As a new hades player (have played literally a day), chiron bow has been a love at first sight, and i can say that my love for this game as a whole has come from the hours of content I've consumed off of this channel waiting for an excuse to buy it for myself. Thanks for all the amazing stuff, game wouldnt feel the same without your influence

Zag bow left me with a sour taste first time, but then I saw chiron bow, and fell in love. (Then I discovered the gloves and how free they are with any aspect lol)

@@callmecrimson4806yeah I attempted too many escapes with a zag bow and couldn't beat the game. Until I used the spear with a flurry jab,but when I unlocked chiron fell in love with the bow again and ended up unlocking all the bow aspects. Chiron is my best weapon.
There should really be a trinket that lets you start with Daedalus Hammer. Would allow for more builds.

Wouldn't even be OP I think. For general runs you usually see a hammer in the first 2-3 minutes anyway and a hammer is a hammer. (vs guaranteeing a god you might not otherwise see at all). It would be good for experimenting with hammer effects or for a build like this that depends on one specific hammer effect but probably less generally useful than any of the god trinkets. But it would be fun, what I mean is it's not OP so I would see no reason it wouldn't be a fun trinket to add

If you're on PC, there's a mod that can find the correct random seed to guarantee a certain first boon or hammer upgrade. Everything after that is still random so it's not really cheating IMO.
Probably my favourite type of Hades video you post Haelian. Really enjoy seeing the under-utilised builds and how they can become really powerful with the right choices and a bit of luck too!

Won a 2 heat clear with no upgrade Zag bow. Aphrodite attack, Zeus everything else, twin shot and a lot of determination. Won with 10 HP left from the 250 I started the fight with.

Heart Rend + Deadly Reversal on Hestia rail is filthy. Finally got my first 32-heat clear today using it!
Went for these first:
Aphro Attack
Athena Spec
Artemis Cast
Then Athena dash for the proc for deadly reversal.
With some chaos boons and poms, got a few 3k crits :)

Parting shot absolutely reads as if casts automatically count as backstabs with bonus damage.
The thing about builds like this is that they are so different from what you usually are going for. You have to start with charged volley to even consider going for it.
And you have to turn down a clearly superior bow choice...Chiron.

the very first time I picked up the bow, I got Charged Volley and I immediately liked the bow more just because of it. the run still went poorly, especially because it was like my 9th run but it was so much fun
damn that’s a super lucky run considering the 2 pretty good chaos boons + 2 duo boons. Really fun to watch too
the conversation around parting shot was really strange to me. When I read the boon it seems very straight forward. Your cast gains the ability to backstab and that includes any bonuses you currently have for "backstab" and on top of that you gain an additional 35%. That's how I've always read it?
They didn't actually say your cast _gains the ability to_ backstab, they said it _gains bonuses_ for backstabbing. Which to me would imply that any time you hit an enemy with your cast from any angle, it'll increase the damage based on shadow presence, shadow slash, exposed status, etc. And the bonus backstab damage part also isn't very specific since the boon appears to be mostly about the cast, so it's easy to assume that that last bonus is also only tacked onto the cast. You can get the duo in a variety of build situations, and it's often not helpful at all as written, so reading it differently might make it more appealing when people are trying to convince themselves to grab the green.
@@harrisonlorens3585 Saying something along the lines of "if you don't get exactly what they meant it's because you're stupid" is just not very nice to basically anyone. (This could also be read as a direct insult to me, but that doesn't bother me so much, just don't be mean in general.)

I get the dev's perspective on this. Duo boons normally work in a way where they give you some stat bonus and they change some function of something. The change is always in text on the top and the stat bonus is on the bottom. I guess it's a little confusing, but I think it fits the format just fine.

Just finished my 50th run and finally beat hades with all six weapons.
I had to google a build for the bow cuz I was struggling and heard of Chiron a lot but the description of Chiron in the game does not sell me on it.
Maybe I should experiment with it. Hera bow just seemed better prolly cuz I like the casts lol
Hera is definitely better for damage, but he's saying Chiron is _safer_ because you can special from really far away and be guaranteed of all your arrows hitting. It's still not particularly good unless you put some kind of stacking effect on the special or increase its damage somehow, otherwise all the special arrows put together still don't do as much damage as one attack
I didn't expect this hammer to look so fun.
Any bonuses you have will also apply to your cast when you backstab with said cast

Wow, i never imagined using Hera this way. I tried to do the same as you and ended up having the same hammers AND héroic spécial (147%), 2 chaos specials (65% and 68%), and even found Chimaera Jerky special (40%). I didn't get Sweet Surrender and Blinding Flash, but i got Heart Rend and man, the damage output was insane, never saw anything like this ^^'

At 14:54 you referenced that you cannot backstab Lernie. I did not know that lol. It occurred to me then that I would adore a "50 Amazing Facts to Blow Your Mind" Matthew Santoro-style Hades video from you. Fifty useful little tips that are otherwise hard to find.
I.e, pressing up on the D-pad once to properly summon Meg when fighting Theseus and Asterius. The moment I heard you reference that it revolutionized by speedruns. Fifty of those facts would be insane lol.

17:00 i assume it gives more backstab damage because you mighy have fiery presence on for whatever reason (really good on hestia tbh) so you might not have any backstab bonuses if you got parting shot

I feel like just saying, "Your cast can now backstab" would be a simple way to solve all the confusion around parting shot.
I thought the description was extremely simple. Your cast now gets all backstab bonuses you have. Then you also get 35% more backstab bonus. There is nothing else hidden to it, players just insert their own opinions for no reason.
How do you get the in game boon list? I'm already deep in the game and still haven't gotten it.

Achilles gives you the Codex early in the game but there's a specific Contractor Upgrade that shows you boons and duos/legendaries/tier 2 prerequisites. Contractor has a lot of useful upgrades, buy as many of those as possible IMO
@justarandomdood I already have the codex I just can't find the contractor upgrade. Like I said I'm already almost done with the story.

You need to buy "Codex Index", but the prerequisite for that is owning the "Fated List of Minor Prophecies"
The prereq for Prophecies is buying "Fountain Chamber, Tartarus"
There's no prereq for the Fountain Chamber and it's even free, so you should have no trouble getting that if you don't already have it

I also didn't understand if you only gain the bonus on parting shot from a backstab, or if you don't need to backstab to gain the bonus. The text looks clear and then you read it again...
The devs really fucked the parting shot description. I never knew the bonus your cast gained ONLY applied to the cast backstab damage. That is very unclear.
“Your casts backstab damage gains any bonuses you have for striking foes from behind.

There, I fixed it for them, and it was not hard. (If that is in fact how it works)
I don't think that fixed it, you just added to the salad. The fact that your cast can't backstab to begin with, and that this boon changes that, is the crucial part. The single word you could change that would make the biggest difference would be "for" --> "when" i.e. "Your cast gains any [backstab] bonuses you have WHEN striking foes from behind."

@@RockLobsta23 Yeah that was one of the things he and/or chat members mentioned in the video. It kind of makes sense that they wouldn't be able to normally, but it's a little weird that the main mechanical function of this boon is to make it so they do now. Making all casts do backstab damage from any angle probably would have fit the theme more, like an emotional blow from a departing spurned lover or something. Maybe would have been too overpowered though idk

God people get so good at this game, I'm like right at thirty runs and I still haven't beat Hades Yet, So much fast movement! I'll get there.
