    We never have started with a plant complete with roots for our aquarium. We take clippings from our potted CJ (Lowes) and place into the aquarium. The clippings will grow and take root. We have floated the clippings as well as attached them at the very bottom of the tank. The clippings sprout new leaves grow roots and new limbs before they ever break the surface of the tank. They seldom drop the original leaves either. The new growth is usually has smaller leaves. This under LED lights in a 50 gallon Aquarium. Fish make the fertilizer. Easiest aquarium plant I know of. Get tired of them in your aquarium then plant them back in soil. If this stuff needs air it can hold its breath longer anything on this planet. I have pieces completely submerged for at least 4 month now. This stuff is amazing!

      @@supabiscuit I was able to grow creeping Jenny in a hang on back filter.
      I made a few videos showing the creeping Jenny in the hang on back.
      I washed all of the dirt {gently} from the roots, than I placed it in the hob.
      It did well for a few months.
      But than I had to clean the filter and the Creeping Jenny went into shock and she didn't bounce back.
      You can see how well it was doing on my video's

    Is there any recorded evidence or documentation about them melting away eventually? Thanks

    I am making a small container pond for frogs......I have both creeping Jenny and papyrus both in small starter pots like yours are in. How do I plant the creeping Jenny in the small container pond? Do I leave them in their small starter pots? Do I take them out? I have no idea what I’m doing, but the creeping Jenny is quickly outgrowing the starter pot that it’s in 😂 and how deep can the Jenny be submerged!

      Thank you for your questions! Jenny can be submerged completely or partially, depending on your preference. If completely submerged, it will slowly grow to the top (although it may not survive indefinitely like this). If it has outgrown its pot, I'd recommend simply putting it in a bigger pot with some rocks in the bottom to help it sink. If you have dirt in the bottom of your pond you could plant directly and add rocks over top to hold it down.

    From your experience. Do they survive indoors with only led light? No sunlight. Hornwort do well with only led light. Water hyacinth only do well in sunlight.

      We have used Creeping Jenny indoors many times over the years - it does well. Just keep in mind that this plant works as a bog plant, and may melt without exposure to air.

    I'm planning to put some in my pond but I'm going to reply with aquatic soil. The soil that they came in may have fertiliser which will leach into the water

      @SirensAquatics  5 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Yes, that's a good point. It's safe to use the potting soils that don't have additives, as well as clay substitutes. But, the aquatic soil will be really beneficial, though! I hope you see great results.

    Will these survive in a aquarium if only the roots are submerged the water, without soil? Thinking about combining these with my Pothos plants which are doing well in my 65G.

      Yes. They will thrive in the aquarium given the number of nutrients and waste in the water column. I have a heavily planted tank with co2 injections with this plant rooted in my substrate and a small bundle with my Pothos sitting in my filter. It has been my experience that Creeping Jenny (a member of the primrose family like the more common bacopa monnieri) will adapt just nicely. I hope my two cents helped.

      I have one in my fishtank... It is going crazy, roots are everywhere. About 30% of the plant is in the water and new growth has been constant.
      My Guppies and African dwarfs love it@@indigenoussoul1038
