@jsog1 letting a little bit of water soak in the head expands it. I like to put just as much as I can hold in my one hand and sprinkle it on the head, then let it sit for a day or overnight, then there's a better bass tone. The microphone could also be hurting the bass sound though
I feel ya man, just bang on everything all the time and do it in a way where you are counting when you do it. The idea is to program your fingers n hands to remember the rolls automatically. Trust me look it up give it time
You seem to be playing most of your Doums and Teks with your hand at an angle from your arm, IMO this puts undue stress on your wrist as it is in a position that doesen't allow the joint the natural support it would have in a straight line. 9 o'clock is if you are sitting with your drum and if you are playing Tek with the left hand it is usually at 12 o'clock, so if you are right handed then play the Teks and Doums at 9, straightening out the hand so it is more in line with the arm.
Very good, howeverI think you are going to get arthritis or worse if you don't get that right hand more towards 9 o'clock to hit teks with, and straighten out that hand and wrist... Just sayin.
Yeah dude that's a real pretty drum! I recommend either loosening that head, maybe pouring some water on it, or may1be changing it, because that bass sound is pretty dead. Keep playing that fuckin doumbek don!
Very nice technique; you have a good feeling for melody, too.
Very good!. I love your Darbuka, it really has a crispy clear sound! :-)

@KINGANGELLUM pardon my ignorance, but how pouring water on a plastic head would change the sound? the bass is indeed dead.
