I would like to see them add different levels of fishfinders. From a simple depth finder to maybe some form of livescope
This seems much more arcade--like than I was hoping for. We'll see when I play it for myself (weird that there's no pre-order yet or price announcement).

@@robertbutler5615 yup it's a game, but can still make it more realistic nevertheless, many fishing game out there so why not aim at being the best, saw many review and you can fish any spot and hook up diamond and gold all day, morning to end of day, so where are the mecanics they were saying there would be?

the yellow bar that pulses by is the timing for the different reel-in actions.....for example...reel in for one full pulse of the bar, when it gets to the end...stop reeling for one full pulse of the bar and repeat for 'stop and go' ...works the same for twitch and jigging
Hope they implement more bottom fishing into this game, love doing that in real life.
They NEED to make the player model holding the bass by the lip
100% agree. I've never seen anyone holding a largemouth bass like a loaf of bread.
@@davebaker1325 they are trying to be friendly to the fish. The world today is filled with little cry babies that don’t want to hurt FAKE animals
On smaller fish, the player character will lip the fish, but the larger ones are held with two hands. At the very least, EW should show the character lipping the bass and supporting the belly with the other hand. That would be the proper way to hold a bass.
Pike and walleye lipping would be out of the question. Those fish need two handed holding since they have gnarly teeth. There is plenty of room to improve the experience down the road and I am sure EW realizes this. CoTW:TH was pretty barebones when that was brand new so theAngler will initially be in the same boat (puns :P). This has a chance to turn into the best fishing simulator after some updates.

The irony with this is the fact that in The Hunter, you have to kill animals in order to get trophies, XP, and cash. I understand the whole ethical fishing and hunting thing, but this is a video game!
@@P.W.R. hopefully EW will let us make fish mount replicas since that's an ethical way to mount a fish you caught instead of taxidermy if theyre going the forced catch and release route
Game looks great 👍. I'm not into fishing games myself, so I'm probably gonna stick with COTW, but I'm sure that my fishing-addicted brother will be playing this at some point.

Have you ever seen someone reel in a lake trout holding the base of the rod with one hand? Yeah me either because people hold in front of the reel typically and have the butt of the rod in their hip for leverage
me? ive landed many trout over my lifetime holding the rod just like in the game.
holding the great white shark on his arms without even kneeling down :P and the golden trout is clearly oversized
this game is awesome I am so excited to get it. I love fishing in real life and it will be nice to fish on a game when I can't go fishing. the graphics look great 👍

I wonder if EW would ever consider support for Tobii eye tracker. It might make operations like twitching or jigging less jerky if you free hand it and don't use the button, but also, the camera can make things difficult while reeling in as well

The Devs need to separate the camera from the rod. The jigging and similar techniques make me motion sick to use. :(
It’s a setting. If you watch other TH-camrs you will see that you can make it look at the fish. I guess this creator doesn’t know how to do it.
I'd love to set up a camp and do some shore fishing right about now !

Graphically, the game looks great. Mechanically, it looks a little too arcade like for a “fishing sim”. You can’t keep fish, which is nuts. And there’s not even an animation for pulling a fish out of the water. And no trophy lodge. I was excited for this game, but after watching gameplay I’m just gonna wait for updates to see if they can actually make the game stand out from other games like Fishing Planet.
The only thing you've ever caught a catfish on is hot dog? Never done that personally but try a whole box of regular corn flakes, a can of spinach and mix it all up. Put it in the fridge in a bowl over night cover with press wrap and go fishing next day. Roll into balls and put on a hook.
For catfish which is what I think he was specifically talking about I like to buy chicken liver then leave it sitting in the sun till it rots good.
I feel like final fantasy 15 had a better fishing mini game than this lol.
should do UK map with carp pike cats and put all the UK style fishing games to shame...CotwTH is beast. glad these are working on a fishing game, and they release new maps so fast for TH :D

Vertical jigging for crappie with a super light set up is really fun on this game, I fish for crappie like that in real life so it’s cool to see a fishing game put that in.
We need "Pulling out of water animation" just like in Russian fishing 4, not just black screen :/
I wish this was a DLC for the Hunter COTW…imagine how sick that would be? Maybe one day…
I hope they eventually add deer and waterfoul maybe, not stuff we can hunt but animals that would just kinda be on the waters edge to give some more life
To be fair, it's looks like a tacked on DLC rather than it's own game lol. Literally looks like a fishing mini game. So bad.

What's funny is, EW put out a survey not too long ago and a few of the questions had fishing related DLC stuff in there. First thing that came to my mind was a fishing addon, which I thought was a cool idea. I expressed my interest in the responses for a fishing DLC for Call of the Wild. As much as EW asked about fishing in the survey, it seemed like they were serious based on the questions.
So not only were they serious, they made an entire new game. If I am being objective, a fishing DLC seems out of the scope of Call of the Wild: theHunter so I can see why it was just made it into its own full game. On the plus side, this allows EW to expand the "Call of the Wild" line of simulator games now. They could create a whole series of outdoor sports games.
Any tip on how to do the jiggling motion properly? im having a hard time trying to keep it consistent, i always interrupt the movement or switch to twitching.

I think there is too much fish to catch and the reeling doesn't feel right. I mean that when the character reels 200+ meters the lure actually moves just 10 meters (the animation is just too fast) Still excited to try the game, I just hope they assess these problems.

