Also he drinks tea. You need to combine every element to make the perfect tea. Water, plants growing on earth, fire to boil it and wind to give it the perfect temperature.
Escaping from prison requires some stamina. And during the whole show we had plenty od opportunities to see that Iroh was not in a top shape after his retirement. Not by a long shot. but here? He had to up his game for the comet and the inevitable confrontation. Also - watching him being a total boss doesn't hurt at all. So yeah.
I'd like to like your comment, but it has 70 right now and I won't be the one to ruin it. Seriously tho: Many of his moves show that Iroh is basically Sun Tzu, throughout the show. His wisdom and strenght, balanced with the perfect tactical know-how is one of the best things that I always adored and pitied that they didn't make him an even more important character on the main storyline.

Uncle Iroh is the equivalent to a main character who has already finished his story. His character development, his own firm stance in his beliefs, its like he had a prequel that no one knows exists. Thats how you handle a character like this

Maybe it would’ve broken the focus of the failed invasion and of Zuko confronting his father. You have to admit, if we had seen that, it would’ve overshadowed the rest of that episode.

Hence, Prince Iroh had a much easier time escaping, most likely he used his lightning to shoot a hole in the prison wall and then jumped out.
I like how this show you the meaning of balance with not just Aang but Iroh and Sokka too. Aang is the most obvious, but Iroh shows how a single element bender can use the principles of all the elements. Sokka shows how a non-bender use the principles of all 4 elements too.
Finally the official video, you tubers mess this up Btw iroh used a ton of jins in this video. He pretended to be weak while strong. Although he probably could’ve taken the one guard he couldn’t take a full on prison army. He waited until the right moment while getting his body in shape. He also pretended to be insane so azula or oazi wouldn’t place him in the boiling rock. Iroh is the smartest character in all of television and it anit even close.

Iroh was the Avatar without the 3 elements and was a lot like Zaheer. He trained the 4 disciplines of the four elements and utilized them through his firebending, he also traveled into the spirit realm which only airbenders were able to do until now.
The one main thing I really love about Iroh, is this. His jail time. He knew there's no honor in prison. He played the long game. He doesn't mind being the insane old man if he can go one step closer to achieve whatever he wants. That shows mental fortitude, something Ozai doesn't have. Think about it, had Iroh been the Fire Lord, Aang would've had harder time, even losing.
The jailor hearing the clapping sound of Uncle Iroh in the prison is the perfect foreshadowing of how they were going to get clapped by uncle Iroh in the prison break.
