It’s the bright clarity of her voice that I find so exceptional. If anything, she’s a milli-tone above the note, which is exactly right because that makes it sound perfectly in tune as the sound travels through the air. Total genius.

In many of her performances, especially in her preteen years she actually seemed to lose herself in the music only returning back to earth at the end of her performances. Two things she said that stood out in an interview at 9 years old having taught herself by watching You Tube videos of Opera singers before ever having a lesson with a vocal coach. One was that her goal was to produce the most beautiful sound she could and would worry and learn about the rest later. The second was she just didn't understand why people cried when they listened to her singing and having that effect on people was perplexing and a bit of a concern. I can't speak for everyone but Amira manages to touch something deep inside of me that no other artist ever has. Her music has become a permanent fixture in my daily life. The most difficult part now is waiting for the next performance.
It seems she has no invitations, it´s a difficult genre overall to make an earning. Look at Jackie Evancho she is undressing more and more to get the attention.
Excellent analysis and I too believe Amira is divinely inspired. Most vocalists focus on the technicals as they are singing - correct pitch, breath control, vibrato, etc This all appears to come naturally, automatically with Amira. She immerses herself in the music and her entire being is singing including her soul. Truly exceptional and exceedingly rare.
Great technical assessment of a great performance. I've rewarded you by subscribing. This 2020 streamed concert was called An African Christmas with Amira and friends. She compiled an eclectic mix of music from a lively Little Drummer Boy, to a cover of I'll walk with God, from the student prince. Sung as a duet. It's all good, largely arranged by the renowned pianist Charl du Plesis. Amira confesses in a video of behind the scenes, that she had a fever and felt rather unwell during this show, she had to return the following week to complete filming. It doesn't show in her her delivery though. There are many stunning performance's by this young lady, the two which make my jaw drop, are her o mio babbino caro with Andre Rieu in 2014, and her singing of Ave Maria, Gomez, in 2015. (Now that was divinely inspired.) Age 10 and 11 respectively. - if you want a couple of suggestions!
As I understand she had to return record the vocals for Drummerboy only, you can easily see it is playback. The tenor got even worse so he hardly could be heard when they sang I´ll Walk With God.
Thank you for your insights to this piece of music. I realized when I first heard Amira perform this, it was something unlike other compositions. It was special. I don’t think Amira is afraid of any vocal challenge. She’s also proof that angels don’t just live in heaven.
Thank you very much for your iluminating analysis of the vocal qualities of this incredable young woman, Amira Willighagen, who astounded those who were present at the,"Holland's Got Talent," competition and continues to do so. Reguards from,Michael Jonathan Lewis,Johannesburg,South Africa.
Most singers deliver the song; some - especially operatic singers - sing and act; Amira not only sings and acts the part, she INHABITS the character. I've only ever seen this vanishingly rare talent in Callas - and it's what makes their performances so shatteringly emotional to the audience. (At the start of her career, Amira was often very upset after performing, thinking people in the audience didn't like her singing, because she saw so many of them crying.)
Thank you William Morris for an excellent explanation of some of Amira's unbelievable abilities. Her technical skill is quite astounding, although Amira herself says she really doesn't major on that but on the "feeling" of the song. She said, in a documentary, that when she sings it feels like she is on a trampoline soaring above the earth. She is not nervous because that is where she is mentally. That and the fact that she just wants people to enjoy music. She can sing alone or with a full choir and orchestra--it doesn't matter--she has no nervousness. Please react to the two performances Andrew Clayton mentioned. They are both stunning. Liked and subscribed and awaiting more or your wonderful insights into Amira!!
Thank you for your beautiful and enlightening reaction! She is truly divinely inspired. Amira conveys also such deep reverence for this prayer to La Vergine degli Angeli. 😇
William: Thank you. I only know what I like, that sound that strikes a certain spot in my psych, so I am amazed when someone of your caliber can put notes to that expression. Kudos to you because, like me, you truly love this young woman , not just for her voice , but for her total persona, a permanent gift from God. When you watch Amira, watch the members of the accompanying musical groups, for even though they are professional, you can see that many are astounded by her presentation. In particular, the amateur video, where she sings with her family, watch her mother, who appears to me to be questioning that she gave birth to this power. In conclusion, examine the factors that brought her to the attention of Andre Rieu, and his orchestra, watch the audience, and the fact that 10, 000 members of the audience gave a standing ovation to a gift from God!
I enjoyed your reaction and analysis....very much in the way I see and hear her....undoubtedly a very fine lyric soprano who will only get better with University education in the vocal arts.
