Fang Bo has never been this kind of top-top-level player. His ranking was even constantly lower than Lin Gauyuan and Liang Jingkun. Even though it's not contradictory to becoming the finalist of the world championship, just as other competitional sports.
Just imagine, Ma Long styling his hair like this again in 2024 Paris... Shivers down my spine.

This is an epic match. Both players are extremely good at forehand topspin. There are a few times that I have shouted “Wow!” 👍
The best match up in the history of table tennis ..... I watched it live that year, it was true entertainment.
yes it was an excellent battle but not the best, the 2006 Wang Liqin vs Ruy Seung Min battle was better.
por favor Ma Long resulto muy superior a ese jgador de segunda, Su nerviosismo en los sets que perdio lo traicionaron, pero siempre estuvo muy por delante.. Debio ser una final entre Xu Xin y Ma Long. Pero lamentablemente Xu XIn se lesiono en pleno partido de semifinales.
@@alfredoorigami269Fang Bo's forehand is world class. He also played this game after recovering from injury, beating Zhang Jike and Xu Xin in a row.And at the beginning everyone expected is Zhang Jike to MaLong, not Xu Xin, you do not understand the situation at that time

in retrospect it just feels like Ma LOng isn't necessarily the better player technique wise all those years.. but he's untouchable in consistency.
Basically he couldn't defend shit when pulled on the wide forehand and 95 percent of his shots went cross court.He's lucky Wang Hao retired.

I don't think he is or was underrated, but i do think he was forgotten because he was not as great as ma long, zhang jike and xu xin
Fang Bo definitely was one of the best players in history during that match. His forehand was one of the best if not the best in history. He had so much potential to become the successor to Ma Long. It's sad how he has gone downhill. What happened?

In tennis it's considered unsportsmanlike behavior to celebrate an opponent's mistake. Why is this not the case in table tennis?
I think because it is very hard to draw a line between points you win and points your opponent loses. Every time you can say that you put a hard spin, you chose a difficult angle, changed pace or something else. So your opponent's mistake happens because of your tactics, spin... And nobody celebrates a serve error
It is the same in Table Tennis. Because sometimes opponents error can be your tactics. Mental game and the spin variation is very strong in table tennis.
It is EVEN MORE so in table tennis. You will see people literally apologize every time they get lucky because of a net ball or edge ball. Regarding other unforced errors - in tt the line is much more blurry because of spin. It might look to you like someone missed a forehand but it might be because the ball was simply too "high quality" - depth on the table, spin direction and amount and speed. So that is NOT an unforced error.
Watch more tt, it’s simply the better game imho
In a normal match, it definitely would be considered unsportsmanship. But in a world championship final, well anyone can understand that.
