I stumbled across your video while researching more inform on the 12 Days ornaments. I am gathering and ordering what I need and will watch your video again. Thank you for this amazing insight!
Today’s my first day to be brave enough to start my 12 days of Christmas. I have been collecting all the supplies I need watching my videos everything’s printed off and ready to start.!! 🤞🏻
Nell thank you for showing all of the ornaments. Also for telling us all the trips and what other supplies we will need and where to buy them. They are so beautiful. So happy that you are back. Walk in Peace. May God bless you.
I can’t tell you how invaluable this video has been to me. I watched it multiple times before purchasing the patterns and supplies and I STILL refer to it as I’m making them. Thank you so much for sharing all this info! I purchased the full supply kit from Felt on the Fly and for anyone that is interested in it, the full supply kit comes with a print out of all the felts used for each ornament in whatever colorway you’ve chosen!
Wow! The ornaments are gorgeous! What a rabbit hole to fall into. Your work is exquisite. You have such beautiful treasures! Aaaaarrrrrgggghhh! I’m faaaaaaaaalling!
I bought the entire pattern sets for $75. When you break it down per piece they are not pricey at all. And yes please go with the wool felt. Regular felt just doesn't hold up. Soaking the stabilizer ruins them. Also, you can find the 6" cotton pipe cleaners at most local tobacco stores. They take a lot of time but are sooo worth it.
Best video ever!!! These ornaments are just lovely. It looks like you have taken great care in making these ornaments. Every detail is stitched with evenly spaced stitches and equal size stitches if I am explaining myself correctly. I just can not get over these ornaments. Great job. God bless.
Thank you so much, Nell, for sharing your experience and valuable tips with these beautiful ornaments. A fast way to remove the WSS: take a wet Q-tip and go over the stitch areas. The WSS will separate and you can simply remove the dry pieces or bigger wet pieces, without having to soak your entire work.❣
OMGOODNESS!!! I wish I had seen this….I have been soaking off the stabilizer and on some of the darker pieces with white threat it looks like the color may bleed into the white thread!
Loved making 3 each of Santa and Mrs Claus for myself, my daughter and daughter in law for years 2020 and 2021. For Christmas 2022. I plan to make a set of the elves for all of us. I do have the patterns for the 12 Days of Christmas and will give those a try as well. Lovely patterns and beautiful results.
These ornaments are so lovely! I have been wanting to switch to hand making gifts for christmas rather than buying things and I think I want to try these for next year! I have also been wanting to working with felt so I'm excited to try these. Thanks very much for sharing - you did an excellent job making these!! They look so professional!
When will you have time to cross stitch? It is amazing to me how much you can accomplish. The ornaments are exquisite. Each stitch perfect. Your running stitches were almost like you “measured” each one to make them look the way you wanted them. Not any two of my running stitches are the same. Well now, they are beautiful because your hands made them so. My hands would not be able to make them do. I love how organized everything in your box and kit. Thank you for a detailed, lovely tutorial. Amazing, just amazing!
Haha, my stitches look good becuase the pattern told me exactly where to place each stitch... ;) Her patterns are so thorough, anyone can make them look exactly like the model!
Also,I adore your watch! It’s like a beautiful slab of obsidian glass, gracing your wrist! Sorry,I’m aesthetically oriented person,I notice such subtleties 😊
Those ornaments are stunning!! They are so beautiful! Thanks for sharing all of your tips for making them. I'm sure your family will treasure them for years and feel so lucky to have a set of their own. Just lovely!!!
This brings back memories of my mom(who also cross-stitched in little hoops),she made these 12 days of Christmas ornaments out of DOUGH!! A salt dough,my brother has them now, they are adorable, made in the early 1979s 🥰
Thank you for this awesome video. I bought a Santa pattern from mmmcrafts a few years ago, but barely started it. I need to find it and get going. This was very encouraging.
You are soo informative!!! Thank you very much. I hope to purchase her instructions soon and try to make them in time for Christmas. Have a wonderful blessed Christmas 2022.
