2:55, Most People would often refer to Josie & The Pussycats, JabberJaw, Speed-Buggy, Captain Caveman & The Teen Angels, The Funky Phantom, Goober & The Ghost Chasers and many more as "Scooby-Doo Clones" rather than calling them "Scooby-Doo Rip-Offs".
I would love to see a violent mature cartoon of The Super Friends with fairytales and book themes. Like heck, imagine Batman kicking Willy Wonka in the face.
Well in that time they help to make animated movie and tv series of Lucky luke and the daltons on the loose (which was a compilation of three episodes of the series with some new animated scene that are different from these three episodes)
Lucky we have the Internet to rely on as a soapbox to ramble about them. Now that I mention it, it seems like people are starting to take notice and are encouraging parents to never fear that disciplining kids will scare them shitless, because I unfortunately felt that way when I had to go through those experiences as a kid!
You know what is the worst some parents expect the government to raise them instead of raising their kids on their own parents have become so lazy that whenever a school shooting happens the government and the parents blame the entertainment industry instead of themselves like they are looking for a scapegoat for their own problems and acting like they are being proud parents
For me, "Scooby-Doo On Zombie Island" saved the characters' popularity. It still had the humor of the original show, but was 20000x scarier (the first HB show/film/special to show a decapitation, in more detail, Fred accidentally mistaking a mask for a zombie's real head and ripping it off, pretty fucking gruesome).
And Casey Kasem returned for the "What's New Scooby Doo" show of the 21st century, with a final cast reunion in the 2005ish movie Scooby Doo and the Monster of Mexico (or something like that), which REALLY begs the question of WHY the original cast said no to the movies & 2002 TV series & why the 2002 TV cast was snubbed for the Mexico movie. Unfortunately, Kasem has since lost his Shaggy and the role went through 5 guys before being passed down to Matthew Lilliard from the live action movies.
I remember that movie. When it came out on Cartoon Network I wasn't going to be able to watch it. So I begged my grandparents FOR DAYS to record it for me. Then I watched it the very next day and had nightmares for years after that. I was terrified of graveyards and anything creepy. But I continued to watch the Scoobie-Doo shows and movies. Eventually I got over that fear. And now I collect Scoobie-Doo merchandise.
You haven’t mentioned about the fantasy-themed, pirate show, “The Pirates of Dark Water.” It was created by David Kurshner and it was produced at Hanna-Barbara.
Omg, your description of Scooby-Doo may be ridiculously true, but it's what made the show awesome! :D Scooby will always be one of my favorite Hanna-Barbera characters of all time
your super friends narrator impression was so on point, i thought for a second that he actually said “and a few random teenagers” in the opening of the show! LOL
yeah the first 4 scooby animated films were very dark for its type of audience thats what i liked most about those films and i also like scooby doo mystery incorporated because it had its own story arc usually the case raps up at the end but with sdmi each episode leads into discovering a bigger clue to find out the mystery about crystal cove plus it brought the dark tone back
So far they only made two. I think the recent smurf movie was an animated one made by Sony and it had Smurfette go on an adventure and find a village full of female smurfs.
On top of Looney Tunes, Scooby Doo was my childhood cartoon. Oh, the memories. Sitting in front of my crappy TV watching cartoons. What happened to these amazing shows? Now we have.......Regular Show.......*shiver*
Actually the part where he super friends go to OZ happened twice, in the show and in a game named lego dimensions. In the game you go to other world ps in lego, but you can have a look, so anyways, apparently the three starter characters, wildstyle, Gandalf and batman traveled through the dimensions and came across OZ. So basically this is the second time.
I grew up watching the Smurfs and until I saw this video I did't even know the Smurfs originated in France for years I always thought they were an American cartoon series.
I am getting a feeling that if it wasn't for Hanna Barbara in the 90s we might not have gotten My Little Pony Friendship Is Magic. Sure there was other versions of My Little Pony but they were crap and wasn't the franchise getting low in popularity? I know about the Michael Bay Transformers movies helped Transformers get popular again and revive it. But being Laruen Faust created My Little Pony Friendship Is Magic and she worked at Hanna Barbara when they made Powerpuff Girls which was created by her husband but I have a feeling that if Hanna Barbara didn't make it through the 80s and 90s and closed down that would cause a ripple effect on the animation industry and the scene nowadays might be different than it is now.
+TheUtubedude101 Sorry if you had bad experiences with us bronies but I can tell you that there's bronies out there that just enjoys watching the show. I know that some people consider bronies the cancer of the internet and for some of them I have to agree with them. I was taught to not be mean to people and their feelings and I try to stay with what my mom taught me. Sorry if you had bad experiences with us bronies but I can tell you that not all of us are like that. Heck I was like you guys who hates MLP but I was judging it before I gave it a try. I'm a guy who saw My Little Pony Tales and I can tell you that I didn't like it one bit. That AND Generation 3 of the franchise was the main reason I didn't get into this one I thought it was going to be the same thing but more modern animation in the show but I was wrong and I regretted judging it by the name of the show and my previous experiences with the franchise. I even made a vow to try not to judge other shows before I watch them because I have been doing it ever since I was a kid. Heck I even judged Pokemon before I saw a single episode and after I saw one episode I found out that I liked the show. Also for me watching MLP is helping me get my attitude problem gone. I used to try to kill my mom and I used to steal from her. By last year I was slowly going back to that dark place than I got into MLP and it changed me for the better. I'm now more happy than I was before and I wouldn't have it any other way. HECK thanks to my behavior I have a PS4 and PS3 and PS Vita and for Christmas this year I'm going to be getting a Wii U. So thanks to the show I've changed my attitude and I am getting things I wouldn't get before.
TheUtubedude101 That really sucks. I heard that Adventure Time has a fan base and they're upset about it😑. That happens to long running cartoons sometimes they start to lose ideas for stories for the show. I can't even remember how many cartoons that I watched ended their runs on TV because of losing story ideas. Like Remember The House of Mouse? That cartoon was so awesome having all classic Disney Characters in one show was a dream come true for us who watched it. I still remember when they recast Pokémon from the 4Kids cast to the new one and on top of that moving it from Kids WB to Cartoon Network. I was furious when I first heard about it. But all cartoons must have a low point in their runs and maybe it's Adventure Time turn to end. My suggestion to you is to remember the good times you had while watching Adventure Time and remember all of the laughs and enjoyment you had during it's run because that's in a nutshell is the most important thing to get from watching a cartoon your enjoyment of it.
This year (2019) will mark the 50th anniversary of Scooby Doo. “What a Night for a Knight” the very 1st episode of “Scooby Doo! Where Are You?” First premiered on September 13, 1969. This is also means that Frank Welker has been the voice actor for Fred for 50 years! And that was his very first voice acting job as well.
We are definitely cool mate, nice having this talk and yeah it's cool what they wanted to do but what they did make I'm not fond off, well see ya around
AGREED! I also agree with the Nostalgia Critic's summary of Scrappy: "His voice was annoying, the character was annoying, the fact that he never shuts up was annoying...GOD HE WAS ANNOYING!!"
Glad to you, good that you know that people hating the film is a everyday occurrence, nice having this interesting chat and I have nothing against the creators especially William Hanna and Joseph Barbera because well they created Tom and Jerry but I'm sorry I still hate the movie, it made the Nostalgia Critic cry if you seen his review
A Pup Named Scooby Doo first started airing in the 80s but went into syndication in the 90s. And you forgot to mention the Scooby Doo movies of the late 90s (Zombie Island, Witch's Ghost, Cyber Chase, Alien Encounter, etc), which got a little bit more of the dark tone of the original concept. And for some reason, the only original actor they got to reprise his role was Frank Welken as Fred. Don Messick passed away in 1996, but the other leads were still alive. And Casey Kasem returned for . . .
Great lookback Mat, this one has some of my favorite shows in this part. You really crack down on researching, how long do you think it takes you to find enough history about each show? I this is a coindicence, but today is my birthday and you couldn't have released it on a better day xD
I was a lucky kid. I grew up in the early 2000's so whenever there was a holiday, I got sick or they canceled due to snow I got to watch a LOT of Scooby Doo. (Along with Looney Toons and Tom and Jerry.) But I got to watch What's new Scooby Doo, Scooby Doo Where are You AND a Pup named Scooby Doo. All three in which were super popular. My twin sister was luckier though. Her 3rd grade teacher showed What's New Scooby Doo during class on an occasion.

