helps tie the events between the trailers together. If you look up "Battle for Azeroth in-game cinematics" on Google, you'll run into the wiki page that has them all lined up. I'd say its worth a watch.

    This is a great reaction, love how much youve been paying attention to the story! So heres a brief recap from someone with over a decade of wow/warcraft in general under his belt:
    Cinematic 1: King Anduin Wrynn (who as a prince actively preached peace) is struggling with the concept of leading his forces to war. After capturing Varok Saurfang (one of the Hordes most esteemed warriors) he takes a chance in subjecting his frail human priest prince form to one of the most grizzled Orc warriors, knowing Sylvanas had wronged them both beyond redemption.
    Cinematic 2: Varok Saurfang, now freed, travels to Outland (formerly Draenor, home of the Orcs; shattered by Warlocks and the Burning Legion (an army of demons hell bent on destroying all worlds)) to converse with Thrall, who was the founder of the modern horde as he united the Trolls (blue boys with jamaican accents) and Tauren (minotaurs with a native american-esque culture.) as you can see, he talked him into at least showing up for the assault on Orgrimmar.
    Cinematic 3: Doesnt need too much explanation, other than at this time Sylvanas (leader of the forsaken, the Hordes branch of undead) is leading the horde as per the last Warchiefs request, who supposedly heard the spirits call to him and tell him Sylvanas should be warchief of the horde.
    Next expansion Im hopingwe explore the whispers which lead Sylvanas to being warchief.
    Keep up the warcraft/blizzard ent. Reactions please! These are super fun 💖💖💖

For each expansion (this one being Battle for Azeroth), there are TH-camrs who compile all the cinematics and cut scenes into a "movie" (such as th-cam.com/video/LK--RQ0aMjg/w-d-xo.html for BfA).

    He died in the battle challenging the Warchief (in this case Sylvanas), but he actually won due to her using magic, which is fordbidden in Mak'Gora (challenging the Warchief). So he kinda won. And he saved the Horde from her tyranny. And he got his death in honor. Dude fought in 3 wars, I can see why he is tired.

    The place with the wheat fields is the home world of the Orcs (the large green people.) It was torn asunder several years ago by multiple portals to many worlds being opened and the energy started to tear the planet apart, that is why you see land masses floating around. This is why Saurfang, the grizzled warrior says it's wrong.

    in the 2nd video, they're in a region called Nagrand, which is on another Planet to where the alliance and horde are. This planet is called Draenor but it was destroyed many years ago. All that is left is a few floating islands which are slowly disappearing. The Orc Saurfang finds on the planet growing crops if the former leader of the Horde, his name is Thrall.

    As a fan of Warcraft, it was really cool watching y’all react to seeing these cinematics with fresh eyes; it surprised me how much detail you picked up on without knowing all the backstory, so good job! 99% of the game’s story is mostly told through playing it, and some of the important parts are told through cinematics.
    Their highest-quality cinematics are the ones y’all watched, but most are either animated live in-game or with the lower-quality in-game assets, so there’s quite a bit that happened between each of the videos y’all watched.
    If you’re interested in seeing some of the stuff that happened between each of the cinematics y’all watched, there are several TH-camrs that chronical the overall story that’s only seen in-game, but the most popular and comprehensive is Nobbel. He has a playlist dedicated to just the newest story, which is “Battle for Azeroth.” The playlist is WAY too long to watch all of, but the stuff directly related to the cinematics you watched are part of “The War Campaign,” which has stories and videos that are only seen by players on each side of the war (Alliance or Horde), and some that are seen by both kinds of players. Nobbel talks about all of them, so if you ever get bored and want to know more of what happened leading up to the movies or what happens after, scroll through the playlist for anything that has “War Campaign” in the title:
    th-cam.com/play/PLV3Yvqnl3FYfINfPJLGJNQvyq0gQRoNIh.html
    As a final note, I 100% agree that they should make this stuff into a proper movie or long-form series. There was a Warcraft movie years ago, but it was about some of the early lore that’s completely unrelated to what y’all watched, and the movie didn’t make as much money at the box office as they thought it would (except in China where it had its biggest return), so hopefully they continue making them, but it’s not super-likely unfortunately.
    Great video y’all!

