I'm so hurt seeing all these hate comments towards Jainism. Plus eating plants is necessity. Eating what you find tasty like root vegetables is not. So what's wrong with trying to minimise cruelty), Jains straying away from their "Hindu roots" (which is false because Jain was never rooted from Hinduism). Just to answer to all these mockers, 2500 years ago Bhagwan Mahavir said that there are microbes in the air so we should not light fire unnecessarily as it kills them. At that time people used to mock Jains by saying things like:- OMG my face just hit a worm in the air. Ouch it's hurting. Well jokes on you. @@itsmeagain0306 I am not an expert but I have questions that need answers so I am going to ask and you can call me insensitive for that but my religion teaches me to ask questions. What has Jainism contributed to nationalism? Have they stepped out against invaders? Have they ever spoke about Islamic conquest? And about your contribution, lets agree that Jains are living as an inclusive community just like sindhis who work as a community. I see this as a maleficent practice when I come to know how they target competition against basically anybody who's not from your community.
A Jain friend once told me that they don't eat rooted vegetables because when digging the vegetables it can harm worms and other small insects living under the soil. It's not because "plants have feelings". They eat other fruits and vegetables because they can pluck it without harming an animal. I don't know if you'll have noticed but the categorization of what is a "living creature" has come from western sciences. In ancient India and south asian region, what we deemed as living is "prana" and only animals and humans are deemed as "prana". Plants, fungi and micro organisms like bacteria and viruses are deemed as "aprana". By Prana it means consciousness or the ability to have emotions. And this is what matter at the end of the day when you go on with your lives, if you are harming a creature/organism that is conscious. Even if you look at science it's obvious that to have emotions and feel pain you need to have a functioning nervous system connected to a brain.
Honestly, that is a very good point. I've never asked that from a Jain. I assume they can't dig and plant seeds cause that might harm insects and other creatures. So I don't think they can be farmers with that point. Unless however there is something I don't know about Jainsm in regards to growing seeds. I've heard that People who practice Jainism to a high level only eat fruits or vegetables that are plucked from trees and they try to live in a way they try to be conscious with every step they take not to harm any animal. It's about living a fully ahimsa life. I personally don't agree with everything in Jainism philosophy. I respect and admire all the teachings and it is all well intended to all conscious beings but, I don't think it is practical for a human to live a fully ahimsa life according to Jainism especially in the modern age. I also don't think it makes you a bad person if you are walking to your house and you accidentally step on an ant, the same way if a dog jumps in front of your car when you are driving and you accidentally kill it.

No dude..Not everything we eat is living thing. Fruits and vegetables doesn't have life, only the tree/plant does have life. They are just products of plants. For example, we get milk from buffalo or cow but that doesn't mean milk has life, only the animal has life... the same applies for fruits and vegetables. But eating green leafy vegetables which are completely plucked out is definitely wrong. As mentioned in the video, eating onions etc is wrong bcz the plant is plucked out completely but plants won't die immediately except very rare plants and the ones in a dying situation...We can take the potatoes etc very quickly and keep the plants back in soil so that there is no hurt to the plant but if the plant dies before we keep it back then it's wrong. Coming to bacteria, they are in lots of places and invisible to us. If we step on them, they will die but we are not doing that intentionally so it's not wrong.

Well, if we read more into the philosophy of Jainism. There are basically 4 kinds of hinsa 1. Prarambhik hinsa - violence necessary for survival (example drinking water, eating plans) 2. Virodhi hinsa- violence needed to defend ourselves (in case of attacks, during self defence, taking vaccines) 3. Udyogi hinsa- violence we do for the purpose of earing livelihood (example farmers, army officers) 4. Sankalpi hinsa- intentional violence (this is the worst type which can be avoided always for example - eating nonveg) Let me remind you that all types of hinsa are bad the only difference is the magnitude of consequences that one has to face as karma. The magnitude increases when we go from 1 to 4. To yaha jitne bhi log faaltu bol re hai ki jain army mai nhi hote ( my mama ji is in Indian navy from past 15 years) ya aur 200 tareeke ki faaltu baat krre.. Idiot believe
Wise understand
Better understand the science
Don't believe blindly anything
But in order to harvest a plant or sow a seed, we need to dig the soil. Are u saying, Jain's can never be farmers?

@@rajatgurjar_zwhat do you mean bro i think it's Buddha teaching
Buddhist has its roots 😊.

As a muslim I respect everyone's values and beliefs. If someone don’t want to end a life regardless it’s animal or plant, be respectful to that person's kindness.
Finnally A Educated One 😌👍🏻
But Mohammed says kill kafirs, primary duty of Muslims. Islam n Peace is like poison n nectar, nothing in common
Muslim too from Morocco. I agree. And am thankfull I learned about Jainism today. What a gift.....
I cannot go without onion tho 😢
Yes you preach these things here and then go eat meat the next hour 😂
Muslim and peaceful😂😂😂 what a joke😅😅😅
Well, if we read more into the philosophy of Jainism. There are basically 4 kinds of hinsa
1. Prarambhik hinsa - violence necessary for survival (example drinking water, eating plans)
2. Virodhi hinsa- violence needed to defend ourselves (in case of attacks, during self defence, taking vaccines)
3. Udyogi hinsa- violence we do for the purpose of earing livelihood (example farmers, army officers)
4. Sankalpi hinsa- intentional violence (this is the worst type which can be avoided always for example - eating nonveg)
Let me remind you that all types of hinsa are bad the only difference is the magnitude of consequences that one has to face as karma. The magnitude increases when we go from 1 to 4.
To yaha jitne bhi log faaltu bol re hai ki jain army mai nhi hote ( my mama ji is in Indian navy from past 15 years) ya aur 200 tareeke ki faaltu baat krre.. Jainism is a religion that is so deep and logical that even the jains themselves and this generation can not understand it (as common sense is too uncommon)
Pehle jaaniye aur padhiye yaha comment krne de pehle
Agreed
I don't know about this but got knowledge from you, thanks buddy.
And that quote is very good that common sense is too uncommon for this generation.
I can't take this much hate towards my religion 😭😭😭
Thankyou, I have not come from this area of the world but I must admit that it always makes me feel sad when I see plants die or even trimmed or cut. Thankyou for explaining this better so that we may understand this
