  • In this episode of Lauren of All Trades... Lauren tries out using the Weehawken Ferry as an option for getting to her cruise from Manhattan!
    I definitely recommend this option if you're able to walk 1/2 a mile with your luggage and I still recommend it even if you'll need to call an uber for the trip from where you get off the ferry to where the cruise board.

    This is exactly what we are thinking for this Saturday for our Venezia cruise! We are looking for ways save money and not spend $45 a night at the terminal. 😂 Thanks, Lauren!

      Awesome! I love to hear when my videos are helpful. I did find out that the ferry cost has gone up but I don't think the parking price has changed.

    How much to park for 7 days

    • @laurenofalltrades
      @laurenofalltrades  3 หลายเดือนก่อน

      One of the parking decks is $22/day, the other is $20/day. If you're going on a 7-day cruise, that's 8 days of parking.

    We are traveling in February. If there is a lot of snow is this still an option or do they close down for bad weather?

      I haven't tried it in the winter, but I can't imagine they would shut it down for snow. The have the interior are which I think is heated. The ferry is primarily for people communing into NYC, it's not just for cruisers, so I expect it would be running.
      You can email them to make sure www.nywaterway.com/Contact.aspx
      I emailed a question and they got back to me pretty quickly.

    Hello Lauren - thanks for sharing. I have been researching this option for getting to Manhattan Cruise Terminal. How was the experience with the parking garage? Any issues? Do you pay after you return? Just wondering about that process. Thanks again.

      Parking was super easy! We paid on the out. If you’re paying with a card you can do it from your car at the gate. There are pay stations if you’re going to pay with cash.
      Leave your ticket in your car to make sure you don’t lose it lol.
      And the garage felt safe. I wasn’t worried about my car at all.

      Were there enough available parking spaces in the parking garages in Weehawken? I’m on the fence about the Manhattan cruise terminal or taking the ferry over. We would plan on taking an Uber from 39th St. to the Manhattan cruise terminal just in case of weather issues.

      @@soulprovider915 There were plenty of spaces when we parked there - we even found a space on the ground floor. There is also the second garage even closer to the ferry, which is slightly more expensive but still affordable ($2 more per day I believe).

      @@laurenofalltrades OK thank you! That’s encouraging! Looks like an UberX is about $28 each way from 39th St. to the cruise terminal so I’d still be saving over 100 bucks. after having lived in the New York City area for 15 years, the unpredictable traffic never sits well with me.

      @@soulprovider915 I didn’t try this out as of yet, lol still don’t know what option to do, just looking into it, didn’t even book yet.

    Thanks for the stream. At the end of the cruise, what's the best way to get to LGA ? Thanks

    • @laurenofalltrades
      @laurenofalltrades  5 หลายเดือนก่อน

      I haven't had to get to LGA after a cruise so I can't help with this one. I get in a car and drive back to PA. Thanks for watching!

    Thank you so much for sharing this information, much easier than driving in from Jersey to NY.

      I thought it would be helpful to actually show what it's like. I was doubtful myself of if it's easy or not until I tried it myself!
