I grew up in Detroit during the Motown era and what a wonderful time it was. These kid’s really did this song justice and that’s coming from someone who saw it performed by the original Temptations.
I`m a silly old fool! 82 years of age and I`m sitting here with tears on my cheeks, remembering way back then. Oh man, I would Love to do it all again and perhaps be a bit kinder to some who cared for me. Happy days, and Thank you for these beautiful classics, so much appreciated.❤

Anyone still listening to this kind of music today in 2024 knows that this generation of music was the best there ever was and will be in life. And to prove it, look at today’s generation of people keeping our music alive. Why? Because there is nothing better out there than the 60’s, 70’s and 80’s.
The lead singer is so captivating. She has that rare silky voice, which is so authentic. She remained true to the song but added her personal touches. Keep singing young lady!
I think she also sang harmony vocals on the California Dreaming video if I'm not mistaken. Talented kids.

Every time I hear this song, I'm transported back to 1971, sitting in the Airman's Club (I was an Air Force E-3) at Udorn, Thailand. I can smell the cigarette smoke, the stale beer, and a couple hundred 19 and 20 year old young men sitting around after a 12 hour shift drinking 20 cent beer. Man, I miss those days!

I highly recommend the School of Rock version of Bohemian Rhapsody, it's an all different group but they absolutely knock it out of the ball park, the second group also does an excellent version of Cheap Trick's "I Want You to Want Me".

Yes, this Savanna (what a beautiful name) has one of the most distinctive voices of all the singers I've listened to in these School of Rock videos. It's also fun to see how expressive she is with her hands singing backup in the "California Dreaming" and "Cannonball" recording videos.
Her voice is so prefect even in "California dreaming" as a back up singer.. This back up singers here are a pleasure to listen to.

The School of Rock students generally stay true to the original song and I love it.
Joe Walsh has said that today's music is "spliced up" bits of performance stuck together with glue. He said the problem with music today is that no one is playing together... "no one is TESTIFYING to the music...." and it's up to the younger ones... they have to figure it out....

No, it would be strange if modern music hold that magic in the past..:-). No seriously: in that period of time there was also a lot of bad music. Its the human mind that connects the better music with favourite memories. Thats why those songs will always be requested and why younger people get recommended this music by parents etc. And if its really good it will stick, no matter how old it is and whatever the age of the young people.

I had no doubt these awesome musicians could do Motown as well. Fantastic melody. So good it makes my eyes watery.
Everyone's talking about how good the lead singer is and granted, she KILLED it. But what we don't talk about are the guitarists and the drummer. Do you know how hard it is to play something other than the melody while the singer is well, singing. And they also have to fight the want to belt out and show off. That something that I majorly respect. That's why I'm asking my mom to take me to SoR. It's so I can be the best of the best guitarists and singers Rock has ever seen.
Like many people, I heard 'Harvey' when Savanna sang in California Dreamin' and followed her here.
Bring back the classic guitar bands! They are real talents and musicians this generation needs!

It also draws interest among the younger folks to the older music.
The vocals is amazing,the band is amazing. Who needs any kind of chemical stimulance with the devastating consequenses when You have pure pleasure like this in your ear.
Putting a face to these well done covers makes it feel like a real concert. Watching Savanna and the others body swaying and facial expressions is key to adding to the experience. The voices, instruments and harmony are wow. Outstanding all.

There's something about recording old songs with modern recording techniques that I really like. And the singer's voice has that perfect amount of raspiness

I recently came across this school of rock thing and I may seem a little silly but is this a place where young musicians hone their skills? I will say these young folks sing like they're old souls! I remember when this song and many other Motown hits played on the radio. I also remember in the 5th grade in chorus we had a hippy music teacher who taught us folk and protest songs then we sang at a nursing home, needless to say we weren't well received based on our teachers political agenda. None the less I remember those songs fondly! I still love the music of Motown, and the greats like the Kingston trio, Peter Paul and Mary and Bob Dillon. It seams by my standards the days of singer songwriters is for the most part, long gone. This is great to see these young and very talented musicians make this song their own without trashing it!
As a 'musician for a living' for 25ish years....I feel compelled to say, ALL these School of Rock videos are simply STELLAR. The talent and dedication performed in all of the individual song renditions, are without denial among the most amazing displays of musicianship and collaborative precision on the internet IMO. Not even considering the fact that they're all recorded/presented expertly and the ages of the musicians performing at that level.

What I really love about those young people singing so well is...MOST OF US already know all the words to their songs too! Been singing them for years, and years and remember WHEN they first came out. Great sounds to all of you.

What I love about School of Rock other than how talented and amazing each of them are is they play the classics. I'm not knocking today's music at all, but all started somewhere. And that's with songs like this.

Wow that was incredible! I've always been a Temptations fan and I really like that song. The band is excellent and the lead singer is off the chain. I've wanted to hear a female lead to this and I'm very impressed. Thanks I really enjoyed that.
This is a great video. After all the positive comments below, I can't think of anything to add. These kids are excellent, and yes the singer's voice is scary good. So much better than the other music we hear today. I grew up in Detroit, MI and I am old enough to remember the Motown heyday. The Temptations should be proud of this.
I completely agree with you brother. I was born on the banks of the Detroit River, Wyandotte General Hospital, and Motown is ingrained in my soul. I'm white as hell and my coworkers look at me astonished when I play my music. It brings a tear to my eye to hear this passion from these young people singing this great music. 👍
