It was also the automatic response of the Australian Prime Minister on his way to a thumping electoral defeat in May this year.
When one particular interviewer pointed at two facts about her budget, and she answered with "I don't accept the premise" - the interviewer then asked her why... and she ummed and arred in response. It was howlingly funny!
A few years ago the standard Government response was "The Government does not recognise those figures" used to lead to a lot of screaming at the radio.
Seems more like a get into jail fast card by now, though 😉

@Delta 1 You have no clue how happy and lucky we are to have left London behind just before things started to fall apart - it feels like for good. I cannot fathom us to return for decades, if ever.
Methinks Bavaria would gain by getting rid of the present Ministerpraesident Soeder 😁 (CSU, Bavarian local branch of to the centre right CDU), but I complain on a rather high level here.
Actually the CSU lost big time in recent elections after having been THE predominant party in Bavaria since 1945. Interestingly to their arch enemy - the Greens. Only proves in Bavaria voters both *can* and actually *do* fancy political change and express their dissatisfaction in elections. But then, we enjoy the advantages if PR here, both on federal and national level.
There were certainly some great subtle comedy plays in this script.

Although when it comes to elections, sometimes the electorate want a change to just punish the establishment.
It doesn't matter whether the "change" parties are extreme right or left or what their history is as long as it's a sock in the jaw to the establishment.
That's happening in a lot of countries right now like Italy and Sweden and others.
The voice inflections while answering the interview questions is incredibly realistic! I don't think I'd be able to tell it apart from the real Liv if I was just listening to it

That’s because it is Liz Truss..she is moonlighting as a comic..So that’s two jobs as a comic then.
Totally, I listened to a couple of radio interviews she did after coming out of hiding and the voices are almost the same.
It's easy; the real Liz Truss is less coherent.
As Angela Rayner put it, she broke her long painful silence with a series of short painful silences during those local radio interviews. If she's lucky she'll last till the end of the month. Liz is so bad, Liv you might be out of work soon.
I disagree, the hard-core Tories who voted for Struss, I mean Truss, lover her because she's doing exactly what she said she would do.
If you don't have a mortgage, and rely on interest from savings for your income, then you'll be overjoyed with interest rates going up. A 2 year bond now returns 4% annually, which on a £100k investment is considerably more than 6 months ago.
Our new Prime Minister doesn't mind being unpopular with the majority of the population because she's only interested in pandering to the extremely rich minority. She made this clear during her campaign to become the leader of the Conservative party.

@@johngurney8190 Your argument includes some compelling points, but I think there are a couple of details you may not be considering:
First, Truss remaining in her role doesn't rely on her remaining popular amongst the party members (Boris was still more popular amongst members than she or Sunak when they ditched him), it's her MPs that she has to keep happy now, and she's failing at that, because her actions are wildly unpopular with the wider electorate, and all but certain to lose a lot of Tory MPs their seats at the next election if she doesn't U-turn on them.
Second, even savers without mortgages are going to be worse off, because the drop in the value of the pound will completely wipe out any benefits they receive from her tax cuts. It's not even the top 1% that are benefiting from her policies, it's more like the top 0.1% or 0.01%.
Ultra-weathy Tory donors probably love her, but other than them, her policies won't actually benefit anyone. Tory party members may not yet see this in large numbers, but many of her MPs will, and they'll realise how unpopular it will make their party.
On the contrary, she could put herself up at the next bye-election!

Then, because of an election coming up, withdrew 2 Naval ships from the Falklands and halved the RM garrison, giving the Argentinians all the clues that Britain wasn't interested. Then she mounted the task force, took ALL our available reserves of infantry, artillery and helicopters, then taking off to reclaim the Falklands. That was achieved, at a cost she considered worthwhile, held a parade to celebrate the victory, (a parade that ALL INJURED TROOPS, SAiLORS AND AIRCREW were excluded from), and still the stupid ENGLISH voted her in again. She was as stupid as Truss and BoJoke, but because she spoke posh got away with more.
