      Actually, it's a reference to how in a lot of comment sections and twitter feeds of famous musicians, "Come to brazil!" was put a lot by brazilians. So eventually the meme of "You're going to brazil. we aren't asking anymore." came up. you should check out Lessons in Meme History's video about it. The hole you're referring to is a hole IN brazil, not a hole TO brazil.

  • @sumvs5992
    @sumvs5992 2 ปีที่แล้ว +237

    The minigun is absolutely supressable, if you modify the muzzles to fit a suppressor. The minigun has a pretty ingenious design where it's like a normal gun, just with six bolts (and six barrels), and those six bolts ride around in a track that forces them in and out of battery depending on where there are at one time. (Looking from the back) Top left area is feeding, top and top right is firing, and the bottom is coming out of battery and ejecting. So it's not like a revolver, more like 6 machine guns taped together and all firing one after another.

    • @TheArkTheArkTheArk
      @TheArkTheArkTheArk 2 ปีที่แล้ว +67

      Yeah but suppressors do have limits to their durability. You try and fire off a fully suppressed mini gun and those suppressors would start melting and breaking in less than 30 seconds.
      Actually, wait that sounds fucking awesome and now I wanna watch someone do that.

    • @Nightamose
      @Nightamose 2 ปีที่แล้ว +29

      To be fair, the minigun with 6 suppressors would wear each one at 1/6th the speed, and most of the time, they wouldn't be firing bursts of longer than a few seconds.

    • @zacharymorris4504
      @zacharymorris4504 2 ปีที่แล้ว +20

      I think the real issue with suppressing a minigun is the noise the mechanism makes aside from the actual cartridges firing. You'd be surprised how loud the actions of firearms are, even more so when it's being spun around a track by an electric motor at a stupid speed. Also, the de-linker makes quite alot of noise as well.

    • @mobiuscoreindustries
      @mobiuscoreindustries 2 ปีที่แล้ว +22

      @@zacharymorris4504 along the list i can think about:
      - electric motor spinning the thing
      - de-linker clanking metal on metal at stupid speeds
      - the mountain of brass and links being ejected out the side faster than a politician can evade taxes.
      - the stream of bullets breaking the sound barrier

    • @Nightamose
      @Nightamose 2 ปีที่แล้ว +10

      Also the fact it's probably mounted to an aircraft or helicopter or a ground vehicle attached to a convoy, which either kick up a lot of dust, are visible in the air, or are loud (or all of the above).
      It's a funny idea but obviously very impractical.
      Maybe someone with a lot of money and a lot of suppressors could try it on a replica crank Gatling Gun.

    Great bullet analogy, but you forget that larger bullets can handle higher velocities without breaking up mid flight, which is why people aren't trying to snipe with a .22. All calibers have their place and reason for existing, and I'd trust a .45 to break that plate in the carrier much easier than a 9mm.

    • @hedgeearthridge6807
      @hedgeearthridge6807 2 ปีที่แล้ว +5

      Still doesn't make sense, it's kinetic energy that does all the work. Literally, when you use the physics definition of Work. Doubling velocity quadruples energy while doubling mass only doubles energy. Lighter faster 9mm is infact better once again than slow heavy .45acp ESPECIALLY for armor piercing. And breaking apart midflight? .243Win is a bullet only a little bigger than a 5.56 that goes well over Mach 3, there's no issue with such a thing

  • @toasterofdoom9629

    Battle cries very much so were a thing, often religious ones or ones intended to frighten the enemy, because back then, battles were mainly about whose morale broke first rather than who could kill all hostiles in sight. Also, there have been cases of battle cries in more modern history, like the Imperial Japanese, although that falls into the "religious battle cry" category.

    The minigun mechanically functions like 6 bolt-action rifles not revolvers, but that's not why you can't suppress it. The rate if fire would cause too much gas buildup in the baffles of the suppressor and either not actually suppress the shots or more likely just break.

    You don't necessarily *need* subsonic ammo for a suppressor to work well. The primary uses of a suppressor are hearing protection and signature reduction. They may hear the supersonic crack of a bullet flying over their head, but it's gonna be a lot harder to figure out where it came from if you completely muffle the sound of the gunshot.
    Granted, even if you could suppress a minigun, there'd be basically no reason to. Signature reduction and hearing protection don't matter too much when you're 1. mounted to a vehicle and 2. probably have doubled up earplugs and electronic hearing protection on.

    • @dylanhaugen3739

    1:10
    I said it before, I'll say it again.
    *Temporary cavity*
    The hole size is irrelevant, yes.
    HOWEVER, when a bullet hits a target, especially a soft, fleshy target, the force of the impact ripples in a much larger area around the trajectory of the bullet.
    This results in the flesh tearing, a large hole forming, and then all of it "dissappearing" due to your body's natural elasticity closing it again.
    However, all the veins and arteries in that area, are now shredded.
    Organs that were completely missed by the bullet, are still damaged.
    VISIBLY, there's the same hole as would be left by a 9mm.
    A faster projectile PENETRATES BETTER.
    PENETRATION does not equal DAMAGE.
    Just to put it in perspective:
    Would you rather be stabbed with a syringe or a ball point pen?
    The syringe PENETRATES better, easily getting in your skin and through your tissue.
    But the hole is so small, and the damage so non-existent, that you can just hold it closed with one finger and call it a day.
    But the ball point pen is so thick and bulky, that it just leaves a bigger hole, and tear apart a lot more skin and flesh.

    • @FriendOxygen625
      @FriendOxygen625 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      The difference is a tenth of an inch, not the difference between a needle and a pen. Besides that, the kinetic energy out of any handgun round is small enough that the difference means nothing, and numerous tests have shown that shot placement is several times more valuable when it comes to handguns.

