I have several pump tracks in my community but I have only visited them once. I am also a skateboarder and I know how to pump transitions so I was like a duck to water! I am really a MTB'er but I apply the same principals to my riding. It is just instinct to "Pump the transition" on everything. I think these cross discipline are very intriguing and hope to see more content along these lines. There is burred treasure here just ripe for the mining Blake! Cheers - M
Last time I raced a BMX was 30 yrs ago with other kids, pure savagery, I also learned 80% of what I know on a bike then... Invaluable experience... I now have a Haro citizen but I don't race it, just for fun 😅
Can't beat BMX for that 40 second explosive adrenaline rush. The tracks have changed so so much to the mud lime stone that we used to race on in the 80s but the buzz is the same! Well done Blake. Fantastic effort! 👍
Ha yeah we raced on one “track” in the 80’s that had just a couple of bumps, the berms were flat and the start “gate” was a guy holding a long rubber band and letting go was the gate dropping.😂 Not much to it but you still wanted to win’
Did anyone give you a hard time? Calling you a sandbagger etc? I had a horrible experience, well my daughter did. She races (cat-1)dh. Won the state champs and had a horrible accident. Brain injury. Was off her bike for almost 7 months. Thank god she’s ok. But when the time was right she wanted to ease back into racing and did a few small local races racing cat-2(went down a class for obvious reasons ) and the parents mostly were the ones giving a 14 year old girl a hard time. Name calling etc. It bothered/hurt her so bad she she didn’t race the final and we left. 3 years later she’s back to normal racing elite now and finished 3 in state and 6th in nationals.
Sorry for your daughters experience in DH, but no, we don’t roll like that in BMX. Everyone has a good time, great banter on and off the track, young and old, everyone is welcome, nobody is judged. Have fun, ride, laugh.
Sorry to hear about your daughter's experience! Some people can be pretty thoughtless when it comes to competitive events! Hope those parents were called out on their behaviour. Great to hear she's back to the sharp end and enjoying it again now though!
Well done Blake! You give me inspiration for my up coming first BMX race. When I was a kid I wanted to race but it never happened. Now at the age of 54 I have decided to go full in and see what happens. Great show Bro and I hope to see more of this content. Your the bollocks mate! - M
Unfortunately, my racing finished before it even started after a horrible crash. I just have to watch/support my kids, but I'm so jealous of the older riders able to race. I still take my bike down the track, but it's low risk riding now.
Well, Blake's an ex-racer and he still got that attitude. See him putting in the discipline to master the BMX techniques, massive respect for doing this. Wonderful 2 vids (practice the 1st)!
Would love to see more of this from Blake! It would be cool to see a bit of street or park BMX on the channel as well. Would be really fun to see a BMX presenter Game of BIKE at a skatepark with freecoasters and pegs. Really put them out of their element lol. Its different for sure. But if you already have a lot of bike skill you can figure it out and make the transition from MTB to BMX or vice versa.
ha haaa.. i was absolutely on the edge of my seat watching this! man that looked like fun… congrats dude.. you smashed it..more of that content pretty please!
Amazing work Mr S!! Takes me back nearly 40 years, when I was a lad!! Loved it so much, but the tech, the track surface everything is so much better than it used to be !! Definitely need to see the other boys give it some beans!!
Dude! That was a proper first time out! Most outstanding! I’ve been racing BMX since the 80s and it’s awesome to see someone come from the MTB world and embrace our sport.. You’ve definitely got the bike handling skills necessary, you just need to work on a few fundamentals and you’ll be crushing it! Well done, Mate!
Yes is clearly the answer. I switched from casual MTB to BMX a couple of years ago at the age of 55 and started racing after a month or so training. It is a hugely rewarding and exciting sport where you get to ride for and be part of a team. I have to say though it's hard on the body! I've just stopped racing due to sore knees and other crash related injuries. I have a DJ bike on order and will be switching to just having fun on the track instead for a while.
Awesome job Blake, great results. I never actually raced, except for a bit of fun against my mates but riding BMX tracks and mountain biking in general with much more experienced and skilled riders definitely will show you a lot. I just like the smooth flow of a good BMX track.
This was great content. Outstanding effort to finish on the podium, Blake. I'd like to see Blake do this again vs Rich to see if more MTBs can make the transition to BMX. Thanks GMBN.
Regularly take my 10yr old son to the local bmx track for some pump sessions. We are about to buy him a bmx bike so he can do some coaching sessions and some club racing. Hopefully that will help with his bike control and some other bike skills. He wants to race down hill and maybe some enduro but mostly down hill.
Good to see bmx racing on the channel. You have some skills Blake. Looks like you enjoyed it. Gate technique will come and hope you have the bug for more. 👍🏻
Blake is just great fun all around. Truly a dude I'd want to go riding with and drink something afterwards with. As always, thanks for the entertainment GMBN & Mr. Samson!
Started BMX in the 80's but ended up giving it up(joint troubles). Then I got into sport bike racing and that got too expensive... now I just trail ride my MTB and commute on a Zero(E-Motorcycle). I don't seem to be happy unless I have two wheels under me at all times. :)
Hey Blake, you inspired me to build a bike from scratch in my garage also. I'd love to share some pictures. Is there an email I can send to? Thanks for all the awesome videos
There is no such thing as “flatland BMX” it’s just Flatland or freestyle. BMX is racing, freestylers have been wanting to call what they do as BMX also, but it’s not. Would you try a BMX race? When was the last time you went to a pump track or BMX track? Let us know in the comments! 👇
I already ride BMX I need to try MTB

