@samroozen6719 here in the uk we only had ONE OF US / SHOULD I LAUGH OR CRY & HEAD OVER HEELS / THE VISITORS released as singles.... WHEN ALL IS SAID AND DONE / SLIPPING THROUGH MY FINGERS would have made a perfect 3rd single release.
The album is the only time the US got it right! When All Is Said and Done and The Visitors were the single releases. Historically, in the US, Atlantic Records failed them.
The line, “it’s so strange, when you’re down, and lying on their floor, how you rise, shake your head, get up and aak for more” is personally very inspirational for me. The one line has empowered me at several points in my life. I grew up with this being my favorite ABBA song, I was very young when it came out, and it never achieved the popularity I have always felt it deserved.. it makes me so very happy to see the younger generation enjoying it. But that one line is LIFE to me.
Frida's voice is so beautiful in this song. It really shows the power of her voice. Angetha's harmonies completes the magic of this song. "The Winner Takes It All" was Bjorn and Agnetha's break-up song. "When All Is Said and Done" was Benny and Frida's break-up song.
I am too old now to ever meet her, but at 73, it would still be the greatest moment to meet Frida. She is the most beautiful and talented female singer I have ever seen.
How can you find this dark? This is serene compared to the bitter The Winner Takes It All or the sad Knowing Me Knowing You. "Thanks for all your generous love." If only all breakups could be like this.
Frida rocks! In my opinion she has the most perfect and powerful voice! Please react to her 1982 solo smash hit "I know there´s something going on" - produced by Phil Collins! It really shows the range of her voice!

Such a powerful sad song that is such an emotional journey and gets me every time I hear it ……. Love it but such a sad song too ….. an amazing closure to the relationships 💔🥲🏴🥃🥃
Some of Frida's greatest solos on ABBA records include "Gonna Sing You My Love Song," "Tropical Loveland," "Money Money Money," "One Man One Woman," "The King Has Lost His Crown," "Andante Andante," and "You Owe Me One." You'll see the giant range of her voice if you check all of them out.
I've been waiting for your reaction on this song. This song is from 1981 but I discovered in 1995 at the time of my parents divorce. I don't know why this song was not a #1, is so 80s I love the synths, the music, Frida's voice and guess what ? They do have a Spanish version called " No Hay a Quien Culpar" with a video as well. Keep reacting on ABBA. The 1980's brought their best music I think.
Well Dereck, this was a wonderful song choice for sure. It's one of my favourite Abba songs, and it is without doubt a masterpiece of music, lyrics and singing. You said that you "love it, love it, love" and you're right to say that. But you didn't give it the DR seal of approval. Can we have a rethink or an appeal please?
I was 10 and if I had known this song I would have liked it and would have had those memories of back then whenever I heard it today. Classic abba early 80s sound.
This is totally the saddest song they ever made in my opinion. Frida is a vocal gigant as showed 1000% in "Put On Your White Sombrero" "Andante Andante", "The King has lost his crown" (no videos) Money, money, money, "One man,one woman" and many more! You should check them out!
@@resireg That's an interesting interpretation. I always took it as being cold or feeling that autumn chill as the whole album has sort of a dark November day feel to it.
@@Mark-zu6oz maybe both. Normally someone who is unconfortable cross its arms, normally without realizing it. Normally singers wave their hands, snap fingers. On the song " one of us". Frida and Benny have their hands in their pockets, another sign of introspecrion and sometimes shame
Dereck, excellent reaction - I love your ability to deconstruct and highlight each aspect that goes into making the song so great, easy to overlook when just listening without concentrating. This song was recorded only 1 month after Frida and Benny’s separation. Frida stated “all my sadness was captured in that song”, but what also comes through is her immense strength and resilience. The ability to sing such personal, emotive lyrics, present in so many of AꓭBA’s songs, shows how truly remarkable both Frida and Agnetha are ❤️
Hi Dereck, I love you reactions, because you analise the Video, the voices, the backing track and the instruments, the production, and you understand the music, that's ABBA, they are perfect in every detail, they worked on the songs sometimes for weeks or months to be perfect, and Frida's voice is amazing, Agnetha`s also ... Can't wait for the next ABBA - reaction, great Job Dereck👍
To this day, this is still my abbasolute favorite song of theirs. Now that I'm much older, the lyrics have A LOT more meaning! lol Thanks very much for posting this.
Great song - Frida’s lead is amazing - the harmonies are phenomenal- I always thought Abba looked really tired / worn out in this video- I think they were thinking about disbanding
As i said in the first video this song is about the pain of the divorce between Annifrid lyngstad and Benny Andersson they were engaged in 1971 but did not marry until the height of ABBA'S Success for some reason in 1980 it went on rocky grounds and they separated on 26 november 1980. Their divorce was settled in 1981
Frida has a great solo single called I Know There's Something Going On (1982) that I'm pretty sure you would love. Phil Collins produced and played those gated drums.
@Marvin Morawski Wow. That's impressive. I remember when that album was released, and then the single was released, and they played her song on the radio a lot,,,,, especially on more «rock» stations. And, at that time, «MTV» was only around for 1 year, and they played her video a lot too. And, MTV hated ABBA. They played Frida's video,,,, but they never played any video of Agnetha Fältskog,,,,, and «Can't Shake Loose» was a «Top 30» hit here in the U.S. (peaking at #29). I remember when Frida was interviewed live on MTV in 1982, in November, right before she turned 37 years old.
One of these great wonderful breakup songs. there was a b-side of the single called "Should i laugh or cry" with amazing lead vocals by Frida, also with sad lyrics. you should react to this too.
@@happyhawaii0711 😊I think that, out of all of ABBA's songs, "Happy Hawaii" is the best example of the beautiful harmony of Agnetha & Frida's voices coming together,,, without excessive over-production. The beauty of this song is in its simplicity. I give much credit to Bjorn & Benny's creativity,,,,, but the 2 "B's" in ABBA, would never have been a worldwide success without the 2 "A's", and their unique mixing of a true soprano (Agnetha), and a wonderful mezzo-soprano (Frida).🥰💓🎼🎶🎵🎤

