Thanks for the kind words and for watching Mark🙂🥃. I just got a 1993 Single Cask 23 year PX Puncheon that is incredible? I always thought that PX was good but sometimes not as good as oloroso and sometimes overly sweet but with over 23 in PX casks and extra wood complexity I am kind of changing my tune🙂
You nailed on the head with chocolate covered cherries, walnut and leather. Really great stuff. I doubt I’ll see these releases in the stores around me whenever I get back out but I’ll keep my eyes peeled for sure. Cheers 🥃

Great segment, Keith, and brilliant idea to compare the two 24 year olds! I did a Zoom tasting of these two with our local Bourbon society (for those black sheep who like scotch too! LOL) and they were blown away by them. Spot on about the walnut dry finish on the Allardice. Love them both but I give the edge to the Allardice. Slainte Y'all!

Nice one Keith. For me, it just depends on the batch of the 18 and 21. Some are better than others, but they are pretty dang close. Even though they have been getting older, I think the earlier bottlings were better and probably had better casks in the batches (maybe more 1st fills in earlier bottlings) You get the extra punch of abv with the 21 but the 18 is 100% oloroso and a tad cheaper. The 18 is still one of the best buys out there imo. Cheers man!
Linking them to their actual ages is a great idea. On some occasions, the 21 wins the day but most of the time I too have to go with the 18. Thank Keith for another fine review!

I have a bottle of the Glendronach Allardice 18 that I'm saving for a special occasion, but the Parliament is now going a real premium compared to a few years ago. Cheers Keith on enjoying those special Glendronach's.

allardice was ~70€ in 2018 and parliament was 85, now allardice is as high as 130-140 and parliament is basically the same, maybe 150
Great review, Keith! I tried them both, and I don't see what all the fuss is about, but I tend to lean more to the peated side of scotch...
I don’t think you tend to be in love with true sherry bombs from the videos that i have watched of you over the years🙂. To each our own...that is the beauty of whisky, and if we all had the same tastes we would barely ever get to enjoy the whisky that we like because we would all be fighting over the few styles that everyone liked🙂. Great idea for a comparison Keith. Have heard some say the distillery will continue to blend in at least a few older casks to the newer bottles to try to maintain the character of the whisky
I hope you are right about them blending in older casks and not abruptly going straight to 18. Where did you hear that? So i ordered two new whiskies this last weekend so I waited to send the package until they arrived. I ordered Glendronach 1993 Single Cask 23 PX Punchean, and Deanston 16 CS Organic Oloroso which i figured you would like to try both🙂. So pouring tonight and probably sending out sometime later this week🙂👍

Yeah if they just go straight to 18 especially with all those years closed you would think that the change would be dramatic. Also wondering if they will be putting PX in the 18 like they have with all the others?
@@DonnerPassWhisky You never know. They re-re-released the 15 and now it is completely different from the "Original revival".
They can certainly do the same with the 18, although I saw an interview with the distillery and then they said it would gradually become younger in 2020->.

Great video man! Generally I prefer the Allardice over the Parliament too - I've had the last several years, including 2019 and I think 2017 is my favorite so far. But they're all great. Even the true 18 year old versions I've had are just wonderful.
Also - I don't think it's snapping right back to 18 right away. I've heard that it's supposed to stair step 23 again, then 22, 21, etc. for several years back to the true 18.
Hmmm the intel that I found from several sources stated that it was going straight back to 18. I hope you are right...do you remember where you read or heard that? Cheers Michael🙂🥃
@@themaltedmancave9499 A friend of mine was told that at the distillery - that they don't want the profile to snap back so suddenly. I've also heard from some other folks that they saw that same thing mentioned in a whisky.com video, but I don't have a link to that.
I've only had a 2016 Allardice and it's an amazing bottle. The quickest I've ever went thru a bottle. Would love to find a 2019 to compare. Have you ever compared the different years? Cheers!
No😏. I’ve had almost every years release since 2017, but I drink through them so fast that they were gone by the time the next year came around🙂. I wish I would have had some more self discipline so that I could have compared them🙂. Cheers Andy🥃
The new Revival is one of my favorites now. I have a two 2016 and a 2019 of the 18, and yet to get the Parliament, but I'm not disappointed the new 15.

