  • A record of an educational cruise for over a thousand pupils, amongst whom were sixty from Ewell County Secondary School, Surrey. This part shows the flight to Venice, and visit to Egypt.

    Thank you for rekindling memories which for me were from March 1967...so many similarities! Venice Navarino Bay Port Said Haifa Gibraltar...the world was very different then but so exciting!! My school was Redstone boys from Redhill in Surrey and for a sec mod was very enlightened and for the princely sum of £48 it was a hell of a bargain!!

    Went on the Nevasa ship in 1966 to Madeira Casablanca and Lisbon. We were school kids from Scotland.

    I was on the 1968, went on my 13th birthday...so scared but so excited...Morocco ,Alicante Gibraltar and Lisbon on the way home. Just fantastic,

    I was on this cruise in March 1966 with pupils from Rydens in Hersham. What lovely memories!

    I went on Nevasa in 1968 to Sweden Russia & Denmark from Seaham Secondary School for the grand sum of £45 for two weeks a lot of money then as my father earned £17 a week as a coalminer so thanks to the best Mam & Dad ever miss you both

      All to true Les, I was on the Nevasa June 1966 to Copenhagen,Helsinki and Leningrad.Think it was £27.My father too was down pit.

    Thankyou for re.kindling fond memories of a very similar trip on Nevasa with my prep school (Brambletye, Sussex) around 1972.
    We were lucky, weren't we?

    We were supposed to fly to Venice to board the boat - but there was a cholera outbreak there so we had to go to Dubrovnik instead. Can you imagine it, a cholera outbreak in Europe? Seems medieval! Unthinkable now. We've come a long way.

    Went on Med cruise on the Nevassa around 1974. I think it cost about £75. My parents said I had to contribute - which led to my first after-school job. Good lesson.