    The 2nd cinematic here takes place on the shattered orc homeworld of Outland, once known as Draenor.
    Its little more than a series of asteroids floating in space. It still has an atmosphere but almost everything is barren save 2 zones. And even they are on their way to being destroyed.
    Nagrand is where this takes place, its full of rolling hills and that giant white mountain in the distance is the holiest site to the orcs
    One of the interesting things about warcraft is in warcraft 1 and 2 the orcs were the villains. With 3 and world of warcraft they went in with the premise of "what if the orcs were the good guys, and the humans were the bad guys?" Ina twist on standard fantasy tropes.
    Sadly they eventually have gone back to making the horde the bad guys....twice now.
    While the human led Alliance went from this falling apart nation prone to corruption and war crimes whose own people it often mistreated.....back to the generic good guys
    Thrall, the younger orc in the 2nd cinematic, was the old warchief of the Horde that freed the orcs from internment and slavery (by the humans) and helped free them of demonic corruption.
    He stepped down to try and help Azeroth (the main planet of wow) after a calamity called the Cataclysm, and his successor became....basically orc hitler.
    Like his war crimes line up with the nazis war crimes.
    He helped depose garrosh but the warchief who replaced garrosh was killed and sylvanas took his place.
    Shes basically elf stalin
    So understandably thrall is kinda pissed with himself

    I am impressed on how close to spot on they were on the basis of Mak'Gora, which would be translated into a "duel of honor". Orcs used this to duel others one versus one, where only brute force was allowed (so no magic) along with no one else interfering, and the winner would walk away and claim the honor. Big importance is to read "brute force", which includes no magic. When Sylvanas used her magic on Saurfang, it stirred some emotion and thought processes through out a lot of the players. 1. It goes against the rules of a Mak'Gora, and she denied Saurfang his long sought for death in honor. 2. We have never seen her use these kinds of power before, so many were left baffled as to where and how she had obtained this power. It is later explained that she has made a contract with "the jailor" which has been introduced in the Shadowlands, and with that contract, she obtained higher powers.

    • @TruOnyxfire
      @TruOnyxfire หลายเดือนก่อน

      This is completely wrong and there's always someone that makes these claims without actually knowing the facts. Mak'Gora is, indeed, 1 on 1 combat, and "brute force" has nothing to do with it. The challenge is made, terms are set forth (such as weapons, magic, items, etc.) and must be agreed upon before accepting and starting the combat. If both sides agreed to no magic before combat, then it would be forbidden and if someone used it, it would be seen as cheating and dishonorable and they lose, technically. If the challenge is put forth and accepted and NO TERMS are discussed, then ANYTHING GOES. This is a well-known fact of Mak'Gora. It is also an Orc-only tradition and no one else is honor-bound to participate or accept the challenge, except orcs. Orcs don't even expect other races to observe the tradition or honor it brings, but they can still challenge another race and they, themselves, are still honor-bound to follow all the rules, even if the other does not, or be dishonored. Saurfang DID die an honorable, warrior's death and did so while saving countless lives in that battle, making Sylvanas lose her cool and lose her faction and did all of this honorably. Which is why the Forsaken opened the gates and accepted Saurfang and the rest of the army in, to unite the factions against Sylvanas.

    Sylvanas was once good. She was a high elf who was killed by the second Lich King and was turned into a Banshee and became known as the Banshee Queen. For a while she served the Lich King until she eventually broke free from his influence and helped many other undead break free and they all became known as the Forsaken.
    Ever since we defeated the Lich King Sylvanas has been searching for a way to conquer undeath and break the cycle of life and death. Right now nobody knows her true motives as right now she is serving a being called the Jailor in another realm called the Shadowlands. The Jailor is allowing her to draw power from a place called the Maw which is why she is so freaking powerful right now.

