Edit: - Looks as if the Eshop stated file size is just for AC II despite the fact that the three games are downloaded as one package. There’s an additional 27.1gb to download (for everything including audio pack. A very strange and unhelpful way for them to list it but apologies for any confusion the review causes in this respect.

Nice review. Although I'm hard press on getting it at full price due to the rest of games in the collection digital code only and these games pretty old plus more, and new interesting titles coming out.

@@huzcer Then your not a real AC Fan. Fundamentally, philosophically and mechanically AC 1 is quintessential to the series.
@@splinterborn forgive me for judging a game on whether it was actually good or not to play! it was repetitive, uninspired and boring in gameplay with very uniform environments and clunky combat and lacked the famous parkour elements. AC2 saved the series from cancellation.

I love this game. Its the 1st Assassins Creed I ever played from beginning to end on the 360. The only gripe is the fact only 1 game is on the cartridge. I will be picking up a physical of this and The Rogue collection. Along with Dying Light on cartridge, it sums up my shopping list for the next 6 months ( yes I'm a modest poor man) lol. Cheers Glen. Dying light is an excellent port on switch, you won't be disappointed.
What do you mean there is only one game on the cartridge? Is there not all 3 ezio games?

Porting Syndicate and Unity would also be a good challenge for Ubisoft. I think it can be done although would sacrifice a lot in terms of graphics. That being said, I'm just happy Ezio trilogy is on the Switch! A must play for old and new AC Fans!
Who cares about graphics when you got ac unity
They ported The Witcher 3 and Crysis trilogy with decent final results....so everything is possible

Nah, the Switch is way too weak for those games. They struggled to run on the PS4/Xbox One, there is not a chance they'll get Unity to run on Switch above like 20 FPS at most
It's a bit disappointing that only Assassin's Creed 2 is on the cartridge but hey at least it's the best Assassin's Creed game full stop :)
And at least they didn't make it Cloud only (*cough* Kingdom Hearts).

I loved the Ezio series when they came out. I had so much fun playing the games, even playing them 2 times. Cannot wait to play these games om the Switch and the nostalgia it will bring me! I really hope they continue to port over more Assassin's Creed games!

I totally forgot about the "It's a me, Mario!" line in the game.
These three were probably my favorite games in the whole AC series. I beat all three of these games inside and out on the Xbox 360. That said, I'm still not sure I'm interested in replaying them. My backlog is big enough without adding ports of 15-17 year old games to it. lol
The oldest of the three games in this collection, AC2, came out on November 17th 2009 - 12.25 years ago. But I get your point.
Assassins creed 2 was one of the first games I got on my Xbox so many great memories
Got it on sale for 20 bucks. 20 bucks for my favorite AC story(Ezio's entire life) on a portable format? Hell yeah!

It's so cool that some of my childhood games that I played on a bulky PS3 are now able to be played on a tiny tablet on the go
30 hours in and I have to say this is the first review where I think you fluffed the score. Is the free climbing as smooth as later entries? No. Is Ezio the best character from among the protagonists on the switch releases? Clearly. I'm in Venice at the viewpoint opposite the assassin's tomb (one of the best unique features of this entry - mini traversal challenges that are awesome) and the graphics and sense of scale are incredible. This game clearly deserves a high 80's score. Sorry chaps, don't agree with you on this one at all. Another solid port that's well worth the money.
Nice. I still haven't finished the Rebel collection, but am glad to hear this seems to have ported well. Will probably check it out someday, likely when it goes on a steep sale.
I don't know why but this collection interests me greatly. I remember playing them on an older laptop which wasn't the best experience but enjoyed them thoroughly.

I remember renting Assassin's Creed 2 when it first came out when I was 9 years old from my local Blockbuster! I fell in love with it from then on out! While it and it's two sequels are a bit dated, they all have a very special place in my heart as some of my favorite games! The fact that I can now play these on a handheld simply blows my mind! My younger self would have been even more ecstatic than I am!
I really wished they ported 1 too. Revelations ties directly into it, so without it you're missing a chunk of the experience.
AC revelations was my absolute favorite of the three games I can’t wait to play it on the switch

I have played black flag, origins and unity ( i am playing unity now) but on pc and i really enjoyed them i would really like to try it

Not sure why but your gameplay is way smoother and looks better than my game. My game is super choppy and also the textures look pretty bad. Maybe I just remember ACII differently because I could have sworn the game looked better than this on the PS3.

Yeah. Collections of games that needs 2 out of 3 to be downloaded do not deserve to be bought at full price. Also since it's a Ubisoft game I'll wait when it becomes $15 or less later this year

Yesterday i bought the assassin's creed rebel colletion on my nintendo switch. I havent played that much, but from what i have Sean it runs perfectly and the gameplay is solid👌

Is this a good game for someone who didn't really like Black Flag that much? I found BF okay, but not sure if this is a better entry into the series or if AC in general simply isn't for me.
Imagine black flag with all of the naval stuff taken out, that’s pretty much what you left with. It’s pretty much just the cities

I’m really happy now with the AC games on Switch. Imo the best AC has ever been starts with AC II, all the way up till Black Flag, maybe even Rogue.