Michael, I hope she doesn’t get into the wrong hands in some university or music conservatoire. This natural divine talent shouldn’t be touched, especially by those teachers giving terrible advise. I’ve seen young talent going j to music schools and leaving, four years later, with all sorts of vocal problems and, worst of all, their confidence destroyed.
@@BangkokVoiceCoach My understanding at this point is that she plans to take a year off and tour and then study vocal arts in South Africa. She has a strong and well developed personality and has always had the most amazing level of assurance and confidence.....I think helped quite a bit by Andre Rieu and the other experienced coaches who had experience also as young singers. Your observation is quite right that when she sings it is not about her...it is about the music.
Is it me or has there been a flourish of new talent over the last few years. Wonderful that these young adults to devote & discipline themselves to them choice of artwork. Since you are so taken with Amira, perhaps you might like to take a look at her friend, her age, composer Alma Deutscher. They have sung the STEPSISTERS DUET together from Alma’s opera, CINDERELLA, which sold out in San Jose, California. Her most reviewed music so far are the third movement of her violin concerto and her SIRENS waltz from her sold-out CARNEGIE HALL concert of her music. This was cocking a snook at the critics claiming that melody has no place in modern music. It resolves a traffic jam into four Viennese waltzes.
Hello Warren, I’ve seen lots of interviews with Alma and plenty of extracts of her music. She has lots of talent and a magnificent capacity to work hard.
I have heard several well known divas performing this wonderful piece, but Amira performs it much better than those. The introductory tone after the opening choir is just devastatingly exquisite.
There’s something very magical about what she does. Such are her gifts that she finds the true meaning in the music. She has had this talent since she was a very little girl.
Two of my most favorite arias are Ave Maria (Schubert) and this aria from La Forza. I have just discovered this heavenly singer Amira and see she has grown up and not lost her angelic voice. Jesus says we MUST BE CHILDLIKE to enter into heaven. This singer is a powerful example.
I think I am done trying to find words for my appreciation towards Amira... I leave it to you... you know what you are on about and actually found the words that I can't think off. Amira is my sound choice at least once a day. Her voice, the musicians and choir comes together in my mind like paintings from Rembrandt or Michelangelo... it's to colourful for words... Thanks...👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻🌷

I have recently enjoyed your commentary and assessment of Amira's performances and see that you have not yet reviewed Amira's rendition of Ave Maria in Iceland accompanied by Gissur Páll Gissurarson. This is one of her best performances, in my opinion, and I would very much like to see and listen to your assessment of it. The affinity of the tenor and soprano here is just mesmerising. I think there is a connection between her performances of Gounod's composition in Iceland and that of Gomez in Nijmegen, which you have so finely reviewed already. Her behaviour and concentration etc, is mirrored in both. Thanks again for your videos, William...
Thank you so much. I’ve been greatly meaning to watch this. The Bach/Gounod is such a perfect masterpiece and I have yet to hear it sung by Amira. Do you know her “other” Ave Maria, by Gomez? Amazing!
So, Mr. Morris, I believe you may want to react to Amira's next wonderful performance that I have observed on TH-cam. Ebben. She performed this as a special guest on Hollands Got Talent 10- year anniversary all-star show in 2023.
I had the shivers from the first note. Spell binding. Fascinating that you put Amira at such a young age on a par with Maria Callas. Interestingly when Amira first came into the public eye on Holland's Got Talent (aged9!) one of the judges compared her tone to Maria Callas. At that stage Amira had had absolutely no vocal training and had copied people , including Callas it has to be said, off TH-cam.
Hi, thanks for your comments. Isn’t she wonderful!? I didn’t compare her to Maria Callas because Callas had an absolutely huge dramatic soprano voice and was singing Tosca at 19!! I just mean that this scene has associations with great big lyric sopranos of the past but Amira brings a very special quality and has a beautiful sound, so angelic!!
Thank you for your very prompt reply. I don't listen very well so thank you for your correction about your Maria Callas comments. I have just subscribed to your channel so am not aware of who you have reacted to so apologies if you have already reacted to this person but have you heard of a Norwegian crossover soprano called Sissel Kyrkjebo. She has done a song called Slow Down with the Tabernacle Choir a very slow but beautiful song which is performed with astonishing skill and the reverence for the piece that only top drawer artists can manage. If you are looking for a more operatic piece try Pie Jesu. Again beautifully performed. This lady is, in my admittedly pure layman's opinion, someone who should be much more widely known . I would be very interested to see if someone of your erudition expertise and experience agreed with me.
As we know, Amira is a crossover artist, excelling in both genres. I would love to see your reaction to her singing 'YourLove'. Is there a chance you could take it on?