Great song and should have been a UK single. Strong vocals and usual high quality production. You can hear and feel the sadness in the song which of course reflected their personal lives. ABBA really did have the Midas touch
Great great vocals from Frida. This was just after Benny the jerk dumped her. Did you know Frida was an accomplished seamstress and took design classes in Stockholm. She found the dress in this video at a thrift shop and altered and designed it to her liking. She sewed and designed clothes for the whole group especially for Agnetha when she was pregnant. She also designed the blue and gold cat dresses the girls wore several times. It had a long skirt attached with Velcro they could take off to reveal the shower short skirt. No limit to this lady's talents.
Still wondering where you get all these false information. The cat dresses were designed and hand-drawn by Owe Sandström, not by Frida. Frida only had the idea that there should be cats at the costumes after she saw a chinese lion figure.
These lyrics are some of the most profound lyrics that ABBA has ever written....they ring so true for anyone that's ever been in "That" relationship....the title just says it all before the song even starts...and the music just hits it home!
I always thought When All Is Said And Done was their last true great 'pop' song. Frida's live version of I Wonder from Sydney(not the studio version) is one to listen two. I Let The Music Speak another to feature Frida's vocals but no clip of that one.
@Marvin Morawski The album cut is boring. The live version on The Australian Tour is much better. Caveat, they had to do some dubs because the sound quality was poorish.
This is one of four songs towards the very end of their last time around that should have been huge global hits (the others being One of Us, The Visitors, The Day Before You Came). each are amazing songs, and achieved varying success but not nearly what each deserved. So happy that their current huge global success is like compensation for what should have been.
The song is about divorce or breaking up. You both come to a point where there's nothing else and you move on. I have always loved the line, "Standing calmly at the crossroads, no desire to run. There's no hurry anymore when all is said and done. " It reflects a point in life where you're still moving, but not in such a hurry, like you were in your younger days. Frida's voice conveys the bittersweetness of the song perfectly.
One of the best lyrics Björn ever wrote imo. With THE WINNER TAKES IT ALL of course. And the word “sex” being plainly used in a song was and still is quite rare. I really am enjoying your ABBA reactions. My top 3: the visitors, the day before you came + SOS. Followed by: Lay all your love on me + money, money, money.
"When All Is Said And Done" was a very apropos title for their final U.S. Top 40 hit. By this time, both couples had divorced. Just wanna give you couple songs you might want to review from Frida's (post-ABBA) solo career: "Shine" and "I Know There's Something Going On".👍🎼🎵🎶🎤🥁
Hey, Dereck! I have followed all your different video reactions, especially the ones you have done from ABBA and Madonna. I really love that you took the time to react to When All Is Said and Done because it is truly one of ABBA's best songs. A true masterpiece in every sense of the word. As you said in the video you have more preference towards Agnetha's voice and every opinion is respected. However, I truly recommend you to take time to listen ABBA songs with Frida on lead vocals because she gives a different atmosphere to the songs and I don't mean to put down Agnetha because her voice is also really beautiful, great and she can also hit her high notes and that's why their voices blended to perfection. Many ABBA songs that have Frida on lead vocals have not been released as singles but you can react to audios and some of these songs are: Andante, Andante, Our Last Summer, I Wonder (Departure), One Man One Woman, I Let the Music Speak, Cassandra and The King Lost His Crown, to mention a few. Also, her solo discography is quite interesting and eclectic, totally different to ABBA's sounds. Please also react to I Know There's Something Going On which is her biggest solo hit. It made it to #13 in the U.S. and #1 in Costa Rica (my country). Frida performed a solo version of Fernando in Swedish and this was actually the first release of Fernando. You have to hear it. Swedish is a beautiful language. Also, you can react to Shine, Tell Me That It's Over, Twist in the Dark, Baby Don't You Cry No More, Chemistry Tonight, etc. I know you love synths and dancey music. Many of the tracks from her Shine album are quite electronic and sounded ahead of its time. Please do explore more Frida. It's totally worth it.
Hi Derek and thank you for reacting to this fantastic song. This song deals with the separation between Frida & Benny and Frida looks so sad in all their videos from this period. The song is from their last album "The Visitors" wich imo is their best album. The titletrack is just amazing with Frida on lead. The song is called "The Visitors" but they did not make a video but you can react to the audio. Once again, thank you for great and intelligent reaction videos.
Frida was so great, and what a fool Benny was when he decided to leave her. He never found another woman evenhalf as great as Frida, but she continued to succeed and rise for another 49 years.
This isn't even on ABBA Gold, and it's arguably their best ever track. The only ABBA song I can think of where Frida really gets to let rip and show her powerful vocal range.
This is one of my favorite ABBA songs. It reminds me of "The Winner Takes It All" in the sense they are both about the end of a relationship. It's like "The Winner Takes It All" is told through Agnetha's perspective, and "When All Is Said and Done" is told from Frida's perspective (based only on which of the girls has the lead vocal part). The two songs sound totally different, but lyrically they are similar. I love your reactions, Dereck. It's so nice to see someone getting so excited about these amazing songs that were all popular before you were born. Here's the link to an Australian TV special from a couple of years ago that I think you might enjoy. Keep up the great reactions! th-cam.com/video/scAqopo093U/w-d-xo.html

