    The sparse wrenches work wonders.
    I bought a new Rebar recently, along with a pair of the wrenches and I'm glad I did. The Rebar was tight on one arm if the handles, so tight that I had to bear down and really push to get the arm to close while praying that I didn't smash my fingers when it snapped free. A couple turns with the wrenches and now the arm closes easily. The wrenches were purchased for a Rebar plier head swap with a LM Kick. Still waiting on the Loctite blue stick to arrive before the swap.
    I also had tight pliers on the new Rebar and tried the hammer method. It worked but after squeezing the pliers together, right back to stiff. So I sat, with a split in half tree limb, and did the method shown here. It took quite a while but in the end it was worth it. Now the pliers are loose and do not tighten when squeezed together tightly.
    Thanks for the information on how to turn a new unusable tool into a new usable tool.

    I almost bought a leatherman wave this year as I've always used somewhat cheaper MT's to get by. Then I discovered the GOAT modular multi-tool and I just decided to pre-order it instead. They gave an update and have their full patent now. Their estimate is to ship near April 2022 for pre-orders. I really dislike not being able to easily remove tools and I love the idea of having one high quality tool that's fully customizable. Plus the brass scales look really cool.

      I’m interested in the idea of modular multitools, but every individual tool in GOATtools MMT system has a large circular hole at the hinge and I’m a little concerned about the strength. Still it is a realization of the dream multitool and I wish their tool hits the market soon.

  • @mingshey
    @mingshey 3 ปีที่แล้ว +4

    I returned a Charge + TTI for exchange because the security torx screws on the straight blade and file was loose so the file scratched the inside of the scale and would not fold up if not pressed. If I had these tools I would have just fixed the problem myself.

    Your tip with the plier loosening works, thx. I found out what also does, opening and closing it repeatedly while putting pressure on the side of the handles (sam trick as with floppy scissors). Really wish multitools would be more user servicable, victorinox does it even worse, its just bolts, no way to adjust anything, but then, those work out of the box and if they dont, ship it to them:P

As you say the scissors on it are fantastic and it's a better option than a Micra or SOG Snippet too.

    I’ve been trying to find a tool for Gerber tools like the Armbar. I found a few “close enough” tools but I can totally see in my head a metal circle with four small points to nestle into the four notches on the pivot screw. I’ve tried a couple of Gerber tools that just feel too tight. That was a bit of a misadventure, but in the end it worked out. I used 30 Degree Push Pin Removal Pliers but they did slip a few times. I’m still on the look out for some kind of a ring tool to fit around the pivot snuggly, but so far I haven’t found one that fits the bill.
    If anyone out their knows where to get such a tool please share!

    Why mess about with something that is perfect, yes all leatherman multi tools are stiff when new. I’ve had a sidekick for many years bought as a gift, it’s been sharpened so many times I’ve had to retire it but best and most useful knife I’ve ever owned and believe me I’ve had a lot. I’ve just treated myself to a rebar, yes it’s stiff but I’m sure that’s a sight of workmanship and quality maybe that’s why leatherman give a 25 year guarantee. If you want to tune a life that is just a bit stiff when new how many times are you going to be tightening up in the future? My only gripe after buying my rebar was the free sharpening stone and oil absolute crap and the leather case weren’t as good as the knife 🇬🇧
