  • Esteemed scholar and author Thupten Jinpa, Ph.D. explores the intersection of mysticism and theory in the life and teachings of revered Tibetan Buddhist teacher, Tsongkhapa. Tsongkhapa was a key figure in the Ganden Renaissance and a great contributor to the evolution of Tibetan Buddhist thought. Thupten Jinpa’s book, Tsongkhapa: A Buddha in the Land of Snows, is considered the quintessential biography on this great master. In his talk, Jinpa discusses the relevance of Tsongkhapa’s teachings today and explores the often-overlooked mystical dimension that was a significant part of Tsongkhapa’s life and work. This talk is part of the Sacred Stream Speaker Series. Sacred Stream is a school for consciousness studies in Berkeley, CA. Visit sacredstream.org to learn more.
Thupten Jinpa, Ph.D. has been the principal English translator to the Dalai Lama since 1985. What a delightful exposition of Lama Tsongkhapa’s relationship with guru Manjusri and Lama Umapa, and ultimately with his own thoughts which, as you point out Geshe-la, become imbued with great bliss through the experiences with transformative thought during the third retreat at Wonka. Your biography is stellar. Thank you 🙏🏽

I really enjoyed this nuanced talk. The description of "integrated" for Tsongkhapa seems especially apt. I've heard "never jettison your critical faculties", it's like removing ajna chakra and then acting from that basis. Besides, lots of other good stuff I'll be reflecting on. 🙏

I wonder what sort of language they may have spoken? Since Tsongkhapa and Lama Umapa doesn't speak speak sanskrit or pali, just the thought of Tibetan speaking Manjushri is fascinating, maybe with bit of Indian ascent. he he he!
    Joke aside.
Gen la, I was once a closet skeptic of these mystical event that we hear, somehow I came up with this simple thought on this particular meeting with Manjushri, which make sense to me; for example, the host here Isa and Laura has direct access to you but there are people who doesn't, even some among their friends, who have never met you or heard of you. So what is it that those people doesn't have that that your Two friend here has that which make this connection? Answer lies some were there, why I don't have access to Manjushri and Lama Tsongkhapa has.

on... monkey mind... vs living with one's own intentions.. doing things on purpose...
when I hit very great pain.. and I have been, as I cleanse my body and mind.. from what I have been calling radiation poisoning... the doctors ask.. on a scale of 1 to 10.. what's your pain level?... passing radioactive kidney stones is so far beyond anything like that... yesterday was a really bad day.. about 200 on this scale... today I have been absolutely focused... there is, I think, enlightenment on the far side of this living hell I have been going through... but.. truthfully.. while it's going on... other than intentions going in... it's monkey mind... right between the eyes 👀... do not pass go... do not collect 200 dollars .. everything else stops... but.. at the same time.. I have this pressing need to get my work done... no more hungry children... no more fear of our neighbors... in a World where everyone has enough.. where everyone has access to the resources to build whatever they can dream up...
in a World where we live in Peace with all sentient beings... for me this is not some academic desire... I've been working on it for at least half my life... and.. I have a lot of stuff for us... all of us... I'm waiting for my health to improve...
your wisdom has been the anchor in my life.. His Holiness has been available in my mind as I go to sleep... when I wake up... and... I listen... and he has been for years and years... the thousand hands of the Buddha at work... all the Time

one thing pain does is bring me into the present... that's something I have always been working on... here and now... when we combine it with a life of awareness and intentional living... we can create the life we want... but I think everyone does it all the Time... they are just not aware of their own contributions... until we start to practice mindfulness... but I worry that I am too late... that global warming will catch up with us .. again..
      the opposition doesn't sleep
for all that it's always right now... Time passes.. if we don't fix this now... no one will

I have some very serious questions about Atma... and dependent origination... one of the reasons I ended up sitting at the feet of His Holiness is because he encouraged asking questions... I started figuring out how our bodies work... and how the stuff the Planet is made from is a superconductor for magnetic energy... the sun is magnetic.. the whole Universe is magnetic... our brains store information as magnetic binary just like computers.. but in 3 dimensions... and we are surrounded by quantum foam... new particles pop into existence from the passage of light through vacuum... charged particles... as we travel through space time... our thoughts and ideas, our words and deeds are indelibly written on the very fabric of the Universe.. indelible... lasts forever ♾️... follows us around.. firmly attached... kicks our ass when we do bad stuff... creates a life of happiness and joy when we do good things... keeps going from one life to the next...
we are not separate from the Universe we live in... we are, indeed... mutually dependent on all of the above...
but the I... the observer... remembers.. I have been working on this stuff for more than a thousand years... and I think this is the first Time we have a real chance to set ourselves free... again
how can I remember if I am not a unique and separate being... within the Atma...
I have a natural tesseract... where the inside is a direct reflection of the outside
this has been a focus... a question of great importance

      ✌️❤️✌️
I wish I could post pictures here... but I can't so I have to paint pictures with words.. cubic structure in minerals is found in diamond and the "precious" metals like gold and platinum.. cubes have 6 sides.. that are the same in all directions... in photos of the stars of the galaxy... and the fields of galaxies all around us seen in Hubble deep space images developed with Snapseed HDR... I get many orders of magnitude more information than the original published image with smaller and smaller units of information... which brings in near and far infrared and ultraviolet... there are galaxies, quite literally, ad infinitum... some move towards us... some away... some sideways to our motion... all going round and round in spirals traveling through space... but when I develop correctly it brings out a very cubic structure at all scales... fractals are... self similar shapes at all scales. they exist at the border between order and chaos... this order is not imposed on the Universe by an outside agency.. no invisible guy... or guys... just the same stuff as over here by my house or your house... ad infinitum... and it's magnetic... so it lines up with a cubic structure... quantum foam is happening everywhere... all the Time... the stuff we see is the result of positive reinforcement... it brings duration.. long term sustainability...
      negative reinforcement does not...
there is nothing outside of infinity
we are not separate from the Universe
      Planet Earth 🌎🌍🌏
a place where even squares can have a ball 🤠
let's take care of it.. please
      and each other
it's the only Home we have
      ad Infinitum

    • @RickarooCarew
      @RickarooCarew ปีที่แล้ว

those galaxies are different colors depending on the relative motion.. red = away.. blue = towards... green yellow and orange = tangent... they are all mixed up together with no prefered direction...
in an 💥 explosion.. as the "big bang" is supposed to have been a few years ago... there would be a very definite directional preference... there is none in the thousands of images I have looked at
13.8 billion years is.. a few years ago in terms of eternity... because of magnetism.. it self assembles into the stuff we see around us... it's not just going on outside you... you are definitely part of the Universe.. if we close our eyes and look inside 💠 and listen... we will find the whole Universe ♾️ ad Infinitum

Maybe, l should become a metaphysian and profess universal ways. Like, natural reality. Of the vows, of monastic's. Lol