ABBA's swansong. Well, almost. 'The Day Before You Came', was actually their last hit, but this song kind of made it apparent that they were moving on.
The Spanish version ‘No Hay A Quien Culpar’ has an interesting video. When they shot the lip syncing scenes months after, Frida had a dramatic new hair style. It’s amusing the first time you watch it!
If they'd released this instead of Head Over Heels, they'd have had a 20th top 10 hit in the UK. Its the best track on The Visitors so could've been the lead single with One Of Us as a 2nd single
I enjoyed your reaction! I would suggest you a different ABBA song called ‘Does Your Mother Know’ for your next video, with Björn (one of the 2 men) taking the lead for once. It’s a perfect pop rock danceable track and it has an official video. As for a song with Frida singing lead vocals, I think you still haven't reacted to 'Money, Money, Money' which is one of their biggest hits so I would suggest it too!
This is Frida's the winner takes it all

I love both voices but for different reasons. They both have their strengths.
" I WONDER (DEPARTURE ) " ..... no video but a tremendous song. Frida is the vocalist on this
Sopran ,Mezzosopran einfach fantastisch! Ich liebe es!!😘😘😘😘😘😘
My fave ABBA song
Hi Derek and thank you for reacting to this fantastic song. This song deals with the separation between Frida & Benny and Frida looks so sad in all their videos from this period. The song is from their last album "The Visitors" wich imo is their best album. The titletrack is just amazing with Frida on lead. The song is called "The Visitors" but they did not make a video but you can react to the audio. Once again, thank you for great and intelligent reaction videos.
THANKKK UUUUU!!!
Frida was so great, and what a fool Benny was when he decided to leave her. He never found another woman evenhalf as great as Frida, but
she continued to succeed and rise for another 49 years.
And became a real-life princess in the process!
One of the most Fridas’s performaces
I love that you love one of my favourite songs
This song is so true. So emotional.
This isn't even on ABBA Gold, and it's arguably their best ever track. The only ABBA song I can think of where Frida really gets to let rip and show her powerful vocal range.
What about I Let The Music Speak? Or Put On Your White Sombrero? I think they also have really powerful vocals by Frida.
Sounds like her farewell to Benny

This song is about Frida and Benny’s divorce. That’s why it’s so sad.
I'm very glad your enjoy ABBA's songs. As one of their biggest ABBA fan, please react to my favorite song from them "Take A Chance On Me". I love it very much. 😃
ABBA's swansong. Well, almost. 'The Day Before You Came', was actually their last hit, but this song kind of made it apparent that they were moving on.
Under Attack was their last wide release single.
There's a recording of andante andante from 2018, she still sounds great,( Anna frid)
Dereck-This is one of Frida's many shining moments. It's her singing about her and Benny's divorce. (The bearded guy).
Check out One man,one woman with ABBA please...great,great song...like this one...
I wonder is another super song to try. and Like an Angel passing through my room, Move on,
Still My absolute favourite Song, now followed by Don‘t shut me down!!
One of us is the best of ABBA in my opinion...
I like that song because when Agnetha enters, her voice does not harmonize, so I listen her on my left ear and Frida on my right one
@Marvin Morawski in "I am the city" we have them both interchanging, so it is hard to know when is one or the other
¡Gracias Derek ! Gracias por se "amante " de Abba