7:08 just a correction: it runs at 60 fps on xbox one (ezio trilogy, maybe you are confusing the 360 version?), not at 30 fps btw.
Asssasins creed 2 was really amazing - at the time. Now it’s a bit dated. Still nice to be in those regions of Europe, just fun to travel around and enjoy the city
Played this really great trilogy already on X360 and will definitely get this version again. Not at full price though because of the dated graphics.
Id say wait for sale. Because its a trend with Ubisoft games. Sales can be as soon as 3 month after release. Ive only played Revelations but in no rush to get it tbh

No better way to put the A-S-S in Assassin’s Creed than playing portable on the porcelain throne…
7.4gb only covers AC 2. The entire collection, with the 2 short movies included is just over 30gb. Although the Witcher III was able to jam that much (or pretty close to it, I don't quite remember exactly how large it was) onto a single card with only the updates needing to be downloaded. I really wish more companies would opt to put the entirety of a game onto the cartridge, because the more companies buy the larger cartridge sizes, the cheaper they'll become in the long run. Oh well.

I just wish they fixed the gameplay of especially AC2 tho. We need a better weapon wheal, improved counters with the hidden blades, maybe even an option for chain kills and ofc seperate tools like in Revelations. You can say whatever you want but i'll be honest, Ubisoft has done a great job with the graphics on AC2, Revelations didn't make bug changes but Brotherhood got it's yellow color, which makes me enjoy being a PC gamer even more.
I remember, I beat AC1 and thought it was good. Then I beat AC2 and thought it was great and was excited for the story moving forward. Then I skipped the next couple of games thinking they were just spin-offs only to realize after starting AC3, that they were absolutely crucial to the plot and I was just lost and confused on why the girl I fell for in the first two games wasn’t only dead, but was somehow plotting against me. Oh, and my dad was randomly with me and a few other strangers all piled up in a van headed somewhere that I had no clue about. But anyways, now I can finally fill in those holes in the story.

Assassin's Creed 2 was one of the first games that was truely 'next gen' to me, I remember my mind being blown
Mmm.. looking forward to my nostalgia kick with Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles later this year. As much as I was stoked for Assassin's Creed initially when the first one dropped, I ended up only playing it for a few hours before drifting away. Maybe I'll give it a try with a much nicer discount someday!
is there any plans in the future for the Splinter Cell series which is my all time favorite.
At first i thought £45 was steep. The games can be bought for ps3 and cost £3 per disc… less than £10 for the exact same content but nobody wants to be playing them on ps3 in 2022 even though it works just fine.
Considering at launch AC2 alone was £40, same for brotherhood and revelations… £120 altogether!
Now we have all 3 with DLC made portable on a modern console for a middle of the road price. Then when you slap a sale on this (which im certain it will get down the line) it’s a no brainer.
Good collection, a lot of people never played all of aC 's i need only 1 that's only in the collection on Xbox one....the only 1 that isnt unlockeble on the 360 i can download IT...but not buy....i wanted to sell my Xbox but didn't do IT....because the 1 i still wanted, want a switch lite and its good to see they released IT here

Would anyone in the comments be interested in a limited release publisher trying to re-release all game collections on switch but on the max storage card (32gig). That means, AC3 + dlc; AC Rebel with both black flag and rogue on one cartridge, AC 2, brotherhood and revelations on one cartridge, borderlands collection, bio shock collection, resident evil triple pack, resident evil origins pack, resident evil revelations pack, but also single games with obligatory download such as LA noir, wolfenstein II, and more.
I’ve seen businesses such as LRG, Special reserve games, strictly limited games etc release all sorts of titles, which is great for those indie titles nog getting a physical release without them. But somehow they often fail to cooperate with triple A developers / publishers for those triple A games on one cartridge. Hell, they even released crysis 2 and 3 remaster separately. I bet fans would pay extra for having their favorite game series all on cartridge, without needing to micromanage storage space all the time when downloading other games / saving screenshots and videos etc.
Who here would pay extra for all games on one cartridge? (Basically reducing the cost risk of spending on the biggest and most expensive proprietary Nintendo 32gb cartridge for them, since the real avid collectors will pay that little extra for physical game collecting)
Unlike many here, I have no Nostalgia for Ezio as I never played those games. Would you say it’s worth getting them after being used to the Rebel Collection?

This era was the only time the modern day stuff (Desmond) was interesting. It used to have a Da Vinci code feel with the puzzles etc, after it became about gods and stuff I lost interest.
Also I lived in Florence for a while which was really cool because the city is basically the same now as it was in the Renaissance.
My experience with AC2 on switch so far is that of a weirdly laggy menu, and accidental wall ejections that get me killed.
In other words, its how I remember playing AC2 years ago, so im not complaining.
I'm a little bit more impressed with how AC3 turned out on switch though.

I never played the AC series but I’m sorta familiar with Ubisoft other open worlds and another similar experiences one of their series I treasured a lot it’s the Prince of Persia and AC reminds me a lot of the Prince series so I’ll probably give them a try I never experienced them so this would be something I might end up liking a lot
One day, I will get around to playing an Assassin’s Creed game, I just have too much on my Wish List and backlog to commit the time needed at the moment. Looks like a nice port and I do hope that the other two titles perform equally as good.
Still one of those annoying cases when it releases on Switch but it's available on PS4 for a tenner... Great review :)

I really doubt the whole thing is 7.4gb. If you look at the AC Collection page on the Nintendo website, it says 7.4gb but I am fairly certain that is only for AC2 and the package menu screen. If you scroll down on the website, it lists the other games and movies as “individual DLC.’ This means that in total the space needed will be much higher. Just like how you have to download AC Rogue from the Black Flag menu, the eshop page will only tell you how much space the main game takes up and does not list any downloadable items.
It could well be. That's the size given on the eshop page which is all I can go by. You'd think that would list the full size seeing as its one package but who knows.

Physical will not last forever. We all have to accept that games and media in general will go digital, period.
