Regardless, the Toon Army will make the journey to Manchester perhaps more confident than ever, as since defeat in this fixture in the Carabao Cup final last year, they’ve won each of the last three H2Hs without conceding a single goal - not since the turn of the 20th century have Newcastle won four consecutive meetings with Man Utd.
Players to watch: Potentially the sole bright spark in a dreadful season, Manchester United’s Kobbie Mainoo will be looking to avenge the defeat he suffered on just his second senior start in the reverse fixture. His last two goals came after half-time, just as Anthony Gordon’s goal did when Newcastle won this H2H in December.
Hot stat: Newcastle have scored 79 goals in the Premier League this season, their second-highest such total in competition history.
