Very creative way to further utilize mapping as a medium to share all kinds of stories! Which reminds me of a certain highly-regarded HOI4 mod------so a suggestion, maybe you could try to capture the story of Equestria at War's 'Great War' as a mapping video (Equus continent only, "historical path" is a good place to start I think). The storytelling in EaW is one of the mod's many strengths, and anyone who hasn't given the mod a chance should definitely give it a shot, I'm glad I did anyway (I played as the Changelings in my first playthrough).
The Catastrophe: Military: The militaries of the Napoleonic times were unprepared for this style of war. Hordes upon hordes of zombies came crashing down from every front, encircling any single armies sent. The Armies of Europe quickly had to be split and put across a whole front line, and instead of this war being one of a single battle, it became a war of thousands across a massive front. Generals have to rework their entire understanding of warfare in order to adapt, allowing for a stark increase of zombie numbers. Eventually, however, a combination of trench tactics, defense in depth, and massive increases in artillery allowed for the holding or delaying of Zombie advancements, especially along chokepoints. Culture: Instability reigns supreme in this new Europe. Millions of refugees had come barrelling down into the "safe" parts of Europe, or abroad to America. Xenophobia gradually grew within these countries, and restrictions on immigration were tightened. To all in Europe, it seemed as if the armies of Lucifer himself had come down to conquer the planet. Zombies were disgusting creatures, and thrived off of all things that religion had taught these Victorians to despise. Religious fanaticism flares up across Europe, with the hard times of the disaster and the disaster itself causing some to become religious. However, there are many who view the collapse of half of Europe, and consequently, the deaths of their family in a mere year nihilisticly. Many are left frozen in grief, and spiritually perish.

A few holes, but wonderful! A: The war goes on as normal for a full year before the blight is even noticed. B: by the time any in-game battle takes place, the Ottomans have already fallen because they weren’t Christian, yes that’s real. C: The blight inhabits sparse countryside, it can be held off by troops in the cities, this is how it got to so many places at once. D: Europe only United after the siege at Leizpig

The statement that Builderman and the devs originally made regarding this was intended to get people to quit asking for the Ottoman Empire to be implemented in-game, as the devs have no intentions of adding the Ottomans for a number of reasons. (Such as the fact that they were not involved in any Napoleonic Conflicts between 1812-1815). No country is ever fully destroyed, there are plenty of unaffected villages in Russia, Denmark, and other affected nations that are believed to be "overrun."

surely the zombies didnt just walk all the way up to vardø. my theory is that russian refugees unwittingly spread the blight to northern russian ports, like arkhangelsk or murmansk, before fleeing again by sail and (perhaps) crashing on the island of vardø (as evidenced by the crashed ship on the earlier coast section) claiming most of the troops stationed at the fort. as to why theyd have so many soldiers, much less civilians, up there, is simply beyond mez

Fast forward to 21st century:
Very creative way to further utilize mapping as a medium to share all kinds of stories!
Which reminds me of a certain highly-regarded HOI4 mod------so a suggestion, maybe you could try to capture the story of Equestria at War's 'Great War' as a mapping video (Equus continent only, "historical path" is a good place to start I think).
The storytelling in EaW is one of the mod's many strengths, and anyone who hasn't given the mod a chance should definitely give it a shot, I'm glad I did anyway (I played as the Changelings in my first playthrough).
The Catastrophe:
Military:
The militaries of the Napoleonic times were unprepared for this style of war.
Culture:
Instability reigns supreme in this new Europe.

Hey - just curious, maybe i'm wrong but, i thought that the zombies started as soldiers who rise up from the dead in russian invasion because hell was full, but in your video it says virus - and not very close to the frontlines either, i know that it becomes a virus that spreads from those who rise but maybe i'm wrong about that - cool video!

@@Italian_Mapper in the lore though they are from more religious reasons not from a disease

From what I heard, the blight was originally a virus until the burning of Moscow. Don’t know the validity of that though
the lore does not say that hell is full. that's from a book where the lore is inspired from.

There are a few inaccuracies with this map, but it's still pretty well made. The largest inaccuracies would be with map order and dates, but otherwise the spread of the infection is mostly the same
Why did the zombies just roll over the Austrians and Prussians? They were Great Powers after all.
idk i followed the lore but there's only so much you can do when zombies randomly appear out of nowhere
@@Italian_MapperI wouldn't say all of the Austrian Empire has fallen, they're just badly affected. Same with Prussia as Berlin and Koenigsburg have fallen according to the lore
despite being a great power at the time, they are not facing normal enemies, they are already dead and proliferating very quickly.
the infection was basically right at their doorstep.
also i agree that austria probably hasn’t fallen. if it took the blight until like 1815 to get to paris then i doubt they would reach budapest until maybe like mid-late 1815 at least or early 1816 at best if austria is able to put up a decent fight.

D is incorect european powers already signed a ceasefires
And yes europe only allied itself after leibzig

@@keelseaemsaguilar7013yeah the ottoman empire didn't do anything in Napoleonic Wars other than russo-ottoman war
@@someguyontheinternet8282A number of developers have made joke statements that have been taken as genuine, and a number of theories have appeared that have been taken as factual. This section is intended to clear up a number of misconceptions regarding the game lore. The following are misconceptions which are not true about the game lore.
The Ottoman Empire collapsed.
It's honestly astonishing how the spread of the blight had just really tore Europe asunder, let's just hope that America, and Great Britain stays safe, just for a fighting chance at rounding up enough people to liberate europe or try and get civilization back to normal at the very least.
Ofc it started close to Moldavia
surely the zombies didnt just walk all the way up to vardø. my theory is that russian refugees unwittingly spread the blight to northern russian ports, like arkhangelsk or murmansk, before fleeing again by sail and (perhaps) crashing on the island of vardø (as evidenced by the crashed ship on the earlier coast section) claiming most of the troops stationed at the fort. as to why theyd have so many soldiers, much less civilians, up there, is simply beyond mez