    Essentially, the battle you saw in the first few trailers was the battle of Lordaeron. During the battle, Sylvanas (crazy elf lady) left Saurfang to die. She sent him to kill the Alliance King knowing full well he was outmatched. As you know the King spared him due to his inkling feeling that Saurfang was an orc with honor in all this. After they decided to work together, Saurfang set out to find the only other Orc with enough influence to swing the tide in this battle; Thrall. Thrall was a Warchief of the Horde at one point, a very good one up until the moment he gave it up and passed it to another Orc (Garrosh Hellscream...but that was a whole other can of worms). Thrall now living in Nagrand (Draenor) is sought out by Saurfang who follows two assassins. Which means Sylvanas also is aware of Thralls influence and sets out to kill him before he joins the war. Saurfang thwarting that plan, rallies Thrall to his aid. At this point we skip some important beats. There's a rescue of a Tauren leader named Baine, there's an interaction with Jaina Proudmoore that serves as a little of backstory. There's also an in-game cinematic that gives a little bit of a history lesson of the two factions right before they all set out to Orgrimmar for the final battle. It's been a great story. I've been a fan of Warcraft for years and the cinematics for the game are amazing. This particular expansion has really set the bar high in that regard and I can't wait to see the cool stuff out of Shadowlands (the newly announced Expansion coming this year). Anyways, you two seem really into this stuff. This is now the second video I've watched of you two. You've earned a new subscriber.

The other Orc ist Thrall (Go'el) and the old Leader of the Horde (Vol'jin - a Troll - followed him and after his death Sylvanas Windrunner).

      Nope, Anduin was always a priest, not a paladin, and Blizzard has confirmed Anduin is still a priest, even though they admit they're bending the lore pretty hard to let him wear plate armor and fight like a paladin would.

    When Saurfang says that the world is falling apart, he means the world of people, their relationship, war, etc., not the environment. Btw, Lord of the ring movie was made after these characters and they adopted these characters, not the opposite

    Interesting to see this from an outsider's perspective. Though, for a bit of context, the weight of a scene where the current King of the Alliance, and the previous Warchief of the Horde are together carrying the body of Saurfang into the Horde's capital city is HUGE.

    Nicole, us players have been begging for years for Blizzard to make a cgi movie or limited series using the style of graphics from the cinematics, they are so beautiful. The other orc is Thrall, he was the Horde's Warchief for a long time, he actually built their capital city, Orgrimmar, and founded the Horde on Kalimdor, their home continent. He gave up the leadership a few years ago after certain events and went off to sort of work out his life and live with his wife and family. He's a pivotal character in the Horde's story, and a particular favorite of mine. And Andruin giving Varok his sword has special meaning - that was his father's sword.

    Basically the challenge Saurfang issued prohibits anything aside from weapons. Sylvanas using magic strips the mantle of warchief or leader of the Horde from her.

    • @baisansebastian3358
      @baisansebastian3358 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      Can ya'll stop parroting around this BS about magic being prohibited? Multiple Mak'Goras have included magic,and multiple weapons along with it. The rules of a Mak'Gora are decided by the 2 participants,and no one else. Thrall used magic in the first Mak'Gora against Garrosh,and no one gave a damn because neither of them forbade its use beforehand. And no,Thrall did not lose the Elements because he 'cheated',rather because he fell on a path of Vengeance and used his tools of Justice to reach the end of said path. This is even stated in-game.

    That other orc saurfang meets in that world, the world is the orcs home planet, they dont actually come from the one in the game, that whole story is to long to write here, but anyway, that orc is the original leader of the modern horde. But he left to build a family and to study shamanism more closley there has been 3 leaders since him, another orc, who started out gray but went completley mad towards the end and was overthrown, a troll (the blue guys with the large tusks) who was good, but didnt do much then died in a demon invasion, and then the undead woman sylvanas, who is not leader anymore in game but during this cinematic she is. That is why saurfang saught him out. To help him overthrow her agian.

    Sylvanas has always been ruthless but she was not always evil. She was killed by Arthas and then resurrected by him as a banshee so he could continue to torment her. She gained her freedom and freedom for some of the undead and joined the horde, but since her death a part of her has never seen the point to life.

    Anduin, aka: "Blondie", is the son of a great, warrior king. But, he's no warrior. He's a priest, a powerful one. He's trying to fill some really big shoes by commanding the Alliance here. Adversely, the Horde is mostly made up of races that were previously enslaved. Thrall is the guy who Saurfang saves from the two assassins. He was the first, real leader of a free Horde. He's literally called "Green Jesus" by Horde players. Even by Forsaken, like me. We're undead. We trusted Sylvanas but she kind of betrayed us and used us.

    So I know this is 2 weeks old and you guys probably won’t see this comment but there is an actual Warcraft movie. It takes place before all the things in these trailers you’ve been watching. It gives you a bit of a background on some of the major players of WoW (Thrall, Guldann, Anduin’s father, and a few others). Some people didn’t like it but I loved the movie. You guys should check it out to get some more of the story! The Warcraft story actually begins with the Warcraft games (1,2, and 3). There are novels and everything. The story and lore of the games is fantastic!