Yes! I think she's sent from Heaven! In fact, I think the Angels actually wing their way to Amira in a swoosh!! 🌌☄🌠 whenever they hear her singing & marvel that she is as pure, devoted, and divinely inspired as they are before the Throne of God!! In fact, she probably carries an entourage of Angels around her wherever she goes ...just so they don't miss anything!
Good question. She starts directly on the note, not approaching from below. The key to good bel canto singing is how you start the note, said Maria Callas. Also, Amira sings very slightly above the pitch, which means when the voice carries through the air to the listener, it sounds perfectly in tune.
You won’t believe it. I had La Forza del Destina in the previous one by accident and I couldn’t live with the error!!! Thanks for rewatching though. ❤️
Mirusia is a great technical trained soprano. Amira however is a pure natural stunning heartfelt feeling soprano with a unique soul piercing voice and sound.
I just came from a video of Amira singing "The Lords Prayer" in Holland in April and it was terrible. She had a real problem finding the correct pitch. I don't know, maybe she was sick. This does sound better but wonder if this was "auto-tuned!!
If you listen to her streaming concerts in September and December 2020, you will hear her using a variety of speeds for her vibrato; she can control it to whatever she chooses - and she can synchronise her vibrato with a duet partner. Watch her sing "Gesu Bambino" a month ago - she can sing with no vibrato, if that is what the song requires.
Sie ist so jung, eine schöne Stimme aber sie klingt leider als sie 30 Jahre gesungen hätte. Ihr vibrato ist ein technischer Problem. Wünsche ihr viel Glück.
It's her natural vibrato and Amira is a crossover musical singer. By the way, have you heard the wobbly vibrato from the alarm sirens, rhino like professional opera singers, like Angela Meade 😄, and Angela is a soprano star at The Met, how about you 😄.
Here is a link with Amira singing Musical I Feel pretty where she varies her vibrato from spinning to slow, what is your comment on that, problem with her vibrato ??, loser 😏. th-cam.com/video/5eS1VsHEOyE/w-d-xo.html
She’s only 17. This voice could grow and grow. And she’s already proved she has super intelligence and nerves of steel. Callas had both - and a very large voice that needed a lot of training.
@@BangkokVoiceCoach Other than that she sang this in December 2020 - so she was still three months short of her 17th birthday, you are dead right! She will be 19 on March 27, 2023. You need to see her very recent performance of "Gesu Bambino".

Thank you for your reaction, one of several I've watched, but yours was the most informative & the first to commemt on the G major appregio.
Thank you Ralph 🙏
she's inspires me so much and moves my heart ,she's just unbelievable, amazing
Particularly at this young age. Her gifts move me to tears.
Perfect review of a perfect piece, perfectly sung.
i love this angel to bits her voice is the best in the world. you will never find another angel like her on earth.
Thank you Michael Jonathan. I seem to be quite connected to South Africa these days. Never been though!! - Will
Thank you for you excellent insights on this amazing talent!
My pleasure!
Amira remains at the top of my list!
Thank you for your commentary. I couldn't agree with you more!
Exactly true. It is this very special quality which she so admired in Callas. Have you seen this? th-cam.com/video/yTdOVKPY5tA/w-d-xo.html
Thank you Bill.
i am 77 years old. i have seen them come and go. amira is here to stay and her voice is an angel voice
Thank you for your beautiful and enlightening reaction! She is truly divinely inspired. Amira conveys also such deep reverence for this prayer to La Vergine degli Angeli. 😇
It’s a marvellous piece of music and Amira’s is my favourite performance alongside Maria Callas.
@@BangkokVoiceCoach Please consider also the interpretation of Montserrat Caballé; it`s so splendid💫
Ahora ya lo sabe, que Ella es DIVINA. Un SER DIVINO.
Yes, it seems she has a deep love for Verdi and his beauty.
She's a great God gift golden voice that touches my heart and soul, reminds me of her grandfather Luciano Pavarotti.
@@BangkokVoiceCoach i pray she stays true to who she is and who she really sings for - God.
I really appreciate your remarks. Your criticism because it is teaching me. This is truly wonderful.
Amira the best 🙏🌹
What you explain is beautiful and true!!!
Stunning!
amira is a singing angel. she sent from heaven. her name should be angel amira.
Is it me or has there been a flourish of new talent over the last few years.
Wonderful that these young adults to devote & discipline themselves to them choice of artwork.
Thank you for finding & recognition of their talents, it is all in your spare time showing dedication to us. Aria at the age of 25, what voice will she have then?