Boy you certainly introduced Scrappy with a lot of pride in your voice.
In the 80's-90's you begin to see Hanna-Barbera's mistakes

Lucky luke and the daltons on the loose (which was a compilation of three episodes of the series with some new animated scene that are different from these three episodes)

Okay, this part of the look-back is AWESOME!!! Can't wait for you to talk about Cartoon Network!!

I hate parent groups
Lucky we have the Internet to rely on as a soapbox to ramble about them. Now that I mention it, it seems like people are starting to take notice and are encouraging parents to never fear that disciplining kids will scare them shitless, because I unfortunately felt that way when I had to go through those experiences as a kid!
Me too. They're not bitching about kids "Twerking" nor shows with "Fart" jokes and being plain retarded like Teen Titans Go and Uncle Grampa.
You know what is the worst some parents expect the government to raise them instead of raising their kids on their own parents have become so lazy that whenever a school shooting happens the government and the parents blame the entertainment industry instead of themselves like they are looking for a scapegoat for their own problems and acting like they are being proud parents
Me too
Love this!! I agree that Scooby Doo sort of went down when Scrappy was introduced.
Bit of a coincidence that Hanna Barbera made all those DC shows when they both would eventually be owned by Warner Bros.
ikr
Tsuki Condor most probably cause the directors want to steal it from Hannah barbera
Interesting enough Hanna Barbera made a Fantastic Four cartoon in the late 60s
Its like they predicted what would happen decades later or something like that.
Crazy, huh?
It sure felt like it to me right now.
4:40 everybody, except for Phantom Strider.
Lol 😂

Good because I thought the huge leap in quality between APNSD and WHSD was way too big for a 4 year gap.

This was a good series. Funny that it's 10 years old now, and a lot of the things you mentioned already happened

"And 2 random teenagers with their dog" When you said that, that was funny.
I’m upset you never mentioned the artist responsible for most of the art style of Hanna-Barbera, as well as Scooby-Doo, creator Iwao Takamoto.
Wow 2 actresses played Wonder Woman for both World War 1 & World War 2 together with Cold War & Modern Wars. Well Done
