We have a 03 avalanche with 316000 miles on it still running like a champ original engine too.i been using regular 5w30 on it while time. Ive had no leaks or issues with mine at all. Still drive it daily everywhere even for work i use it and haul trailers for heavy equipment in plumbing. Like a hydrometer or a excavator.Love my Chevy!! And this is the easiest quickest oil change ive ever done. Its all right there and no jack required freaking awesome lol
i love my 03 avalanche, any advice on what to do with a beat up drive seat cushion? cant find a good replacement, that is the only thing taking a beating, haha
Made it look supper easy for those who are learning, however a 2 cent suggestion for next time. You, aswell as any should prefill the filter, helps preserve engine
@jperez1083 I just changed oil and oil filter on my newly acquired 2003 z66 Avalanche and I stand by my statement. I only needed a 15 mm socket and ratchet. The oil filter was a bit of a struggle to remove by hand, but my God, everything was so incredibly accessible! What's your beef? How would you improve things?
@@mikelouis9389 truthfully it’s not that bad just a pain to try and grip the filter by hand the way that pan is shaped that’s all. I didn’t have anything better to do 4 years ago so I complained about the filter
I have a question bro ❗️ the oil filter you had on the avalanche was longer and the new one you bought was shorter. Are the shorter ones better or does it matter which one you use ? I also have a avalanche
you may not know this question but on all types of engine like these there is a little plate looks like on the transmission you can see in the video but what is that little plate ?
You gotta reset the counter bro, I think you turn the truck off, turn the key to accessory, and press the gas pedal all the way down 4 times to reset the oil life percentage
I had a question, do you have to use a socket wrench to take the oil filter out, is there a different way to take it off or can I just use my hand? By the way great vid
There are special wrenches that fit the end of the oil filter that will be needed to take it off. They are cheap at walmart, amazon, or local auto parts place.
Great video I have a 05 chevy tahoe with the 4.8 with about 173000 miles on it I was thinking about switching from 5w30 Mobile One to 10w 30 would it cause any problems I only wanted to because of the high miles
I know this video is 7 years old now, but what happens if the nut is a diameter that doesnt exist? 15mm and 14mm are too big. I use 13mm, its too small.
Nice video. Used to change oil on my S-15 Jimmy and gave up for about ten years. Going to get back at it. This video really helps me remember. One question - there seems to be rust spots on the underside of the truck. Is that normal? I don't have any of these on my 2006.
Well, here in Michigan that is pretty normal. I also park mine outside year round so that doesn't help. I might clean that up and do an undercoating but haven't had the time. Glad the video helped you out, thanks for watching!
Enjoyed watching this video - i'm going to have my son help me change the oil next time G8T Bible verse (12:35) that has a lot of truth Tom (F4collector)

Gabriella Lehman Glad you found it helpful!
Valvoline high mileage works well for me.. red bottle , high 75k miles or more , thanks for the info
With ac delco filter from Oriellys ...so far so good

nice. Question, any issues with passenger side water leak from top or windshield area going down the pillar down to floor??
Thank you. that was so easy and informative.
You and your helper are awsome!!!
nice and thanks for reminding us all that kids introduced to learning today make for a stronger challenge tomorrow nice touche
Thanks brother 👊 Have a blessed day ✌️
Where Do You reset oil life indicator on the cluster ?
Turn key to drive position only . Do not start engine. Then press accelerator 3 times within 5 seconds and oil life will be reset
K n filters says not to use compressed air
Thanks for the tips and everything my daughter who 6 did it with me thanks.
Hi chevrolet tahoe and the suburban parts are compatible with the avalanche from 2002 until 2006?
+Daniel Mendez as far as I know it is the same chassis and engine
thanks
Daniel Mendez early Tahoe's have balls
You can use 10w 40 a thicker oil will help old tired engines.
Great video!
Rick, I had questions about pre loading the oil filter also. Great video and great comments
Glad you found it useful!
Those oil filters are a pain wish I knew of a longer version
A pain? If you think this one's a pain, stay away from other vehicles! This one is a dream!
@@mikelouis9389 nah they could’ve done better.

Thanks for the help I thought I was looking at the oil and could not find the plug guess i'm getting old headed out to finish the job.
+Roger Flemlng lol, it has happened to us all, glad you found it:)
Any issues with the Chevy avalanche
How many miles on the air filter.
How many miles on Truck
Great video
I tuned in specifically to learn what size wrench the plug takes before I crawled under the avalanche...was disappointed you didn't say.
He said 15mn and it is
greetings! i've been using high mileage oil on my '05 AV but am considering full synthetic. has anyone had issues with leaking over time?

Is your truck 4wd or 2wd?
4wd

Why does my truck saying change engine oil even tho I changed it

Look up a utube video on your car on how to reset the miles it’s usually juts holding a button down near your spedometer

Could be a standard but you are trying to remove? If those don’t fit it has to be a U.S. size
@@SSLFamilyDad I tried the 9/18 and a few others around that size. Turned out the nut was stripped and I had to order a new one in.
tutorial change 8 plugs?
+Daniel Mendez sorry man, vhavent had to do that yet
ok no problem
3:05 the 2-wheel drive version sits lower
Thanks for the info

SSLFamilyDad Ahh, Michigan. Here in Southern California we don't get any snow. I forget about the salt on the roads.
Very helpful video, thank you.
you can buy a new filter for about the same price of the cleaning kit.
yes but you can use the cleaning kit to clean the filter about 20 times so I am not sure I see the value in buying a new filter every year
I used valvevoline :(
Stephanie Trejo that's a great oil
Enjoyed watching this video - i'm going to have my son help me change the oil next time
G8T Bible verse (12:35) that has a lot of truth
Tom (F4collector)
F4collector let me see where you sign up
that was suppose to say oil pan
Dude I came here precisely to confirm the direction that the oil filter should be turned and you skipped that entire step. 😧🙈😶
It's not 15mm I just tried it!
Half the job is taking off oil filter no description on it waste of time
