I love this 65 Shasta and I could live in there. There’s a shower and toilet which is very important to me. The kitchen is neat and functional. This is one of the best I have ever seen so far. Thank you for sharing...
We rode out a Kansas tornado in one back in 1969. Survived it surprising well. Was able to repair the damage where the tree fell on the door and the car. We towed them with cars back then.
Keep looking. There are a lot of those around. Don't buy a "Restored" one unless you can see photos of the build. A lot of scammers out there are puttying and painting over the rot and selling these pieces of rolling junk for way too much money under the guise of being "restored"...
One day soon I'd like to get 1 of these. Want to go traveling with my husband at least a week or two every month. Had 2 brain surgeries (9/30/2015 & 6/1/2016). Got blessed with huge miracles both times!! Going out to beach, deep breathing before each surgery kept my body oxygenated enough to let what was supposed to be 23hrs, only took 7.5hrs. With walker, left UCSF 3 days later. Second surgery, left 20min after. Whenever we get the chance my husband takes me to the beach to breathe. 🤗 With a trailer like that we can go for weeks instead of days.
Larry, off hand do you know how long a vintage trailer has to be to have a shower, toilet, sink? I’m getting discouraged with this new camper, and looking to down size by building one from scratch by replicating a vintage trailer.
My parents had this exact trailer. Was there a bunk above the twin beds? It looked like there was a slide? My sister insists that we added the bunk , which is where I slept. Tjey had bolsters in ours for wjen the table was up and my parents used the bolsters on the floor between the twin bedss and that is where my sister slept, she was a baby when they bought the trailer. My dad wanted the smallest self contained trailer shasta made and this was it. My mom liked the rear kitchen also😊
HA! When I saw the thumbnail for this video I was so confused -- "Why does Larry have a photo of my trailer on his channel!?" I have the exact same trailer, minus the trunk and the mini-wings. Headliner is also toast, but the rest of the trailer is in similar condition to Bob's. I have had a lot of trouble finding owners of this model online. What are your thoughts on renovating this particular model? Faithful restore or make it your own? I'm leaning towards the later. Do you happen to know if the floor tiles contain asbestos?
I don't know about the asbestos but I never worry about that really. You should never gut a trailer and move things around. The structural integrity is in how the trailer is built on the inside and if you change it you lose the structural integrity.
ours was exact except for the trunk on the back, and the drawers and the mirror over the frig area. my dad insisted when my sister was born (I was 7) that the trailer was self contained, my dad was 6'3" so that shower was not an easy shower for him. there were boulters for the back of the twin beds when the table was up, we used those boulsters between the beds and that is where my sister slept as a baby and a toddler. These were some of the best memories of my life!!
How much do you think this rig weights? I was asking because I'm looking to get rid of my 33' Bounder and find a trailer to pull behind our camper van. Does this rig have fresh water tank etc... ? toilet appears to have a tank instead of pumped water. Thanks
@@starriw8050 I still have yet to pay more than $500 for a trailer. I just don't look on CL or EBAY. I look for them sitting in fields and in people's back yards. I did a video on trailer hunting. th-cam.com/video/CYlDBJTa3oc/w-d-xo.html
We could comfortably live full-time in this beauty.....& with 3 small dogs...🐕🐅🐅 P.S. did you check out the bunk-bed that's on top of the beds? 🛌 🛌 cool right? 😎 EXTRA SPACE 👷
Do you have any videos showing how to build one of these fold down bunks? I just purchased a 1966 Ideal and they removed the one that was in it and I'd like to replace it.
The owner is an expert in the hobby and my mentor. He said it was a Deluxe. But I understand because I have a hard time telling the difference my self.

I really like the rear kitchen. I just love the Shasta hopefully I'll have one some day.
Don't wait too long. Vintage trailers are getting scarce and the prices are soaring.
Love love this camper, exactly what I'm looking for, thanks for sharing
My pleasure Dawn...
I love this trailer. A bathroom, yea! Most women dream of diamonds, I dream of a little vintage trailer💟

I've been seeking for a small one called the "Shasta Compact" for me and my 4Cyl. Car and they are hard to find, but am still searching for one!

mobiltec thank you for input as I really don't know to much about these trailers, but if they are out there I'll take your word for it.
Love that trunk too, nice handy storage! Good idea.
Well made video i want one of these my old neighbor appreciated classic stuff like this
Absolutely fabulous!! Love it, love it😍

It's the same age as me, but in better condition :D
I dont know what it is but this Trailer I love looks just like the one my dad had when I was a kid.

Jerry I've seen bathrooms in trailers as small as 10 feet.

Not that I remember.
Great looking trailer Larry, did see the ceiling needed some love, but very cool!
Yep the glue on that vinyl starts to give out after about 50 years LOL. Most people just pull it all down and paint the ceiling.
+mobiltec Wrll ok then.

My parents had this trailer, but you forgot to show the upper bunk that pulls out, that is where I slept!

Yes this rig has a fresh water tank. It probably weighs about 2000 pounds. But I'm not really sure.
I just got one nice to see it done
Like the background music!
Do you happen to have any info on 1968 Shasta’s?
Other than what you saw in the video no.
How much does this trailer usually cost? It is so beautifull and looks so comfort. I can really imagine myself living in there😍😍
Oh these old trailers vary a lot in price. Depends on who you buy it from. I wouldn't pay any more than $750 for it.
mobiltec thank you for answering☺️
@@mobiltec woah where do you find that price?

I love this trailer.
I own a 63 Shasta with the rear door and kitchen currently restoring it.
These are kinda rare. Good luck.
This is a beautiful Trailer how much is it ?
Love it!
Larry-are these trailers for sale? Or is 'Bob' just a collector?
Nice find
Iam not the one for old trailers but i like this one it would be perfect foe me
Nice looking trailer
Thanks!

Those will support an adult. The 66 Super Shasta that I did is built the same, just a bigger trailer.
Can the beds be put back into couches or chairs?
Yes.
Rear kitchen is awesome
Sweet
elle est trop belle
I just watched the video again and noticed a fold down bunk ?
Yes it slides out. It's an upper bunk.
thanks

This appears to be a 16 SCS not a deluxe....
The owner is an expert in the hobby and my mentor. He said it was a Deluxe. But I understand because I have a hard time telling the difference my self.
What size is this trailer?
I believe this one is 16 feet long.
I'm kinda looking for one To fix
That looks like 70s laminate paneling.
Why is it that the late 60s and 70s trailers were cheaply built compared to the 50s ones?
black n grey tanks? sorry to be a pest. don't know much about old trailers.
Be better with a bunk up top
Where can a man buy this delux
This one is long gone.
How munch
sold
Get that music off its really irritating and distracting.. Can't hear you
