honestly, they should bring this concept back
I love the creativity of GI's elemental reaction system, it's not very complex but it is hella satisfying, I'm especially partial to bloom.
I do however feel like I'm going to prefer WW's combat in general since it has more of things i like such as parrying, perfect dodges and a seemingly faster paced combat, though i do wonder if the concerto effect and summons will be enough incentive to swap characters often.
Genshin's elemental system is simple at the surface but it is actually very complex with the elemental gauge and aura etc...

I don't think this will kill Genshin since GI is more about the lore and character gacha plus the simple combat in GI will keep the toddlers busy for years
But the people who enjoy anime and also want fluid and challenging combat will move over to this game if it releases well that's pretty much expected

Unfortunately genshin is already dead, so it was just a matter of releasing a better game like this.
Well if Mihoyo won't start working heavily on the improvement of the game only. If they won't do anything atm then they'll gonna lose all players/potential spenders by the release of WW.

Tbh I think what some people are forgetting how F2P friendly Genshin's elemental system is.
By making reactions like 50% of the character's power level, Mihoyo has been able to keep powercreep pretty tame. E.g. Childe is a character released in 1.1 and his international team variation is still the most popular for clearing abyss 2-3 years later. Why? Well he's a water character that happens to make a fire character work really well...
In another case, reactions save some characters e.g. Kuki Shinobu. An electro healer that does some AoE damage, she was considered useless upon release. Now with dendro reactions, she's pretty much the most comfy character for hyperbloom, arguably one of the most F2P friendly teams with low investments.
So because of elemental reactions, powercreep rarely happens in Genshin. In fact, more people complain about reverse powercreep, where newer characters are considered weaker.
Now with WW though, I'm not very familiar with the game's sound resonance system, but if it's a generic system where you do more damage against certain enemy type then I'd be more concerned about powercreep. Having a system with no depth and purely reliant on a character's scaling is just prone to powercreep in gacha games. I mean, look at ToF which people were also hyped about, and see how much powercreep it's gotten over the years.
I'll still play WW though. I enjoyed PGR's combat but quit like 2 weeks in because the early game was boring and story unengaging. Hope it'll be different for WW

I don't it , you're not even showing the right thing. The "Sound Resonance" is basically the "Quick Time Event" from Honkai Impact 3rd or Punishing Gray Raven. Which is a mechanic that triggers a special switch-in that unleashes a strong attack when a certain criteria is met (example at 0:29 ). Both clips were poor representation of the effect/mechanics from both games. what you showed was random usages of abilities in Genshin Impact and who knows what the heck reactions/effects they did. While the Wuthering Wave clip shows a guy using his ultimate ability, smh.
I just hope WW doesnt go the heavy powercreep route, because i want to play and collect all the hot dudes in that game too and i can get away with it easily in genshin, i hope ww will let me too

The thing is Kuro relies more on mechanics and gameplay, they put a lot of effort in it unlike Mihoyo. Mihoyo has their favorite kids which are Zenless Zone Zero and Honkai Impact 3rd, they have better gameplay and better characters.

Elementa reactions are boring as hell, they can be fun for the first days or so of gameplay but after that it just gets stale since there is no variation, its always use character A skill, cause elemental dmg, switch to character B, cause elemental reaction and repeat the same process until the enemies are dead. Plus what makes a combat fun is having both playable and npcs good, genshin enemies barely move during a fight and most of the time they will just stand still taking dmg, which just makes the combat even more boring than what it is. Different from wuthering waves more fast paced combat which your enemies actually try to kill you and the better vfx and sfx it has compared to Genshin

I recommend everyone watch Pulao vs MC Solar boss fight from PGR, just to get a taste for the range of combat Kuro Games is capable of.
If genshin doesn't change as all these new free good looking anime games come out like blue protocol and Ww, then it will probably die due to players just moving to other games. It's crazy to say this but even casuals like a challenge once in a while.
Look a legend of Zelda breath of the wild for example. It has many ways to make the game hardcore but it also has many ways to make the game easy. And genshin only has things to make the game easy which wouldn't be much of a problem if they had fun content, which they don't outside of more recent archon quests and a few other stuff.
Games need to change if they want to continue to have a player base. Look at Fortnite for example. You can even use breath of the wild to tears of the kingdom as an example since they changed all the old mechanics and replaced them with new mechanics.
Just because genshin has a large amount of popularity doesn't mean it won't ever die. If genshin never changes then there will be a big migration from genshin to literally any other game. And since there hasn't been a good, fun anime style game that is free yet we weren't able to see any migration as of now. But once these games release genshin is sure to lose players if there isn't anything new to do in the game.

So im a genshin player and a lot of commenters say that WW focuses on mechanics rather than genshin's elemental reaction. Now as a casual player myself, genshin's reactions in itself are pretty complex and diverse (you cant say that catalyze and electro conduct or bloom and freeze are similar or gives the same effects) so can anyone actually give me a constructive explenation of how ww mechanics are more complex than genshin's elemental reaction?

I wonder how many games do y'all need to to screw over before y'all stop inviting direct competition between new games and genshin. As someone who loves genshin and is excited for wuthering Waves I'd rather not have the success of this game be stifled because people invited these types of comparisons like people did with tof. Fortunately I didn't care about tof and the devs were responsible for a lot of those comparisons but I actually want wuthering Waves to do good.

@@amari7782 I didn't say the devs were doing anything wrong, they seem pretty chill and so far are making pretty good decisions. My issues are with people like the 2 who commented here who are basically shoehorning the game into the "genshin killer/competitor" narrative. I think the games can rightfully be compared but stuff like that reaches a level of overhype for a game that isn't even close to release yet. Comparisons like that can do good for initial hype but once actual flaws start to reveal themselves (which is going to happen because no game is perfect) or if certain expectations aren't meant then it could end up being detrimental. Then once the comparisons start hurting the game it'll just be used to push a "genshin players are toxic" narrative. I'm much more confident in a game like wuthering Waves than one like tof since it still looks really good and kuro has a good reputation but I also dont want it to be in the shadow of another game.

There's dodge matrix, parry, counter, air combos, air juggles, resonance system which is unique for each character, quick swap assist combos, off-environment attacks, that's at least what we've seen

Its just elemental reactions. The green dude is a wind character, upon switching to rover (light element) it will create a bubble that has slow mo effect and increase elemental damage (this is wind + light reaction only, other elements have different reactions respectively of course). What the person above me said is echo system btw, they r 2 different things.
Let me rephrase someone talking about concerto in WW.
"Concerto is wuthering waves version of elemental reaction using QTE system. And it goes like this element's order priority:
-Dark shreds correspondent element's res by 30% for 10 seconds while dealing dark and other elemental attacks.
-light shreds correspondent element's res (except dark) by 40% and creates a time bubble (like PGR matrix) for 3 seconds.
-winds CCs when interacting with fire, ice, and lighting will inflict burning, freezing or double lighting attack according to which elements interacted with wind overtime for 5 seconds.
-lightning amplified both itself and other elements when interacting with either fire or ice.
-fire and ice deal massive explosion when interacting each others.
-there are no concerto effects with same elements.
This is subject to change because it's still in beta."

When genshin initially released, they were getting views in the millions even til this day, withering is not getting that much attention. Why is that if its combat looks so much. Why aren't people more "MOTIVATED" for Ww?