    .45 is going to cause more damage than a 9mm, period, so even if it isn't lethal, ESPECIALLY if it isn't lethal, it is still going to take your target out of the fight for a VERY long time. Source: Have been shot by .45 ACP hollow point. Recovery is hell man.

    4:24 yes, you can suppress a minigun, as the action is sealed with a cammed bolt, and the cycle is driven by use of an electric motor and other cams on the individual bcgs and strikers. it does not operate like a revolver, which has one barrel and which has a necessary gap between the front face of the cylinder and the breech.

    I had the distinct pleasure of sitting on my ass in holding barracks before starting Navy boot as they were building a company with no ASVAB score below 97. We somehow managed to finish boot not only without losing anyone to being held back (including our guy who broke his leg), but we ended up snagging a few from a week or two ahead of us so we finished larger than we started. It was an interesting 8 weeks in a Chicago winter.

    It didn't need a licence...

    Yes, there are suppressible revolvers... pretty sure rotary canon or Gatling or wtvr can be suppressed as it basically just relies on a motor or crank to function... the suppressors would need to be changed often or they would have to fired very little or very slowly to allow it to cool and such. Maybe more useful in cold temperatures.

    If they were real i think "Oui" could be an awesome battle cry

  • @The_Industry
    @The_Industry 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    Historically speaking, at least in open field combat in the Medieval Period, battlecries were almost certainly employed when charging into enemy lines to ensure that the resolve of less trained troops held, or as an intimidation tactic for the enemy forces. The idea of a battlecry is only useful when both sides know where each other's forces are and need to enter melee combat. It's is a morale boost and a scare tactic, that works well in premodern armies, but stops working the moment you can reliably eliminate enemy troops without entering melee.
    Although with regards to the "oui" battlecry, where they existed historically they would almost certainly have been a simple yell rather than a word or phrase. A yell sounds more primal, functioning better as a scare tactic, and the morale boost comes from shutting your rational brain off to an extent and flooding your system with adrenaline, something you can't do if focusing on what you're shouting.

    I don't agree with the 'need' to be tazed to carry a tazer. I went to security training back in Oklahoma, it was led by a retired cop. He was like, "Some classes require you to be hit by a tazer or pepper-spray so you know how it feels. We don't do that here, because we also train you have to shoot people."

    French paras and the foreign legion didn't actually lose in Algeria, they crushed the rebellion, then president DeGaulle put it to a referendum to the French people, whether Algeria would stay as a French region or have independence. The independence vote won out, so Algeria went free anyway. This pissed off a lot of the army that gave a lot of sweat and blood to win the fight. A part of the foreign legion even mutinied which is why nowadays it's an integrated part of the French army whereas before it was an independent branch.
    Dien bien phu was pretty rough, they didn't guess that some of the Viet supply lines was literally just dudes on bicycles. Perhaps they shoulda been more cautious, they underestimated their opponents' craftiness.
    Anyway thanks for the video man.

    4:15 “revolver can not be suppressed” well yes but actually no.
    There is no reason to suppress a revolver, BUT it can be done. A traditional revolver can not effectively be suppressed, but if the design is similar to for example the Nagant revolver it can be suppressed. The Nagant revolver had a mechanism that would seal the chamber which opened a possibility for effective suppression.

During WW1, They would equip their Snipers with angled scopes to survey The Top without poking their soft and fragile skull to The Trench Surface. They also tried to make angled weapon barrels too. One that has a 45° Curve that is used for Corner Firing and a Prototype that is used in The Same Trench Warfare for The Snipers.

    Yeah the FBI actually did a study comparing 9mm and .45acp, it's a really good read. Turns out doctors in ER, OR, Morgue, etc cannot tell the difference between wounds from 9mm and .45. They're basically identical. Makes sense, the bullets are only ~0.1 inches or ~2mm different in width, there's no reason there should be a big difference. Plus, most .45 rounds are too slow to expand hollow points, even in perfect mediums like water. And because KE=0.5mv^2 and p=mv, higher velocity and lower weight give exponentially more kinetic energy with lower recoil (momentum). So .45 gives equal wounding effect, with unreliable hollowpoint expansion, higher recoil, lower energy, lower mag capacities, higher weight, higher cost, etc etc. It's worse in every way than 9mm. If you shoot well with it, use it! But don't be a fanboi that refuses to believe it has any flaws.

    • @hedgeearthridge6807
      @hedgeearthridge6807 2 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Note: .45acp still has a practical use today: subsonic rounds for use with suppressors. Subsonic 9mm sucks; it doesn't cycle properly in most guns and it has less energy than .45 because of having the same velocity but lower weight. .45acp is naturally subsonic so the gun will just function as usual, and .45 is MUCH cheaper than something like .300 Blackout.

    Suppressors are used on large caliber rifles alot to because they make good flash hiders and also somewhat reduce the effective range of being heard for example purposes let's say 6.5 grendal can be heard clearly at a distance of 1000 yards because of the high decibel sound emissions and a properly built suppressors not only conceals the flash more but reduces the decibels by a 20-30-40 ish so it only rings out clearly 800 700 yards and at 11-1200 it nearly incomprehensible for a long range marksman/designated sniper round like that it might be optimal to opt for suppression over just the flash guard for long range take downs or recon also kinda same idea with a revolver its just less practical because of the use case of the revolver alot of the gas ect still travels the barrel and with be suppressed but because its not perfect it will not be subsonic just lowered a bit and because of the effective range you'd expect to use your side arm it's intended purpose is defunct but it might be a nice option at a range tbh just to be quieter than normal kinda like suppressing a .308 at the range not to make it completely silent but to lower the general volume also shout out to the like 3 fully sealed revolvers that came suppressed in because the russians said hold my vodka in the late 1800's and a couple companies tried to modernize that design
