I test drove the v60 t6 a couple of weeks ago and that car is really nice, the interior looks really nice and the engine is lovely! The seats feel like they were crafted for my body . I have also been to the volvo factory in south east sweden a couple of times and seen the creation of the cars which is really interesting
You forgot to say that the car that you tested has the polestar upgrade, wich makes a great difference on shifting gear, power and torque. I just bought the v60 T6 and I love it.
True story about Roomba : a family got a puppy which in a middle of the night made a number 2 on a floor. Roomba detected dirt and went about cleaning it. Well in the morning family awoke to a dog sh*t smeered all over the floor. And that's exactly how I feel about autonomous anything. Great on commercials and in perfect scenarios but comes an unexpected situation they tend to make sh*t worse.
Urban legend, but funny. Roomba is so loud that nobody would programme it to clean at night. And it does not simply detect dirt and go cleaning. I'm not sure how it would "react" to poo, but I suppose it could smear its sensors, and lead to an error and stop.
As Saab is no longer on the market it seems to be the only choice for me.Hilarious design and it’s great that diesel is yet available.Great review-Big up!
Happy new year Marek! This car looks great. It only comes in AWD T5 or T6 in Canada. Rumour is the T8 version will be coming as well. Having said this, those engines seem incredibly complicated and feel like they are a setup for expensive repairs down the road. Hmmmmmmm. As for the BMW, the new version of the wagon is not coming to NA. UGH!

In a German mgmt magazine, they just published a study that showed on average European car manufacturers lie about fuel consumption by 39 to 50%. Daimler continues to be the worst as usual.
Nothing new unfortunately. Same results were published in a 2014 study. Here's a more recent publication from the same source. www.transportenvironment.org/publications/mind-gap-2016-report
+notformebeaky I realise it's hard to replicate test conditions in real life traffic, but with NEDC tests car manufacturers designed their engines to meet test criteria. So they are as much to blame, as a student, who learns only to pass a test, but doesn't really know how to use the knowledge in real life. On paper a car was supposed to use 4L/100 km in urban cycle, but no matter how economically you drove it, you never got below 6-7. That's a big percentage discrepancy. Buying a car you have to budget for it as a family and as a company. If something is 50-70 percent above your budget that's a big deal.
and they all just happen to be 39 to 50% over...which would imply agreement with your argument. But it is a lie, because some companies, e.g. Peugeot claimed to now only publish "real world driving usage"
Nice review, Mareck, many thanks. Is it blue urine diesel line? Fore wheel drive? Dimensions and ground clearance? IMHO this wagon is a real competitor for premium crossovers and SUVs.
AFAIK all diesel engines these days need AdBlue to meet emissions regulations. However this may be the last series of diesel engines in Volvo, as they announced plans to move towards hybrids and EVs.
According to specification I received from Volvo this is an Inscription model with RC30 comfortable seats with Nappa leather, perforated and ventilated. Words "Polestar", "sport" or "R-Design" do not appear in the specification.
@@MarekDrives Talking only about UK spec cars but assuming they're similar to on the continent it would appear you have a slightly Frankenstein car. Chrome details on front bumper suggest inscription but wheels suggest r-design. It doesn't even look like those wheels are available as an option for inscription spec. And then as others have said, polestar branding on the rear of the car but you've elsewhere in the comments suggested it's not a polestar spec. Wonder what other oddities this car has. Edit: looks like the wording in the headrest says "inscription" so maybe they just raided the parts bin for those wheels :)
I always enjoy these reviews, and I absolutely agree with your point about the load cover. I hired an XC90 which has the same system and it’s awful. A rare Volvo fail.
Great review as always. Actually, I think this was an A+ review. I loved your segment on autonomous driving and overall focus on practical aspects of the car instead of just mashing the accelerator. But the seats? Really? You want them softer. Ok. But are they really harder than the Germans? I don’t recall you making the same complaint in BMW. Maybe none of BMW or Mercedes fleet cars are equipped with “standard “ seats, also known as church pews.
The 850 was more practical. It had a water temperature gauge which this V60 does not have, a full size spare wheel which this V60 does not have, a more square and upright rear to take large boxy items such as furniture
Why do you need a water temperature gauge. There's usually a little light that tells you "too hot". However I agree boxy boot was better to haul large items.
@@MarekDrives Because as an engineer it helps me to monitor the health of my engine. I don't like to stress the engine too much when it is cold and water temperature gauges have help me identify cooling issues with at least 3 of my previous cars. A water temperature light tells you almost nothing whereas a gauge lets you know how quickly the engine is warming up, and if it is running cold
So far this is the only car I have chosen as an option to replace my beautiful Citroen C5 from 2011 but has ONE GIANT PROBLEM , the only problem of this car , the dashboard :(((( , I hate the tablet that is horrid and UNPRACTICAL. So for now I will wait a little.
@@WinkelHoof That big tablet on the center console is ugly and takes alot of attention to handle. Although my Citroen has tonns of buttons I don't even have to look at them because I know the function of every single one so I don't have to take my eyes from the road. The rest of the interior is awesome!
Too chinese??? Volvo!?!? Except racism, i don’t understand this point.. if Volvos are « chinese interiors feeling ».. american cars are... russian (Lada)?? 😅😅
Exactly. Looks absolutely chinese. Also if You look at 0:23 and 0:33 -- You will see a "broken" window molding line between rear door and back window, which tells a lot about overal quality. Here in Saint Petersburg we had a story from one of the bloggers, when Volvo sold a new XC90 which had a tendency to turn as if it had a problem with convergence. The dealer company washed their hands. (Good russian business). So when they checked the car at independent station, the distance between front and rear wheels on the left and right sides were different in 50 millimeters. It's 5 cantimeters, Carl! Pure geometrical body divergence. Really dissapointing, Volvo. Goodbye.
Sorry, I just don't believe there could ever be 50mm wheelbase difference from side to side. For a start, the wheels wouldn't sit correctly in the arches. This sounds like an urban myth based on nothing in the real world. I agree about the misaligned side trim though but I've seen that in many new cars, so it's not terribly unusual.
i own a v90 and CLS 2013 and i cannot even compare de seats, Volvo seats are another level
@Marek Drives - you are probably the best European car reviewer on TH-cam, keep up the good work!
Thank you. I'm sure there's at least one more just as good, but I can't think of any at the moment :)

NEW Volvo V60 is top of the Class!

God damnit that thing is sexy. And I happen to be in the market for an estate right. Shame that this is completely out of my budget!! :(

My pleasure!
Yes, Volvo interiors are pleasing.
Interior too Chinese?? Funny that the main designers at Volvo are a German, Thomas Ingenlath and an Englishman, Robin Page
And the interior designer is Robin Page from Bentley fame !! Chinese indeed lol
The main designers at Volvo is absolutely not Germans! And Volvo S90 won the price of the best interior design in Geneva! So what!!!!
Agree, Kia level interior, exterior is superb though
Andrej Novoslavskij don’t think you’ve ever sat in a KIA.....

despite Peugeot claiming to now publish real-world figures, they are still in the club of misleading consumers. Shame on them all.
WLTP is more realistic, but very few manufacturers publish them yet.

In the V90 boot cover is electric, and guess what: it works!
Good point, the electric ones does actually work.
My problem with this particular one is how flimsy it is. For a 50+k euro car you'd expect quality throughout.
