Very interesting stuff Jamie - This and the Lindholme Strip pond videos show us just how much work goes on behind the scenes into making these places the success they are. It certainly does not happen by accident
The main question i have about Barston is that given the amount of bait that goes into that lake the fish that have been there for years should have grown considerably, however the average size of fish that we catch there hasnt changed in 10 years. I accept that could be due to us as anglers, but carp are eating machines and the lake should theoretically be regularly doing much bigger fish than it is? Having said that its always good for a bite and confidence booster to test rigs etc.
@CatchFishingChannel it is mad tho that Barston as stocked 2x 35lb carp tho I know there's a few carp anglers fish it but it is mainly us match/course fishermen that fish it and as much as I'd love to catch um to that size it ain't no good if your gear ain't upto it
2012, Nigel stocked 2 carp, 30lb and 37lb (I was there) The 37lb carp was caught for the first time a couple of months later, by a pleasure angler, single piece of corn on a size 12, float fished in the margin. It weighed 32lb
Fishing in the UK is so much different than the United States. Carp is a trash fish here. We have so many species of Fresh water fish in thousands of fresh water lakes that are free to fish.
Not true , carp fishing is becoming more popular in the States now , I went about ten years ago and fished the St. Lawrence river for them , it was fantastic.
Why are they stocking 2 very large large carp in a mainly match venue are they making some sort of comp if 1 of them is caught? Been an angler who has done match fishing and carp fishing this makes no sence to me
For me, as a match fisherman, fish this size should go into a specimen lake not a match lake I would have rather have seen 10 x 7lb carp go in, but thats me, are match fisherman geared up for a 35lb fish, I don't think so.....👍🎣
The comment under the video on my feed is disparaging match anglers that carp like these shouldn't be in match venues. I see often the massive leads and hooks and tow rope strength braid often in venues where nothing bigger than a size 10 and no braid allowed, should I think all carp anglers are idiots?? No and most match fishermen take care of the carp they catch, especially the bigger ones which are often weighted and retained in nets which are alot bigger than retaining sacks that carp are left in overnight for a picture,we have enough problems in our sport from outside,we shouldn't be fighting with in the sport..rant over
You can’t say throwing carp in a keepnet for hours during a match is top fish care. It’s just added stress to fish I did match fish when I was younger but seeing beaten up carp in match lakes with no mouths made me turn to specimen fishing so I could catch beauties
@JCanEdit ok this can go on and on,99 percent of fish are transfered into keepnet in the landing nets, resulting in a lot less actual handling, net limits are imposed to prevent over crowding of keepnet, almost all tethered fish or birds are with either braid or 15lb lines.fish care is important in all aspects of angling.Mouth damage would be less if pleasure anglers used disgorgers properly, I feel sad when I see carp with mouth damage of course but when you wind in normal bream do you treat them as you do carp? I bet you don't put salve on their hook point or any sores they have on their bodies do you? But Angling has so many enemies it's stupid to fight ourselves from within.Match fishing is the biggest contributing arm of the sport in tackle trade, angling trust membership and Rod licence purchase so stop having issues with us and focus on the RSPB or the wildlife group that thought it was great to bring back otters that are destroying fish populations in canals and rivers, good luck on your next session tight lines
It wouldn’t be any fun at all hooking these fish on a pole! I caught a 24lb carp on a pole at my club lake. My elbow hurt me for six months. I never fished pole again on the lake. This is not a good idea, it’s rather foolish.
Such a shame for them poor fish as they're going to be mid 20s in the coming years 😢 they need to be in a carp fishery not a over stocked match venue 😮😡
Another fantastic insight into how fish stocking is so important, thanks Jamie 👍
Thanks Michael!
Absolutely craziness from a fishery owner 😮
I agree 35lb carp in a match lake fooking stupid
Amazing markings on that second carp, cheers Jamie for the upload.

I met jason once via a mitual friend. His fish farm is amazing. He built it from the ground up and its pristine. And his fish are quality
how long before they are in shard end lake?
Nice one Jamie, someone will be very happy catching one of those crocs, Thank you,
Great video again mate with a brilliant insight into fish transportation
Amazing video Jamie to see I’ve got to get over to Barston to give it a go in a match one day 👍
Nice video insight Jamie would be happy catching either 😂
There a face I ain’t seen in ages since Corley koi days and village golf coarse. Nigel never new you ran that place . Defo have to pay a visit
Stunning fish Jamie, thought if you caught one in a match would it be weighed and returned straight away.
Yes I would have thought so mate :)

Roughly how much is it to stock one of these beautys im guessing thousands
What to do if thay are caught in a match 🤔 In the keepnet or call to get it weighed an put back ???
I like fishing Barston but a 35lb carp on the pellet waggler is gonna be hard bloody graft 😂😂😂
Hahaha I bet!

from what I can remember the last time they had 2 30's or 40's stocked.. they came from a farm and dropped weight like nobody's business.
Oh right I'm not sure where the other fish came from unfortunately

Nigel runs a bloody good fishery up there .
So how much did they cost?
Would feel more proud catching a 1lb wild roach or a double figure pike out of Damflask or Umderbank.
Secret 7 Or Sticky Krill That Will Be The Question I Will Have Answered In A Few Days 🤞🤞🙏 If One Is A Twenty Or A Thirty I Will Be One Happy Angler.😊
They will drop weight maybe 4or 5 lb each one
Whats the stock of this lake
Bet woody catches em in first 2 casts
Not sure that stocking 2 fish of this size into that fishery is the right thing to do for the carp 🤔🤔🤔
Agreed - some of the people that Fish there won’t give them the Care and Respect that they deserve and they could get damaged.
Absolutely agree mate such a waste of 2 mid 30s 😢
What fishery is this
Barston
Always carp, what's wrong with normal fish. Banging out 200lb plus of carp is not my cup of tea but that's me. Well done mind.
Isn’t it not scary 2 fish could go 70lb in a match

Don’t put all big carp anglers in the same category
@@nickybayton8332 that's the point,I don't

those fish will be kept for hours in a keep net fish that size must be released after capture they dont fare well in keep nets
Personally I think there too big for a match lake and hope no one would try and put them in a keep net they deserve treating with respect

Brent fish
Wrong putting those fish in a noddy lake. Tiny mat and the bloke couldn’t even hold it properly
Who puts carp that size in a match lake what a joke 😂
Another 2 fish to be fucjed up by match anglers 😂