Yes, never, and i want to... would be fun!

I now have a Haro citizen but I don't race it, just for fun 😅
there are only a few pump tracks in Germany.. and all of them would probably fit inside that one giant corner of the track shown in the video..
Blake will be starting GBMXN soon. Can't wait! 😉
Blake did very, very well indeed! Congratulations!

If anything when someone call you a sandbagger I would take it as a compliment
Utter bollocks
Hopefully you backhanded them

I started at 48 yrs old last year. It's been a blast!!
Unfortunately, my racing finished before it even started after a horrible crash. I just have to watch/support my kids, but I'm so jealous of the older riders able to race. I still take my bike down the track, but it's low risk riding now.
Blake great effort mate that was a huge result,Loved watching you battle it out.Youve definately got what it takes
I think we'll see more of Blake on a BMX soon!
This brilliant! Please more BMX and well done Blake! Still need to race myself, got the bike and now need to start again.
Do it! Let us know how you get on 🤘
@@gmbn will do 😎
BMX Blake. Would be cool if you made this into a series & see how far you could progress. I for one would enjoy it.
Well, Blake's an ex-racer and he still got that attitude. See him putting in the discipline to master the BMX techniques, massive respect for doing this. Wonderful 2 vids (practice the 1st)!
You killed it! The simple enthusiasm for all things bike, shines through all the technical stuff. Hope you had a beer or two after this 🤙
Yes, Blake! Congrats on the podium! Your base-level skill at just about everything is an inspiration!
Good to see bmx get some notice!
Best sport and a good time to get into it for the summer series 😅
Exactly that! We love watching bike sports at the Olympics so we're getting in the mood nice and early
BMX racing is an insanely fun sport to both ride and watch. Great job, Blake!
Would love to see more of this from Blake! It would be cool to see a bit of street or park BMX on the channel as well.

Glad to see Blake killing it and enjoying it!!
Raced NBL in the States as an adult, along with my son. What a blast. Knee injury at 50 ended my BMXing.
Well done! Thiswas so cool to watch, cool to go outside the mtb box!
Thinking about getting back into the sport since having my first kid. BMX is great for the whole family! I would love more BMX content!
That was so awesome! Thank you GMBN! Still a HUGE FAN! Great content, editing, music ... exciting to watch. Good on ya mates.
ha haaa.. i was absolutely on the edge of my seat watching this! man that looked like fun… congrats dude.. you smashed it..more of that content pretty please!
Guys, the sound track is getting better and better with each video. Love it!
Blake is so competitive! Didn't get the best start, made mistakes, but never gave up. More of this please
Amazing work Mr S!! Takes me back nearly 40 years, when I was a lad!! Loved it so much, but the tech, the track surface everything is so much better than it used to be

Well done Blake. That looked like fun, knackering fun.
Really hope you keep making videos on bmx racing! best sport out there
Best gmbn vid I've watched in ages see the excitement in Blake's face
Way to go Blake! I really enjoy your competitive spirit! Thanks for giving such a great effort!
Bing Bong BMX 😂 Well done Blake, that was a brilliant effort and 3rd place 🥉 👊🤘❤️🌈🕊️🌍
That was so good Blake. Well done!

