I started racing in 1980 12 years old, never lookedback was 21 and then that real life started to happen and got out of racing, i’m 54 years old and miss it ,like I quit yesterday, once it’s in your blood always in your blood, The type of racing that’s happening today not too sure about it, just want to thank all the people that help me through all the years, Hell yeah Bmx for ever
I started on a diamond back, I had many cool bikes, my brother and I had a weekly paper route,in the early years,Jmc, DG Hutch,GT, my last race bike was a Patterson Racing, 24” cruiser, I recently built a 1984 redline, and many thrasher bikes over the years
@kevin It's not too late. I just purchased a late-model BMX bike and planned on just rolling around the track. No jumping, not trying to be first, just get out of the house and have some fun. I could race the 1984 FreeAgent, but it needs a lot of work, and I would like to fix it and display it instead.
I started Racing BMX when I was 4 years old in the early 70's, raced until 91' out of Vacaville CA. then moved back to Napa Ca. So did the whole Vallejo P.A.L. BMX, Fremont, Napa track, Stockton, Sacramento tracks etc...
Now, this is how I remember BMX racing. Hairpin and S turns, sharp berms, and loose dirt. Not the smooth track with long sweeping turns & rolling whoops like today.
This comment 😭❤️ Here's to long days in the sun, sharing the pop and water bottles, trips to the nearest food store to rush back to the trails and the ride home at night. Bikes we ride ♥️
What a wonderful document. From when the world was the world. On the one hand, it makes me very happy to see it and, on the other hand, very sad because these are times that will not return. I would give anything to return to this time where things were done differently way and the word happiness had meaning. Peace and Health for all 🙂🙏
I gotta try and find my BMX I had as a kid. Im 50. This video has sealed the deal. I will try to track down the exact model and color of my bike but won't be easy. Its from like 1987.

i from philipines i started bmx 79 i was 16 then i race in 83 we only have few race track and far from our places. i made my own ramp now im 60 years old and still love to bike
This footage was fantastic. What character the old tracks had. The modern course is too cultivated, with asphalt turns the bikes don’t even have knobby dirt tires. It’s too bland, they need to incorporate some of the good old school raw dirt riding.

Old-school BMX racing and forever young in the background.... Perfect!!!
ahhh, the 70s, a great decade to be a teenager, and even greater if you raced BMX!
I tell people I had the best childhood.
Raced bmx, raced motocross through the 70s.
I now mountain bike quite a bit, but miss racing.
When life was easy. Just riding all day with friends. Or strangers who became friends 🤟🏻

Awesome!!! Good ole days! Yes I used to sport Mongoose and GT bikes hence my name…
If bmx racing stayed like that I would’ve been all over it, that’s awesome stuff!
The absolute best of times.
The style of track looks so different from todays bmx track. It looked to have more similarity with a 4x track! Looks like heaps of fun.
¡¡¡Excelente video!!! Emotivo para los de la generación X 😌💕🚲✊👍
Dang. Bmx has really evolved. These people are insane
Haahaa ! looks fun though ... semi downhill racing
