Brooklyn after-hours look's like somewhere I could have fun if I don't get lost. You make the Navy Yard look so beautiful. I am loving these videos where you talk to Jazz fans. No Jazz fan will ever buy all of the same albums. There is so much Jazz to hear. it's interesting to see what someone thinks is the best music in their collection. My Jazz collection has a small number of great albums and a lot of compilation albums and box sets. Its the only way I can buy music by a number of different jazz artists. Who has the time or money to buy every album by every jazz artist?
What's the deal with the postits on all your albums? You ask an important question there lol I see the post-it notes are part of his filing system for Records. I like to keep all my Jazz albums together, All my rock albums together all my blues albums together all my soul albums together all my reggae albums together, well you get the idea. I also have piles of random albums as I am running out of space in my home. I think I need a small warehouse for the rest of my music.
Ella Fitzgerald is the queen of romance in Jazz. I also like Etta James. For my ears, the best female jazz singer of all time is Sara Vaughan. I love Ella's version of Cream's "sunshine of your love" amazing. th-cam.com/video/IkkMJo0P408/w-d-xo.html
Tuttle-neck Jazz a new term for me. I see what John is doing putting Jazz with the style of the day. In the 50s/60s Jazz was very linked with the ivy style of dressing.
Thank you for making these videos Ken.

" I also have piles of random albums as I am running out of space in my home. I think I need a small warehouse for the rest of my music." Truth!
I liked Sarah when I first got into jazz, but her overuse of vibrato drove me nuts.

Great combo of gear and vinyl, Ken. DeVore speaks, if they sound half as good as they look, sure they're incredible. Keep it up.

You present a great visual of how aging and decay has a place in beauty. The loneliness is such a powerful image and somehow connects to jazz. Got to get to Brooklyn.
    Thanks

Thank you for noting that. 10 years it was a total ruin and the glorious Admiral's Row next to the Navy Yard. The city could have saved at least two of the row houses, which dated back to the Civil War, but as usual, no one gave shit.

No only do they not give a shit but think it’s progressive to tear it down and replace it with a soulless box.

Another outstanding interview Ken. I love the obvious passion John shows when he's explaining why he chose the records he picked. You can tell he really put some serious thought behind his selections.
You're getting really good at these video interviews. You're becoming the Howard Stern of audiophile interviews.... "minus the boobies". 😉
Can't wait for the next video.

Ella and Joe did easy living and another one with Joe. Am not sure which one but one song moves into another song. I heard on the radio and it was gorgeous. Classic standards.. Can anyone tell me which album it is?..might be easy listening.

Ella did a few Pablos with Pass, "Easy Living" was one of the latest ones, from the mid-80's. I think "Take Life Easy" was first, 10 years earlier, and there were a few more between. All great.
