Helen, Thank you so much for thinking about us Vegans/vegetarians! You are always making great recipes for us!! Thank you! Hugs from Los Angeles, California
I've always been looking for authentic vegan vietnamese recipes and you are truly the answer of my questions, Helen! I love, love, love your vegan versions of yummy vietnamese food. Please keep on doing your fantastic work! :)
That actually looks good for a vegetarian dish. LOL! Very healthy and refreshing, I bet. BTW, I watched the short video on the hand-made items for your new online store and it's amazing work! I cannot believe there are people out there able to to write/draw that perfectly on fabric. Amazing work from those people Very professionally done and I like all the personal touches with the labels, etc. The amount of time you put into it really shows. I assume the aprons and wearables are washable, correct?
Hey Helen! I love that you post vegan recipes! I find your omnivore recipes always translate well anyways. This question may be off topic but how do you shred or julienne your vegetables? You have beautifully julienned carrots in some of your videos and I'd love you to make a video on your techniques and favourite kitchen tools. Thanks!
Lesley Victoria I have a shredder but sometimes also julienne myself. You can watch my videos to see how, like this one How to make Vietnamese Sandwich - Bánh mì thịt nguội
In the U.S. we call this consistency a "stew" which is thicker and chunkier than a soup or sauce. Sauce is more smooth. :) Thanks for the wonderful videos Helen, I can't wait to grow my own turmeric and give this a try.
Chị ơi, Lúc mà chị nấu phần khối su và bí đỏ mềm rồi thì chị lấy hết ra tán nhuyễn. Hay là chỉ tán một nửa rồi để lại một nửa khối su và bí đỏ trong nồi rồi mới thêm phần hạt lựu vô ạ?

I'm pretty sure hành lá is green onion/scallions not leek. Leek is the bigger tough version of green onions. but you make me miss my mama's food T_T She's been in Vietnam for the last 3 months. Your video has helped me make some of the foods I'm missing lol
Helen's Recipes (Vietnamese Food) Please look up pictures of 'spring onion'. Leek is a completely different vegetable and even when it's a small leek, it never has round leaves with a hole inside. The leaves of leek are always flat.

Hi, Helen! I am Chinese and am not used to Vietnamese cooking very much. Do Vietnamese dishes always have so many ingredients?
Yeah. Not always but usually. We prefer taste diversity in a dish: a little bit of salty, sour, sweet, spicy taste.
Congratulations!!
Thanks a lot :)
ngon quá chị ơi ! :D
mmmm delicious
what could you substitute for tarro if you can't get it where you live?
pickledshoe you can use potato
This time I will have to go next door and "borrow" a pumpkin from my neighbors.
I won't tell ;)
I don't think I have ever seen fresh straw mushrooms here in the states, even at Super H or DiHo Markets.
Yummy
Love your accent haha xoxo

Valerie Cao In Vietnam the leek is a lot thinner and smaller than in Western countries. Hành lá is even thinner than that ;)