It's literally a cast and reel game. There is no fish off mechanic when you don't put the rod down when they jump(there should be). It is OK for a little while, and then you realize that nothing about the game takes any real skills. You simply get the right setup.. cast out and reel in. The legendaries can be kinda difficult, but even then... they have like 6 total right now... 3/5 Stars.
Going to be honest, Russian fishing 4 is THE best fishing game in every single way....except the greedy and tyrannical devs.. I had so much hope for this game but it looks bare....where's the excitement? At least in COTW you can spot rares and great ones ect... this looks like 20hrs I'd rather watch paint dry.

This game looks sweet I get why ppl hate on it but to me the things they dislike are not as important would love for you to keep up this content even if it’s just once a week or something like classic

Curious if there is some sort of trolling system in the game? My family and I do a lot of trolling in the summer for walleye and pike, and think it would be cool to be able to set up rods on your boat and troll through the lakes!
I can't believe nobody answered your question yet amigo, there is no trolling in the game whatsoever. It is an arcade game friend, just like all the other crap that's been put out in the last 10 years, there hasn't been a truly good realistic fishing sim since Sierra's Trophy Bass 3 from 20+ years ago, sadly.

In real life the trout would have cut the line. That size and deep needs a lot of reel brake playing.

The only thing for me is how much the rod bends if a rod could bend that much it would snap. But I feel this could be easily fixed.

Sure, a good rod will bend without snapping, but there were times in this video that it was looking beyond what a rod could handle in real life. One fish Flinter was bringing in looked like the rod tip looped back into itself which is something you don't want to do. EW didn't animate the different power/action correctly anyway. I saw some other videos with people using the ultra-light/fast action rods and they bend the same as the heavy/slow ones do. They all arc down to the grip and this just doesn't look right on the ultra-light/fast rods.
The rod bends mostly near the tip with a ultra-light/fast. Also, I think it would be cool if you can catch fish without needing the "recommended" line weight and rod to bring in large fish. People have been catching large (chose your favorite gamefish) on 7-8ft ultra-light rods for decades, and using light line like 6-8lb line to boot! Its totally possible and I wish EW would have more closely modelled this in the game. I think this would bring more nuance to the finesse fishing without it boiling down to "get big rod and heavy line, now catch big fish."
And they could award more XP or a better trophy for landing fish on lighter gear. This would be much more compelling and fun! And of course the heavy gear would still have purpose since you would not be able to land a 40lb channel cat with a trout/bass rod.
Maybe this will be changed in due time and improved later on. There is so much potential here and I hope EW seizes the opportunity to go crazy with this like they did for theHunter.

Here in Ontario I've caught catfish on liver, dog food, corn, and just a ball of worms flat on the bottom. Good trick we use when camping is have your rod tied to a tree and drag fairly loose so the fish can pull out line. If you have a clicker on your reel or bells you can attach, put them on. Then just sit around the campfire and wait

tbh, I love the idea of this game but they executed it horribly. I know this sounds bad, but I kinda want the game to gets a ton of bad reviews (which it will) so they can fix this game.
They are already making changes and listening to the community. I bet there will be a fairly large day 1 patch

This game should have just been added to call of the wild as a dlc. There's just not enough to do and the excitement is lacking big time. Consider this a fail.

Why are so many people angry and disappointed at a game that is release for the first time and is going to get reworks and new stuff down the line...? I am in love with the game :)
While beautiful, it seems to lack a lot of the standard mechanics that people who play fishing games expect in terms of the rod physics, fish behavior,etc. Even bad fishing games like Ultimate Fishing Simulator 1 and Fishing Sim World are better, never mind more serious games like Fishing Planet and Russian Fishing 4. It looks like it’s on the level of mobile fishing games in terms of mechanics. Hunters will probably like it, but I don’t see anyone in the fishing game community saying much good about it. Hopefully that changes, but I suspect that’s going to take some time.

My only personal complaint and wish is that I would not not like to see the fish. The animations do not look very realistic for one and for two I wish it was like fishing planet where I know If it’s a big fish by how it fights and feels and what it does to my drag and rod and reel. I would rather not see the fish.

So disappointed. Had high hopes for this game and it looks absolutely sh*t house. No realisim, completely arcade like...it was a toss up between this and ultimate fishing sim2. Given it doesn't look so realistic either but it has better features and game play.. my minds made up. UFS2 it is.
Water looks shit.. holds the rod like a toddler.. fish all look the same (only size changes).. tropyshot look shit too.. you can clearly see that the developers have no clue about actual fishing.. people screamed fishing, and they just made this crap to silence them..

Tbh this feels more like classic than cotw. The animations are nice but the world feels off. It doesn’t feel like EW made it. Also the fact is fades to black when pulling it up is horse shit. Rdr2, Farcry, and other games don’t do that and feel better. Also the hud style is garbage; I hate it. Again it doesn’t feel like EW made it. Hopefully it’s like this because it’s early access but it does release in a few days. If this what the final game is going to look like it better be 10-15 USD. If it’s more priced like Cotw I doubt I’ll ever get this or at least until they make big changes. I really hope it ends up more like it’s the Hunter counter part. I thought this was going to be this first genuinely good fishing game but until proven other wise this is going to be a financial flop for EW