I do hope that you have more subscribers after viewing your exciting videos xx
Thank you! From someone who believes this is a rendition of genius but has very little knowledge to back it up... a little bit of affirmation goes a long way! Subscribed.
Very well said. 🎶🙏
She is truly an angel.
¡¡¡¡¡¡¡¡¡ESTO ES MUSICA¡¡¡¡¡¡¡ Gracias William, un abrazo. Saludos.....(Tus comentarios; para nosotros que sòlo la gozamos, tambien es parte de ella)
Two of my most favorite arias are Ave Maria (Schubert) and this aria from La Forza. I have just discovered this heavenly singer Amira and see she has grown up and not lost her angelic voice. Jesus says we MUST BE CHILDLIKE to enter into heaven. This singer is a powerful example.
master class🙏
Thanks Rick. 🎶
Stunning awsome beautiful
I think I am done trying to find words for my appreciation towards Amira...
I leave it to you... you know what you are on about and actually found the words that I can't think off.
Amira is my sound choice at least once a day. Her voice, the musicians and choir comes together in my mind like paintings from Rembrandt or Michelangelo... it's to colourful for words...
Thanks...👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻🌷
This is a truly gorgeous performance from Amira.
this has to be one of her better offers...
the talent is really starting to flower...
you have added a lot... for those who are with less understanding... nice
Thank you for such a fantastic and professional reaction to Amira singing this beautiful aria! I have subscribed in the HOPE that you do many more reactions to Amira, only Amira! You said your friend got nervous before singing, well I don't think Amira was born with those 'nervous genes' at all, Amira just LOVES to sing and the bigger the audience the more she enjoys it! Recently Amira while visiting her father in the Netherlands on a cold winters night in their local church with her Dad on the organ, Amira sang Gesu Babbino It's just a phone recording but the acoustics of the church and Amira creates the most amazing performance! Her is link from Amira's official channel. th-cam.com/video/c5MiyNTZKHY/w-d-xo.html
yes she was sent to earth from heaven. she will become the world best in a few more years
Душевное пение.
Thanks!
To Answering Your question, Yes Amira is Heaven Sent, I recognized that already 10 years ago when I was first introduced to Amira from her first Sound The very first thought that came through my mind was; "The Angel of Future Music" And she has kept that title to this day Only 3 people are in that category, those 3 are all at same Age range and All what I call Angels of Future Music.. Angelina Jordan Astar ~ Amira Willighagen and Alma Deutscher all Angels Sent from Heaven to spread Love Hope and heavenly Light throughout the World in these dark Times . ~ OneLove ~ 🕊️
Thank -you-for articulating the fine points of the music AND Amira's singing. (I'd perceived her performance was exemplary… yet you >explained< it so well.
Amira pure and simple IS A Gift✨from on high… a touch of another realm or dimension into our harried busyness-filled world.
OFF Course God made us, all for me AMIRA IIS JUST AN ANGEL SINGING a Divine Voise
years ago i wrote amira was an angel. she is more then a singer she was giving half of her earning to poor children.
Amazing!
@@BangkokVoiceCoach Yes, that performed in Nijmegen is otherworldly; I don't know how she does it. Extraordinary!
The answer to your question is obviously, yes.
write this on you computer amira willighagen and ben heijnen watch amira take apart with there voices, you will love this video
Hi! I will search for it. 🙏
Амира сама простота,и в жизни и на сцене,это неземное великолепие.
Traditional Bel canto should be like this! I like it👍
wonder what’s basic training for sound metallic shimming sounds?
Good question. She starts directly on the note, not approaching from below. The key to good bel canto singing is how you start the note, said Maria Callas.
Also, Amira sings very slightly above the pitch, which means when the voice carries through the air to the listener, it sounds perfectly in tune.
This is a reupload for some reason? I watched it again anyway!
You won’t believe it. I had La Forza del Destina in the previous one by accident and I couldn’t live with the error!!! Thanks for rewatching though. ❤️
@@BangkokVoiceCoach I hadn't noticed!

This is from december 2020 so she is stil 16 y. old.
Did I say 17??? 😁

The only singer I've heard who surpasses Amira on this aria is Dutch/Australian Soprano Mirusia Louwerse.
I've watched Mirusia sing this aria but I think Amira's version is better.
You are not allowing us to listen to Amira's magnificent singing,by constantly cutting in!!! :( Cut it!!! Do not compete with Her!!! :-/
No TH-cam Inspired ive seen You tube have not seen God
Amira's vibrato has slowed significantly. Is that on purpose?
I doubt it.
Sorry, I do not understand how one can compare Amira to the greatest female opera singers?