This was great content. Outstanding effort to finish on the podium, Blake. I'd like to see Blake do this again vs Rich to see if more MTBs can make the transition to BMX. Thanks GMBN.
This was awesome - you should do a comparison on 20 v 24 v 26 to compare the same rider across the diff size bikes you can race

My son also just raced the kids worx at crankworx rotorua and loved every second of it for his first ever mtb race
My son and I just started BMX racing. It's a lot of fun and good exercise.
Where it all started for me, on a GT BMX in the mid 90's 🤟
The GT we had was great, are you still riding BMX?
@@gmbn yip, still riding BMX but also do roadcycling and MTB. All on GT's 🤟
Good to see bmx racing on the channel. You have some skills Blake. Looks like you enjoyed it. Gate technique will come and hope you have the bug for more. 👍🏻
You did so well! BMX is absolutely a different kind of fitness.
From Blake's sporting history: Bicycling techniques + Rugby sprints= BMX? Good going! 😄😄😄
Great work Blake 😊
Your fun attitude was infectious on this one!
Brilliant film and so well done Blake 💪
Just keep being you, Blake. Love it!
When you started with the manual you won some extra meters against the other racers. Well done 🤙🏼
I love bmx for the fact it's definitely a family type sport as children threw adults get to race and families and friends hang out and have a fun day
Blake is incredible, anything with 2 wheels he just seems to nail it ❤
That was fantastic. 1st timer? Bandit! 😂 Get the starts and the turns, you'll be on the top step. Well done Blakey 👍👍👊👊
Fair play Blake for an old timer at the sport you still have a lot of explosive power 😉
What's the power output of a BMX race look like? Obviously track dependant but looks like 3-5 5 second max power efforts?
Massive. Elite riders are hitting 2000W+. A lot of track sprinters started in BMX.
You guys listen to some seriously good liquid DnB mad respect BOH!
You all thru some tech step in there too. Boh boh boh!
Great effort. Both of my kids race BMX and it can be a crash fest, so Blake did well to keep it upright.
This was awesome! More BMX and Blake you did great!
Blake is just great fun all around. Truly a dude I'd want to go riding with and drink something afterwards with. As always, thanks for the entertainment GMBN & Mr. Samson!
Thanks for watching!
I just started BMX racing last year at 48 yrs young. Balancing at the gate is the hardest part for me. We run a different race format in the US.
Very cool 😎. Blake certainly seemed to be grinning ear to ear!
Started BMX in the 80's but ended up giving it up(joint troubles). Then I got into sport bike racing and that got too expensive... now I just trail ride my MTB and commute on a Zero(E-Motorcycle). I don't seem to be happy unless I have two wheels under me at all times. :)
That was pretty good to watch. Nice one Blake.
awesome! nice one blake!
You made me dust off my old BMX bike and give it a bit of a tune up to go to the local track soon 😁
Love it need more bmx in the videos guys
Cycle Speedway is next to try as that's along the same lines just no berms and table tops :).
Oh man, thanks for that race Blake. I would give it a go if I was not so bloody old.
There's always categories for all ages at most races, You should definitely give it a go 🤘
Awesome job Blake you did really well dude👍
Another challenge for Blake is to take part to the Epic Enduro. The race just took part last week-end and it's way harder than Megavalanche or the MOH
If you've raced BMX, you know this is not easy. Respect! And everybody racing clean, according to their age 🙂
Bmx Blake was fun to watch.
Well done Blake, mega job 💪
Smashed it! Hes blake sampson!
The boy is proper buzzing, nice
Make more bmx videos, they are so good 💪💪
I know the turns are asphalt. What is the rest of the track surfaced with?
Arrrrh you messed up on that burn but you did so well Blake awesome dude your a powerhouse 👍🤛🤛🤛
Berm
@@loomspace haha yeah berm...🤛
@@helicopter12345678Sorry, compulsive 😂 🤙
So awesome 🤘it’s funny I’m a bmxican on this channel doing something different
Well done Blake !
From my son: “Wht didn’t he show the podium?!!” 😂. Well done big guy 👍🏻
bad cornering, but a hell of pumping. But i have the feeling, first is easier to improve.
Now it's time to put yourself in the next proficiency class. Great job!
I was always fine when I was out there by myself, but I always backed off when I couldn't hold the line I wanted. I was always shit at actual races.
can you guys try some bmx pedals on mtb
Hey Blake, you inspired me to build a bike from scratch in my garage also. I'd love to share some pictures. Is there an email I can send to? Thanks for all the awesome videos
Wow Blake respect!
I saw the sprint Blake did on GCN. He's got BMX down lol
Awesome Blake.
Very interesting story to watch
Hell yeah Blake!
Love Blake Sampson
I would like to see how far you can progress in a season.
Blake is the guy you want to share a beer with!
Makes me sad about Whittier BMX's demise
that was in fact impressive :)
What about Blake does TT’s I rekon he’d enjoy the power and speed! Ooh and flatland bmx?!
There is no such thing as “flatland BMX” it’s just Flatland or freestyle. BMX is racing, freestylers have been wanting to call what they do as BMX also, but it’s not. My idol Blake congratulations from Philippines 🙏🏻🫰
Nice one blake
Bmx is where it’s at! Miss the racing, just not the politics.
We want gcn dudes next to race BMX! Hank n Ollie 😂
