So a Norwegian recreates, for a Greek, a song about nuclear war, sung in Spanish by two Italians. And an excellent recreation it is. 'Vamos a la playa' is a rather strange song. Like so many songs from the 1980s, it's not as innocuous as it at first appears.
This song was played at every cheesy discotheque for about two decades HARD in Greece. Around the same time….. my older cousins at the time (in their 20’s) used to call each other and ask “Pame sta barakia??” Which means “let’s go to the bars??” Every verse and chorus is an 80’s catch phrase about going to the bars…… bars where they would dance to this song. :)
I think interesting electronic music continued into the early to late 90s with bands like Electronic, the 80s sound had all but disappeared by then. I don't know about you but it seems like the sound of modern mainstream music beyond the late 90s hasn't really moved on very much at all, its the same type of sound and I've never really liked it.

There were some decent electronic artists however like The Prodigy who had some real talent but a lot of the rave stuff wasn't that great either. Early drum and bass and 90s hiphop however was at its peak so it wasn't all bad. I like the late 60s, 70s and early to mid 80s.
LOL we had to listen to this in my high school Spanish class in 1992. I still remember the crazy teacher explaining the lyrics. But she was embellishing them a bit, and she said, "The radiation... It... makes your hair green!" 😂

I recently discovered another latin style italodisco very underrated, i think heard it back in 1989 or 1990 for the first time from a radio station and never heard it again until recently: Camaro's - Companero 1985😎💥 Maybe it didn't have the success of Righeira but it's one of the best !
One of my favorite tracks ever, very nicely done! This sounds absolutely wonderful. I also love their hits No tengo Dinero and, specially, Inamoratissimo.

Great job. This is a job with a reverse engineering task behind. It's necessary a lot of knowledge and skills to produce a piece like this. You explained very well in the beggining of the video. Layers, Sounds, effects and the process of mixing and production in the year 1983 to get a similar sound, it's really hard. I think this is a true remastered masterpiece. Congratulations!🎉

Nice disection .. I'ts really a very simple arrangements once you get the right sounds. First I was like .. that bass is no way near right, and when you added that standard Roland E bass it was spot on .. lol that surpriced me. I am not an expert .. but isn't this Spanish .. people talk italy pop .. ? (I know Esbens version is greek 😉)

In U-he Diva plugin your can find a patch that sounds identical to the original brass of this song. It's not a sample, is generated in real time by analog modelling algorithms.

I have heard only one cover in my life, that surpassed the original sound of the composition. This is Wolfgang Gartner's remake, of the original song by Tiësto - "I Will Be Here". Maestro Kraft, I wanted to ask you: how do you insert into your songs and rebuilds, the sound and individual effects, of instruments that you do not have? For example, in this video here, I see and hear that you used a Linndrum machine and, I think, an Arp synthesizer. It seems that you do not have them, in physical form. Are these VST plugins? They sound very high quality.
Thanks! Drums are easy, I use my custom Linndrum samples. I've had these for years. If I have to make a synth sound from a synth I don't have it's pretty easy to make that from another synth. I am a synth programmer after all and with 30+ years of experience that's not very difficult. Side by side, you'd hear the difference, but in the mix and as a whole it doesn't matter.
Great cover Espen. I'm curious, you bounce most if not all the midi from VST plugins to audio. Is there a practical reason for this? In these cases, what the audio allows that the midi does not? Or is it just to somehow "freeze" the result so it won't change because of plugin's potential idiosyncrasies or quirks.
I record some soft synths in real time, as audio. I record almost everything by hand, except bass and very fast arps which I midi first, then record or render out depending on if they come from hardware or a vst etc. It's much easier to work with audio than midi. Audio is tighter and the mix will be easier and faster. I've made many videos where I talk about this and show this in real time. Cheers
