Hey George, hope you had a great Christmas and a happy new year. Shame it doesn’t have colorx and I agree with you about the aspect ratio. I also wish it came in a smaller form factor as it’s a bit unsightly for home use. Reolink are doing some good things and this is close to a great camera but unfortunately no cigar. Great review as always. Thanks 👍
Thank you for all the information regarding this camera. I've moved into a new home and wanted a different security camera system (not happy with the previous one). I like the flexibility of this Reolink Duo 3. My question is regarding the power supply. I have several lamp lights around the home and instead of tapping into that power to mount a junction box with outlet, I was wondering if can hard wired the camera to that power supply.
If you are ok with the 4K option instead, then the REOLINK Argus 4 Pro+ Solar ; but it's 4K not 8K. Personally, I'd rather have two 4K cameras where I could choose better placement.
@@MrPir84free Yeah I installed the Argus 4 Pro last with the solar powered option and impressed so far! I was worried that the battery would not be able to handle the winter weather. This week will be the first true test
We’ve had negative windchills up to (-20 Fahrenheit) for the last week or so and I’ve had no problem with the solar panels charging my cameras (including a Argus 4 Pro).
Looks like a great camera. It would be great if it could be powered off of USB like I do my tapo off of an outside light BUT I do realize this looks to require more voltage.
Hey George, found you through the Reolink page for the Argus 4 Pro. I've been enjoying doing timelapses on a CX410 and am researching whether it is better to buy a 2nd CX410 to get the other 1/4 of sky or a CX810 or go for a 180 degree cam (has to have color X - clouds and stars are what I'm after). Purely for sky timelapses so battery with solar panel should would. Not sure if 2 x 2K would be better, less detail but more stars (haven't tested that yet) vs more detail on the 2 x 4K. Thoughts? Recommendations?
I can tell you without a video review, I’m not a fan. Cheaply made & the night vision doesn’t live up to the hype. I’m a fan of most Reolink’s WiFi cameras, but I’m not a big fan of their wired stuff. That’s why (if you notice) I primarily stick with their WiFi options. I very much appreciate the suggestion though.
Not a fan of 180 degree; would rather have tracking, and zoom; but this is a valid option for an area of the house that has an area nearly 180 degrees that needs watching. Most single lens REOLINK cameras are about 90 degrees; which fits my current use cases; these 180 degree are great if your house is a perfect rectangle ; mine - would have gaps everywhere unless the camera is mounted pointed AT the house front or rear. Two tracking capable or non-tracking capable cameras, at opposite ends of my current house could provide better coverage than a single 180 degree camera sitting in the center. Two cameras also means that you'd be able to also see the other camera in frame in case someone decided to mess with one or the other cameras. In my opinion, either is a better option, unless you are wanting to cover mainly a driveway or something similar. But having the option available - is still a nice option/choice to have.
G'day, It would be good to Split the feed into 2 seperate images (independant camera feed) without the stitching. Also, the blind spot you talked about is only at close distance and the camera has some adjustability in the settings.
@@ryanwoods4691 That stitching is a result of software programing. change the program to allow sepeerate unstitched feeds."not possible" is nit the same as "not possible at the moment".
There are some image stitching settings (to minimize the split), but You can’t 100% completely fix the split.…but again, it’s a very small seam we’re talking about. Like I said in the video, it’s the nature of any dual lens camera and it worth mentioning. At least Reolink does give you some options to minimize it.
It gets to 110 (heat index). I haven’t been able to test this camera in those extremes yet, but it does have the best weather rating you can get as far as Wi-Fi cameras go. So time will tell…
Are you talking about Alibi Security? They have the best night vision cameras you can buy. This is my favorite: th-cam.com/video/95fsoIbJ_bI/w-d-xo.htmlsi=-lwsakPXQwW9wbgF
Maybe you already did next, but.... NEW light bulb screw in camaras. Could you check them out , make a video of that. DVR is only free or are there other 100% free access over the internet for cellphone. THANKS
Does Reo actually offer a wired WiFi camera that works at -40? I know some of their PoE camera's work in extreme temps, but I've yet to find one in WiFi. I should clarify, last winter we hit -51C (-60F) without the wind, the year before it was -48C (-54F) at the same time of year. Camera's only rated for -14F are useless in the winter where I live.
It’s going to be really hard to find a WiFi camera rated for that temp. This is about as close as you’re going to get. I’d suggest a professional grade Wired NVR System.
Apple announced some update this year that's coming that will be a new standard for door locks Please once it comes out I hope u review the products that use that standard Sorry I wish I knew the technical name for it I saw it on another TH-cam channel fogot it
great review as always George, you are one of the best! thanks to you, I am using cameras to monitor my properties. thanks,
Thank you. Much appreciated. I’m glad you find the videos helpful!
Thanks for sharing your thoughts on this camera.....very informative👍👍
You’re very welcome. Thanks for watching!

Do they have a solar panel option for this one or is its power draw to much for solar
Unfortunately this one doesn’t support the solar option.

If you want any chance of recording stars (in detail), the higher the resolution, the better.
Hey George would you review the RLC833 please

I like cameras that have tracking movements .
A great feature for sure, but It’s harder to do that with the two lenses & 180 degrees. So this camera is more about the wide angle.
BINGO ! and Personally, I prefer the tracking to not be limited in scope..

It isn’t possible because the cameras RTSP stream is naturally both images stitched together.
@@ryanwoods4691 That stitching is a result of software programing. change the program to allow sepeerate unstitched feeds."not possible" is nit the same as "not possible at the moment".
As I said in the video…it’s a very small seam (but it’s there).

Hey george, how hot does it get where you live?
It gets to over 40 celcius where i am, do you think this camera can handle such extremes?

What was the night vision / view on a reolink or another cam you thought was superior to these options I saw on another vid? Thx.

@GeorgeLangabeer Yup those are them! Thx again.
@fishsizzle83 They are wired though. This Reolink camera is WiFi. But If you want a wired NVR solution, Alibi is definitely the way to go.

Hello. I answered this question on one of your other posts.
Anyone with beer in their name must be kinda cool 😎😂

How strong of a wifi signal do you need for this camera to work smoothly?
You’ll want to make sure it’s pretty strong at the camera location. I’d test the spot before you install it.
seems interesting, now the question is how am I gonna install it lmao
You just have to figure out a way to be a little creative when it comes to power. I have faith in you. lol
