Many commenters are mistaking these hats as 'cowboy' hats. In fact they are oilskin 'stockman" hats popular in Australia and New Zealand. I have one I wear to garden. Cowboy hats are made of felt or straw and are a blocked hat in general. Hats off to you gents!

In the uk they are sold as cowboy hats and American westerns show these hats as being worn by the cowboys