Thank you so much for this video. I've been wanting to make these for a while now and appreciate all your tips. Your ornaments are so beautiful and love how organized you are, makes me smile.
Your ornaments are gorgeous Nell!!! I was inspired the first time you showed your ornaments and I did make the first one. I just need to set aside some time to make the others.
Thanks for sharing your beautiful ornaments. I’ve just spent the last half hour looking at all the wonderful things at MMMCrafts, and making a list of everything I’ll need!
Oh Nell, those are all so very beautiful! Last year, I purchased Santa & Mrs Claus from the Twas The Night Ornament Series and have not made the time to start and complete them. I'm newly inspired to do so long before Christmas this year. Thank you for sharing your experience and showing each ornament - it was a pretty show and tell. 🥰
Your ornaments are fantastic, such a work of art! I looked at these ornaments a year or two ago but didn't buy because I too was intimidated by the people and their faces. Due to your encouragement, I just purchased the set containing the Santa & Mrs. Claus and plan on jumping in as soon as I collect all the supplies. Thank you for the wonderfully thorough video. Wish me luck!
Thank you so much for this video Nell - I’ve been hovering over the ‘buy’ button for these gorgeous ornaments for a while now. You inspired me to finally press it!
Oh Nel,you did such a beautiful job on this video showcasing those amazing adorable ornaments. You are very prolific, great teacher you ste. Thanks for sharing.
Those are gorgeous! You are so talented and make everything look so easy! I think I'm going to bite the bullet, maybe for Mother's Day, and order the supplies.
You are a mind reader! I’ve been looking at these gorgeous felt ornaments probably for a year now. I’ve never made the dive to purchase, but I just might do it very soon. Thanks so much for showing these beauties to all of us. Just stunning!
You gave wonderful tips! I purchased the Christmas Carol bundle, and I can't wait to Institute your ideas. Waiting for everything to arrive. After creating them I'll do the 12 Days of Christmas. Thank you.
I was inspired the first time you showed your finished ornaments and I've completed the first 2 days of ornaments. I totally agree that Larissa is an amazing designer and I'd like to do all her ornaments sets eventually.
I remember being absolutely captivated the first time you shared these last year. I’ve saved a few patterns on etsy but was always too nervous to try it. After watching this, I think I’ll give it a go!!!
Thank you so much for this video! These ornaments are on my wish list, but I have been a little intimidated to try them. Your video is so helpful and your finished ornaments are just beautiful!
Oh your ornaments turned out beautifully Nell!! I have been eyeing these since you showed them the first time, but never took the plunge. After watching this video I decided to go for it. I just ordered the pattern set and the full supplies kit from Felt on the Fly and can’t wait for it to get here. I hope mine turn out half as well. 😊😊 Oh, I almost forgot…thank you so much for all the little tips, especially where to find the information on the jewel tone color way. That will make it so much easier for any of us that choose those colors.
These are amazing! It was so wonderful to see all of them and hear about your experiences. I love spending my time with you. Happy Stitching, Stephanie
They are absolutely beautiful, Nell. Stunning. Those colours are to die for! And what a comprehensive video too. I looked on Larissa’s Etsy and I see what you mean! All her stuff is gorgeous.
Thank you! That was really informative. I bought the felt and tools kit the first time you showed them and got as far as rinsing all the felt. Your beautiful ornaments and video is now encouraging me to start the first one! 😀
Beautiful! You enabled me to look at her store and I fell in love with ‘twas the night before Christmas series. Patterns and a kit are purchased and now I just need to buy a new printer as mine died this weekend!
@@LittleYellowHouseCrafts thanks for the advise! I probably won’t be getting a laser printer as it just for occasional home printing but will keep that in mind for the ornaments and copy them at work!
