with these settings you need to cap the framerate at 30 fps. That way you get a smooth experience. Honestly your FPS were all over the place. If you want 40 fps almost locked you need to really cap those graphical settings to low and medium.
Since Elden Ring doesn’t support 16by10 aspect ratio you should set it at 720p, I read somewhere that even if not showing it, the engine still renders the not visible parts behind the black bars. Might squeeze some performance/battery life out of it. Also during my tests on my LCD unit I noticed decent gains locking the GPU frequency at 1100/1200 MHz. The newer APU with the 6nm node should let the CPU boost higher or with much more consistency.
Elden Ring I want to get into it so bad. I have a PS5 but I want it on my OLED Steam deck. I know I should buy it on my PS5 to experience it for the first time for the FPS and bigger screen. Is there any downside to dying in Elden ring like there is in Dark souls? I’m brand new to these games and I’ve heard ER is the most beginner friendly
Elden Ring is best experienced on the big screen but given how well it runs portable is still very enjoyable. If you have a PC and a Steam Deck that'll be a good balance as you can jump back and forth between the two of them. Same death penalties apply in Elden Ring as Dark souls. Lose your souls and return to last checkpoint. Hard as always! :)
That left joystick is just so awkardly placed. Why would valve placed the dpad on the outside instead of the joystick where it is primarily being used.
Yeah it's almost as awkward as a Sony controller, just without the thumb cramp. You'll get used to it I think the layout is symmetrical for obvious reasons. I think the Dpad would be awkward to use if it were where the left thumbstick is. It'd also look RLY weird if the thumbstick was on the edge of the handheld The horizontal layout/grip is also intended for balance and to make room for touchpads
It depends on what the resolution of your monitor is. You may need to use the fsr option to upscale lower resolutions cause at native 1080p and above, the fps dips to low 20s or even worse.
@@Lerciezjeyeah i just got my steam deck and i was blown away by how good it looked on there. I thought it was gonna be on all low settings and look really bad but that wasn't the case at all
Never owned a GPD but it would come down to preference of platform. The steam deck is restricted to it's Linux system unless you install windows or so some other workarounds to play other games. GPDs will play everything out the box but not have the same optimisation per game as some deck approved games have. Some games on the deck still out perform other portable devices with more power! The deck is impressive and has great battery life and is cheaper but restricted. GPD would have access to all windows games. But the price looks pretty expensive.
Just random settings and greedy push for frame rate. Just max out the settings, cap it at 30, and play it like a movie Although if you're gonna make 'test' videos showcasing AAA games, at least uncap the frame rate and showcase minimum and maximum possible settings
It’s not the LCD version, please check my channel out and see my unboxing video of the oled. I also show that it’s running in HDR which the LCD version doesn’t have.
Finished the whole game on the deck. I fcking love that thing❤
It is an amazing device!
What were your settings
ok 29fps
Mines arriving within the next 40mins and I'm so excited
Should've buy that during winter sale, even tho I have it on PS4, but my god loading time is crazy😅
I am glad to see it can run elden ring 40 fps. Will buy it in the future!

100% agree with you now.. this was be testing it out and realize it is now a smother experience at 30fps.

Thanks for the info. I'll try it out.
@@TechDownUnderHub let me know what you find, I just sold my unit and I'm torn between getting an oled or try the Ally

I’m used to it now. Doesn’t feel awkward but I have played hundreds of hours on it 😁
It's fine when u actually use it
is the performance the same when you dock the SD and display the game on a monitor? :)
That’s a good question. I’ll test it out.

i have a 1920x1080 monitor, so i would be putting 720p on steamdeck + fsr?@@arclight7892
grass on medium also helps.
Will try it out
Could you show some Cyberpunk? How is the HDR in that?
Will do
cyberpunk also works great on it, its amazing piece of hardware

It's the oled. Just look at the base of the thumbsticks, it's all black as compared to the Lcd's white.
