Mainly to spread awareness of these great films and hopefully inspire more people to seek them out.
Director - Andrzej Zulawski
Synopsis - A team of astronauts land on an inhabitable planet and form a society. Many years later, a single astronaut is sent to the planet and becomes a messiah.
On The Silver Globe is one of the most extraordinary WHAT IF's in film history. In case you don't know the backstory, Zulawski's sci-fi opus was actually shot in the 70's and famously shut down by the Polish government before it could be completed. The story surrounding the production is fascinating, very much worth a deep dive and also the subject of a recent documentary "Escape To The Silver Globe".
I like to think that in a better world, Zulawski's film would have been the biggest thing ever - the sci-fi blockbuster that captured the world's imagination, predating the likes of Star Wars, Dune, and all the rest. Instead it's a rather unfortunate forgotten footnote of film history, but the footage that remains is truly something to marvel at -- DM