Should add that for a 12, the Glenallachie 12 might blow your mind. I thought it to be a much older with the PX & Oloroso mix. I have an oddball PX Tomatin 12, Glendronach 12 with a Glenmorangie 12 to compare with and last nights pallet put the Glenallachie on top. The 46 abv changes so much it might not be fair as well. All enjoyable however.

Thanks for doing this comparison. If I could find any of the 2019s I'll give it ago. The one thing that messes with me is the distiller change at GlenDronach. Will the later batches that are older under Rachel's eye be very different between the ones from Billy Walker? I've got a 2016 Allardice bottling from Billy's time there. Wondering how Rachel's batches are?
I think most of the good casks that were sitting around and sloshing around in all of those excellent sherry casks during the mothball period have for the most part been bottled. I don’t plan to buy any newer glendronach’s which breaks my heart. I think Rachel’s earlier bottlings (when she first took over) are the ones to look for.

The 18 gets the nod over the 21 for me all day long. Picked three bottles up a couple of years ago, since then it's gone up £20 a bottle. Keep trying to convince the Mrs that I've actually saved 60 quid😉

Unfortunately, if you don't also add water to the 18, the 21 will be more fragrant/tasty, because the water, in addition to diluting the alcohol, separates out the oils.
Thus, you need to add water to both, but more water to the 21.

Have you had the 2019 21 year parliament? I have always thought the 18 was quite a bit better but the older that the 21 gets I feel like the extra wood interaction makes it a little more complex and less of a one trick pony that it has been at younger ages closer to its intended 21 years🙂. Obviously the 18 still takes the cake but 21 at least gained a little ground on it🙂. Thanks for watching Arthur!

I ran to my Glendronach 21 to try to find the year.. I couldn't find it! lol where do you find the year of the bottle?
Back of the bottle, low. You need to hold the bottle up to the light to see it.
It’s in black print on the back of the bottle towards the bottom. Sometimes it can get rubbed off or fade😏

joe smith So sorry for the late response Joe...not sure how I missed your comment. The 2014 is 21 years old ...it starts increasing in age by 1 year starting in 2017....so the next few years it starts getting a lot older. 2017=22, 2018=23, 2019=24,etc. Cheers buddy..hope that helps🙂🥃

My goal to have 2 bottles of each year 2018,2019,2020,2021, one bottle to sipping and 1 bottle in collection to have a lineup. And x bottles of 2022. As stupid as it sounds.
By the way im new to whisky journey. Glendronach 21 parliament was my 4th bottle of whisky. First one i bought was lagavulin 16. Second was ardbeg ten. Third was redbreast 12. So i have just small collection as of now.

Unfortunately all of them are only 12 years. The 12 was older from 2009-2014 I believe, but since then it is back down to a 12 year😏. Still great compared to most 12 year olds though🙂🥃

@@themaltedmancave9499 Never really looked into single cask and cask strength Glendronachs although I really enjoy their core range... They weren't on my radar at all. Do you have any recommendations taste wise if I run across one?
@@tolga1cool Well all the Oloroso matured ones 18 years and over are incredible but you can find the PX matured single casks for a lot cheaper and they are almost as good.
I only believe that they'll continue the 21 until it's 21 again when I see it. More likey sooner rather than later it'll meets the fate of the 15, don't you think? Or are there news from GD I've missed?
All the research I have done stated that it will be 25 years in 2020, 26 in 2021, 27 years in n 2022, and then back to 21 years old in 2023, but who knows...you know these things can change and you know some people information out there that people claim is true can be false. The 21 is selling for $200 here, which is very expensive for a 21 year old whisky.
So, the sales-volume, compared to the 18 at $100 is probably much lower.
Thus, it is less risk that they will run out of Whisky until they can turn back the clock on that one.
I secured 5 bottles of the 2019 edition of the 18 and I will buy one in 2021, to compare, provided that it is still all Oloroso.