Oh my gosh Nell! Those are beautiful, heirloom ornaments! Your boys will treasure them for life! I have long wanted to give felt ornaments a try and you may have just pushed me over the edge in a good way. Just stunning! Have you figured out yet how we can get more time in the day for all these wonderful crafts?? Thank you for sharing!
Beautiful ornaments. I bought all the patterns years ago but I don't want to use the Stick and Solvy. I don't have a laser jet printer so I was trying to figure out another way to transfer the designs. I gave up in the meantime. I bought a design from Bird Brain designs and you could do the same method or buy the Stick and Solvy already printed, it's for quilting cotton so I hope it doesn't run. Great Heirloom ornaments but you should make a set for each child or someday in the long away future they may be fighting over them and who wants to break up the set? Have fun. BTW...I've been a subscriber for years but for whatever reason YT quit sending me notifications. This has happened to other channels too. Same with my blogs I get by email. Why can't things just work right for us older folks? Yes, I clicked the Bell for All. Who knows....not me
Nell thank you so much for your information. I have looked at these ornaments and the Etsy store so many time and just could not purchase the entire set. However your information has so inspired my. My question is about the cotton pipe cleaners. I do not find the MJDK brand on Amazon. Are the pipe cleaners you used steel, soft bristle, chenille?
Hi! I have been working on this project and have begun soaking off the stabilizer….I was wondering if you had any trouble with the darker felt colors bleeding off into the white embroidery stitches? I purchased the kit like your from felt on the fly….I soaked the dark teal pieces and the deep cerise pink that had white stitches and it looks like the color may have bled in…….the pieces are still wet so maybe they may fade as they dry? Thanks for any help or suggestions….Blessings!
Thank you for sharing your beautiful work and all the good information! Did you pre-wash your felt before applying the sulky? I was wondering if you had any issue with shrinkage when you dissolved the sulky away. Thank you again. Your work is quite beautiful!
I didn't 'wash' per se, but I did run them under cold water until they were soaked through, then squeezed the water out between towels and let them air dry. I don't know if they did shrink at all, but I had no problems with shrinkage when rinsing off the stabilizer, so maybe they did a tiny bit. Either way, I wanted to be safe rather than sorry. ;)
I bought the pattern a long time ago beautiful work. I have some material but i need to buy the stick n stitch but how do i print all the embroidery patterns, i do everything on my cell don't have a computer. Thank you
Nell, you are a professional and I love these beautiful ornaments❣ The birds are great and so are the colors and folk art style! Do they come precut? Would you share how long approximately it took to make each one? (I realize they are all different.)
They don't come precut--I bought the felt and cut them out myself using the sticky patterns. It's very easy to do. I would say that, not counting drying time, the simpler ones take around 3-4 hours to make, and the more complicated ones are closer to 5-6 hours each. Very doable. :)
They are darling, what a beautiful keepsakes you've made. How kind that you will be making more with that in mind, I want to advise you that fray check isn't acid free. Ask me how I know.
Hi Nell! I so enjoyed this video. It was extremely informative and actually gave me that extra push I needed to make the investment. I have been considering these since I first saw them 2 years ago on In a Pickle Knitting podcast. I just was so hesitant to spend the money not knowing if I could make them or not. I have ordered the complete set of patterns and only a small amount of felt from FOTF. I want to try it out before buying the whole bundle. She has already shipped them to me! Did you buy the heads for the humans already painted or did by a bag of plain beads and paint them yourself?
I stumbled across your video while researching more inform on the 12 Days ornaments. I am gathering and ordering what I need and will watch your video again. Thank you for this amazing insight!
You are the ONLY video I’ve found to help with tips for the ornaments! Thank you so much it was kind of you to share and so helpful! Christine
Looking forward to you making a series of sew with me videos for the 12 days of Christmas.

I bought a bag of plain beads and did them myself. There were definitely a few that got thrown away, but I had lots to work with. ;)
Nell, I’m CRAZY for these ornaments! But, unfortunately this is way out of my price range, especially in 🇨🇦
I can imagine. I had to save up quite a while. Maybe some day!