    • @Tiamatwing
      @Tiamatwing 4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      know this might cause some arguments but IMO the 'no magic' rule isn't a constant part of the challenge, each challenge has its own set of rules defined between combatants as shown by various examples in Warcraft media, and considering the tradition comes from orcish culture such a rule would put shamans, the orcs spiritual leaders, at a disadvantage against any martial which makes no sense from my perspective.

    • @baisansebastian3358
      @baisansebastian3358 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      False. Magic is completely allowed,and so are multiple weapons. In the first Mak'Gora between Thrall and Garrosh,Thrall utilized lightning and no complain was made,nor was the Mak'Gora called off because of it. Rules are decided beforehand by the participants,and no one else. Same goes for wearing armor,fighting to the death or to submission,and any other silly rule people like to believe is fixed.

    I mean we don't have to talk about the quality of these cinematics. The animation team at blizzard is simply nuts. But you just have to appreciate the fact that two people that don't know anything about WoW Lore, not even the names of the races, can watch these cinematics and understand the basic story of them pretty much spot on. And yet there are so many small details and layers of story for the people who are familiar with the Lore. These are just a blast to watch for anyone. And that is an achievement in itself.

  • @Pineapplelesspineapplepizza

    So you guys might not understand the violation of Mak’gora that happened here. So it’s a challenge to the death with usually one weapon type but Sylvanas used magic that was not her power. So she pissed off the tradition and also called the horde useless. And this type of duel is for honor only.

    • @baisansebastian3358

    Anduin is a priest, not a warrior. His father, the former king Varian, was indeed a warrior and that was Varian's sword that was given to Saurfang to fight with against Sylvanas. They are forsaken (undead ) rogues that attack Thrall and Saurfang. You guys should totally play this game, I think you would like it a lot, but it was refreshing to see the perspective of a non player on the cinematics :)

  • @cheepvodka-gaming2629

    One thing to know to is the challenge of Mak'Gora is an honor duel between 2. Magic is forbidden and dishonorable. Saurfang knew he would likely loose, and he knew that she wasn't honorable and would cheat. He has been ready to die for a long time and wanted his death to sway the rest of the horde to turn against her. The sword given by anduin was his father's sword. King Varian was the only person to ever split the sword in 2 until Saurfang. It was a good moment for him. Saurfang has been my favorite WoW character since the beginning of legion. This expansion was terrible IMO but the war cinematics were great.

    • @karlstrud8351
      @karlstrud8351 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      *sigh* No... Magic is NOT forbidden and is NOT dishonorable. Do you see or hear anyone contest the victory of Sylvanas ? No. That myth comes from the shitty warcraft film, which is NOT canon. Magic is allowed in mak'gora, there are no rules in mak gora except the ones agreed by both fighter before the fight. Here, no exchange between varok and sylvanas, so no rules.

  • @tyleraz9176
    @tyleraz9176 4 ปีที่แล้ว

    Ironically, Sylvannas was one of the most iconic Heroines before she was raised into undeath - as you see her now. Go look up her backstories... You realise humanity was the reason she became what she is. There is no real good or evil - both sides are imperfect and fight their own struggles. Not to mention outside forces that make things messy since they can have both Alliance and Horde members... making it look like a political move against one another.
    Lore is thick in WoW. Best part of their franchise is the stories

    If you like the Blizzard cinematics you should definitly watch the ones from the previous expansions, maybe with just a little background information about the characters to make it easier to follow because their are constantly new threats and both factions get represented by different charaters over the time. And maybe also watch the cinematics about Diablo, they are great too

  • @LovelyHick

    The Shadowlands trailer shows where the banshee went after this, quick info on that worlds system of death, there are demi god "sheperds" who funnel the dead into a place called the shadowlands where different factions (angels/devils/fey) see to their indoctrination.
    Its been hinted at a lack of balance going on because everyone and their brother wants to live forever and does not commit to a cycle of life and death whatever form they take, thats a bad thing, leaves the alliance and horde here a meaningless nothing in a struggle thats gone on for longer than they have existed.
    The eldritch horrors of warcraft called old ones said it quite well "true torment is not death, its eternal".
