I'm a Chinese American who grew up in nearby Seattle and I remember this trip. It was major news and you could tell by the way that President Xi interacted with the students and staff that he was truly a man of the people. He just exudes humility and graciousness.

This is heart warming. I saw this video of this before. The students seemed so excited when asking questions, and listed very intently when President Xi spoke. His wife seemed excited as well.
And, I saw another video where President Xi visited a small town in US. I think he stayed at someone’s home. They welcomed him with open arms.
I remembered both video because President Xi was so humble and appreciative. He’s a great leader.
A lot has changed this then, so let’s see what China and US will do to ease tensions, and bring about better relations and outcomes.

I went to China on a EF tour through school in 08... I was in awe how beautiful the place was. went to shanghai, saw the terra cotta warriors and even had the chance to climb the great wall! such a place full of history ! i enjoyed my stay and would love to go back

Xi'an was my favorite city on the mainland. So much incredibly rich history from the start of the Silk Road, the First Empress Wu Zetien, First Emperor Qi's tomb and the massive tributes of terracotta soldiers/horses/chariots, and the recreation of the origin Fort that you can bike on....amazing city. Would go back in a heartbeat. My only regret was not visiting Sanxingdui.

At the dinner night with CEOs in the latest visit to APEC Summit 2023 in San Francisco President Xi invited 50,000 young American students to China on exchange study. The number of students this time is 500 times more than the last time President Xi invited students in the trip to Tacoma in 2013.
I hope more young American people to visit China either for travelling or exchange study. This will help them to get out of their bubble to see the real world on the other side of the globe. Seeing China and understanding the culture will open their minds. China 🇨🇳 is like a continent.

    • @samtat5873

Well said agree with you. Yes it's so true that can help the young people get more understanding about China.
Atleast much better them stay at home watching theirown govt and medias lair to reported fake news about how worst, bad about China to confused those young people beleived and hater Chinese people.

President Xi loved to take his entourage in an old bus to visit villages & towns around China during her early development. I saw these as a student in Beijing in 2004 & was a teacher there for 15 more years. He rarely gave advance notice as he wanted to see how local officials did their jobs & how they treated the people under them. He spent time talking to villagers and visited their homes wherever he went.
If none of you have ever visited or been to China, I highly recommend that you do. The more I hear of negative comments that are untrue , the more disgusted I feel. Most of our journalists have shallow or no knowledge of either China or Asian cultures & thinking.
Xi has been quite transparent with Biden during this & Bali’s APEC discussions. As to venues, they were all mutually agreed upon. Many of our politicians and journalists are really talking rubbish about optics. Their ignorance of diplomatic etiquette & true friendship are appalling. Their condescending comments are unqualified & utterly nitwitted !
I’m an American who has lived and worked in multiple cities in China over 15 years. Visited 170 cities in total. When I first arrived as a student in 2004, Beijing had many villages like Singapore where I grew up. Within a decade all villages were gone & high rise better quality housing, infrastructure were built & greatly improved. When I was there there were 3 subway lines. When I left a decade later for southern China, there are 23 subway lines. High speed rails were & still are built all across China, better than those in Japan & Europe where I too have lived. Everything is clean and things are managed better and better. People’s lives greatly improve each passing year. Most Chinese people are hardworking, willing to make sacrifices, & try hard to work efficiently to advance their country.
Under Xi, I saw the continual crackdown of corruptions. Gov officials are always held at a higher standard than ordinary people. If one is found to be corrupt or even have an inkling of any extra marital affairs, they are finished & jailed!! Poverty are greatly reduced. China is divided into Tier 1 to Tier 5 cities. By the time I left last year, China has begun developing and improving Tier 4 cities. The speed & determination of President Xi’s gov to develop & improve the entire country and his citizens lives are truly amazing.
China is now a capitalist-communist country. It is not a dictatorship. We have our Congress of 541 and they have their National People Congress of 2980. The difference between our system and China is that Her People & Her Country comes first. In ours, the politicians & their financial supporters come first. Too much infighting & bickering, our crime rates & homelessness have gone up while in China it’s low. When a country’s citizens live better lives, they become stronger, more creative and more willing to help others.

They are acknowledging 1) American kids are too stupid and easily brainwashed and 2) US is not smart enough to start a program for Chinese students so they can do the brainwashing or they think somehow Chinese kids are smarter/less gullible.

Thank you CGTN for this inspiring story; it is a timely expose of why deeply entrenched Western stereotypes of China as an impenetrable political system seriously blocks the capacity for engaging with China as an emerging superpower. Chinese politics needs to be scrutinised and understood to the same degree as any other advanced form of governance. The collective West in general and the US administration in particular must work to better understand the domestic political processes of the People's Republic of China (PRC); it is after all a global superpower, a nation with one-quarter of the world’s population, this alone demands a more nuanced appreciation of how power, money and influence is garnered within the PRC.

Lincoln is my very favorite American Republican, the one who said, every humble worker can become a McDonald's multi billionaire tycoon if he is skilled to make a lot of money, no matter if...the concept of food changed a lot in the meanwhile, fast food system can work on better food recipes, not necessarily on ...bombs of thousand calories creating addiction and obesity problems, we need to use the best inspiration as best diplomatic strategies as well, what unites us the most. It's nice to find out, President Xi is not having the Mao obsession, that good communists must starve in extreme poverty and exhaustion, we have android robots by now, those who need no food, no sleep, no paycheck, no family either love, no touristic adventures and no friendships.. there's a bigger boss out there that has a very different vision about what human nature might be, each time we deny what God decided for us to be ..we get in big trouble. Including the women fair equal human rights, women feel exactly what men do, having the freedom to study and know things, having the right to worth and have an opinion, women need to be worthy just like men do🎉❤🎉
